1 Product Features HP L1745 The flat panel monitor has an active matrix, thin-film transistor (TFT), liquid crystal display (LCD). The monitor features include: ● 17-inch (43.
2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power co rd is includ ed with the mo nitor. If another cord is used, us e only a power source and connection appropriate for this monitor. For information on the co rrect power cord set to us e wi th the mon itor, ref er to Power Cord Set Requirements on page 37 in Appendix C.
● Be sure the total ampere rati ng of the products connected to the outlet does not exceed the current rating of the electrical outlet, an d the total ampere ratin g of the pr oducts connected to the cord does not exceed the rating of the cord . Look on the power label to de termine the ampere rating (AMPS or A) for each de vice.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, ensure that the power is turned off to the monitor, computer system, and other attached devices, then follow the instructions below.

Connecting the Monitor 1 . Place the monito r in a convenient, well-ve ntilated location near the computer. NOTE: You may want to pivot the monitor 90° to make it easier to acces s the cable connections.
3 . Connect one en d of the USB h ub cable to the USB co nnector on the rear panel of the computer or to a USB hub, and the other end to the upstream USB connector on the monitor.
4 . Connect one end of the pow er cable to the AC pow e r connector on the back of the monitor, and the other end to an electrical w all outlet. Figure 3 - 6 Connecting the Powe r Cable WARNING! To reduce the risk of el ectric shock or damage to the equipmen t: • Do not disable the power cord grounding plug.
Adjusting the Monitor 1 . Tilt the monitor's panel forward or backwa rd to set it to a comfortable eye level. Figure 3 - 7 Tilting the Monitor 2 .
3 . Adjust the monitor's height so that it is parallel to your eye heig ht for a comfortable viewing position. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the monitor, be sure not to lower it onto objects in the pedestal base tray. Figure 3 - 9 Adjusting the Height 4 .
Turning on the Monitor 1 . Press the power switch to turn on the computer. 2 . Press the power button on the front of the monitor. CAUTION: Burn-in image damage may occur on monitors that display the same static image on screen for a pr olonged pe riod of time.
Mounting the Monitor The HP Quick Release can be removed from the monitor base and attached to a mounting fixture. This allows you to quickly and securely attach the monitor panel to the mounting fixture. 1 . Remove the monitor panel from the pedestal base.
3 . To mount the monitor to a swing arm, wall or other mo unting fi xture using the HP Quick Release, secure the HP Quick Release to th e mounting fixture or wall (1) then slide the monitor all the way down onto the HP Quick Release so that it clicks in place (2).
4 . If mounting the monitor using anot her manufacturer’s solutio n, use the screws (1) previou sly removed from the monitor base to mount the display (2) to a swing arm or other mounting fixture. Consult the documentation included with the mounti ng fixture for additional instructions.
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on the monitor provide the spare part number, product number , and serial number. You may need these numbers whe n contacting HP about th e monitor model. The rating labels are located on the rear panel of the monitor displa y head.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monit or contai ns files you can install on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you determine that you need to update, you ca n install t he .INF and .ICM files from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM file s on the computer from the CD: 1 . Insert the CD in the computer CD-ROM drive.
To use the auto-adjustment feature: 1 . Allow the monitor to warm up fo r 20 minutes before adjusting. 2 . Press the Auto Adjust button on the monitor front panel. ● You can also press the Menu button, then select Auto-Adjustment from the OSD Basic Main Menu or Image Control > Auto-Adjustment from the OSD Advanced Main Menu.

Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adjusted from the On-S creen Display (OSD) menu or from the HP Display Assistant u tility. Using the On-Screen Display Menu Use the On-Screen Display (OSD) to adju st the screen imag e based on your viewing preferences .

Optimizing Digi tal Conversion This monitor contains advanced circuitry that allows the flat panel sc reen to function like a sta ndard monitor. Two controls in the on-screen display can be adjusted to im prove ima ge performa nce: Cloc k and Clock Phase.
Identifying Monitor Conditions Special messages will appear on th e monito r screen when identifying the following monitor conditions: ● Input Signal Out of Range—Change re solution setting to 128.
NOTE: You must set the current local time before you reset the time for Sleep Time or On Time . Note that the time is displayed in a 24–h our clock format. For example, 1:15 p.m. is displayed as 13 hou rs 15 minutes. 5 . Press the Menu button once to enter the adjustment mode for hours.

Problem Possible Cause Solution The HP Display LiteSaver may not be compatible with the computer system. Some notebook com puters are not compatible and the monitor power can not be controlled. Confirm that the HP Display LiteSaver is compatible with the system.
