1 Product Features HP LCD Monitors The LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors have an ac tive matrix, thin-film tran sistor (TFT) pan el. The monitor models and feature s include: ● L1750 model, 43.
● Tilt capability ● Pivot capability to rotate display to portrait mode (select models) ● Swivel and height adjustment capabi lities (select models) ● Removable base for flexib le monitor pane.
2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If an other cord is used, u se only a power sour ce and connection appr opriate for this mon itor. For information on the correct pow er cord set to use w ith the monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Se t Requirements on page 55 in Appen dix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance and extend the life of the monitor: ● Do not open th e monitor cabinet or attempt to se rvice this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turned off to the mon itor, computer system, and other attached devices, then foll ow the instructions below. Unfolding the Double-Hinged Monitor Pedestal Base NOTE: The monitor is ship ped with the base attached in a fold ed-flat position.
5. Remove the swivel locking pin (5) from the p edestal base. Figure 3-2 Unfo lding the Monitor Pedestal Base Unfolding the Single-Hinged Monitor Pedestal Base 1. Lift the monitor from its box and place it face down on a flat surface covered by a soft, clean cloth.

Cable Management Use the cable manag ement feature to secure and h ide your cables wh en viewed from the front. Before conn ecting the cables to monito r models with a single-hing ed base, route the ca bles through the hole in the center o f the moni tor stand.
Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monito r in a convenie nt, well-v entilated locatio n near the computer. 2. Connect a VGA sign al cable or DVI-D signal cab le. NOTE: For models with both VGA and DVI-D connec tors, the monito r is capable of su pporting either analog or digital input.
4. Connect one end of the provided USB cable to the USB hub connector on the rear panel of the computer, an d the other end to th e upstream USB conne ctor on the mo nitor. Figure 3-9 Connecting the USB Cable WARNING ! To reduce the risk of elec tric sh ock or damage to the equipmen t: Do not disable the pow er cord grounding plug .
5. Connect one end of the p ower cable to the AC p ower connector on the back of the mon itor, and the other end t o an electric al wall outlet. Figure 3-10 Connecting the Power Cab le Adjusting the Monitor NOTE: Your monitor model may look d ifferent than the model in the following illustration s.
2. Swivel the monito r to the left or right for the best viewing a ngle (select model s). Figure 3-12 Swiveling the Monitor 3. Adjust the monitor's height so that it is paralle l to your eye height for a comfortable viewing p osition (select models).
4. Pivot the monitor clockwise from landsca pe to portrait orien tation viewi ng to adapt to your application (select models). Figure 3-14 Pivoting the Monitor NOTE: To view informati on on the screen in portrait m ode, you will need to install the Pivot Pro software included on the softwar e and documentat ion CD.
Connecting USB Devices USB connectors (on select mode ls) are used to connect devices such as a digital camera, USB keyboard, or USB mouse. Some models include tw o ad ditional USB conn ectors on the si de panel of the monitor. NOTE: You must connect the USB hub cable from the mo ni tor to the computer to enable th e USB 2.
Removing the Monitor Pedestal Base You can remove the monito r panel from the pedestal b ase to install the panel on a wall , a swing arm, or other mountin g fixture. CAUTION: Before beginning to disassem ble the moni tor, be sure the monitor is turne d off and the power and signal cables are both disconne cted.

3. Place the optional HP Quick R elease onto the ba ck of the monitor. Line up the holes on the HP Quick Release with the mo unting holes on the back of the monitor. Figure 3-19 Mounting the HP Quick Release 4. Insert four 10mm screws into th e mounting holes and tighten.
5. Mount the HP Quick Release to a swi ng arm or other mo unting fixture using the fo ur screws removed from the back of the monitor in the previo us step. Figure 3-20 Installing the HP Quick Release CAUTION: T he HP Quick Release is designed to support a maximum of up to 24 lbs.
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on th e monitor provide the spare part number, pro duct number, and serial numb er. You may need these nu mbers when contacting HP about the mon itor model. The ra ting labels are located on the re ar panel of the monitor d isplay head.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monitor contain s files you can install on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Ima ge Color Ma tching) file ● auto-adjustment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you dete rmine that you need to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM file s from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM file s on the co mputer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD in the com puter CD-ROM drive.
To use the au to-adjustment feature: 1. Allow the monitor to warm up for 20 minutes before adjusting . 2. Press the -/Auto button on the monitor front panel. ● You can also press the Menu button, then select Image Control from the OSD Main Menu . Refer to Adjusting the Monitor Settings on pag e 25 in this chap ter.
Front Panel Controls Table 4- 1 Monitor F ront Panel Controls Control Function 1 Menu Opens, selects or exits the OSD menu. 2 Minus ● If the OSD menu is on, press to navigate backwa rd through the OSD menu and decrease adjustment levels. ● If the OSD menu is inactive, press to activate the auto adjustment feature to optimize the screen image.
Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adjusted fro m the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or from the HP Displa y Assistant utility. Using the On-Screen Display Menu Use the On-Screen Display (OSD) t o adjust the screen ima ge based on you r viewing p references.
OSD Menu Selections The following table lists the On-Scre en Display (OSD ) menu selections and their fu nctional descripti ons. After changing an OSD menu item, and if the menu screen has the se options, you may choose to : ● Cancel —to return to the previous menu level.
Icon Main Menu Submen u Description 9300 K Changes to slightly blueish white. 6500 K Changes to slightly reddish white. Custom Color Selects and adjusts your own color scales: ● R—sets your own re.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Depending on monitor model, factory default is On or Off. Power-On Status Display Displays the operating status of the monitor each time the monitor is powered on. Select the location to display the status to: ● Top ● Middle ● Bottom ● Off The factory default is Top.
Icon Main Menu Submen u Description Digital — DVI — Selects DVI input. Information Selects and displays important information about the monitor. Current Settings Provides the current input video mode. Recommended Settings Provides the recommended r esolution mode and refresh rate for the monitor.
Optimizing Digital Conversion Two controls in the on- screen display can be ad justed to improve image performance: Clock and Clock Phase. NOTE: The Clock a nd Clock Phase contro ls are adjustable on ly when using an analog input. These controls are not adjustab le for digital inputs.
Identifying Monitor Conditions Special messages will appear on th e monitor screen when identifying the following monitor conditions: ● Input Signa l Out of Range— Change re solution set ting to 1.
Sleep Timer Mode The Sleep Timer m ode is an energy-saving feat ure that enables you to set a time for the monitor to power on and off at the same time every day.
HP Display LiteSaver HP Display LiteSaver is a software application, availabl e on the CD, that increases monitor life an d saves energy. It allows yo u to place the mon itor into its low power sleep mo de at predefined ti mes by shutting down or reducing power to most internal circuits.
To take advanta ge of the sRGB support, yo u will need to change the monitor’s co lor temperature to sRGB and install the sRGB color profile (ICM) file. NOTE: The sRGB color temperature pr eset will improve th e color accuracy of sR GB images on the computer monitor, but some color variation may still occur.
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table lists possible prob lems, the po ssible cause of each problem, and the recommended solutions. Problem Possible Cause Solution Screen is blan k. Power cord is disconnected. Connect the power cord.
