2 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turn ed off to the mon itor, compu ter system, and other attached devices, then follow the instructions below. Unfolding the Monitor Pedestal Base 1. Lift the monitor fro m its box and place it face down o n a flat surface.
Rear Components Figure 2 -2 Rear Compo nents Component Function 1 DC Power In Connector Connects the power cord to the monitor. 2 DC Power Out Connector Connects the DC power cord from the monitor to an HP notebook computer for charging or powering the notebook (up to 90 watts) 3 Microphone Connects a microphone to the monitor.
Connecting the Monitor Cables 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well- ventilated location near the computer. 2. Remove the cable managemen t clip from the pede stal by pul ling outward on the two sides of the clip (1) then lifting th e clip off the pedestal (2 ).
4. Connect peripheral USB devices to the USB p ort s on the m onitor as ne eded. USB 3.0 ports a re located on the sid e panel. USB 2.0 ports are locate d on the rear pan el. If you are connect ing a keyboard and mouse (not provided ), connect them to the USB 2.
5. Connect the circular end of the power supply cord to the DC p ower IN connector on the back of the monitor. Connect the fe male end of the th re e-pronged power cord to the power supply and the male end to a n electrical wall outle t.
8. Secure the cables in p lace with the cable management clip. Press the clip stra ight down on the curved neck of the pedestal ensuri ng that the tabs o n the sides of the clip snap in to the slots on the pedestal. Figure 2-7 Installing the Cable Managem ent Clip Turning on the Monitor 1.
Connecting an HP Notebook Computer and Installing Drivers To use the mo nitor with an HP notebook computer, co nnect the USB cable between the notebook and monitor an d install the USB and LAN drivers. The vi deo signal is sent ov er the USB cable. The USB cable also enables all of the port replicator functions.
To install the drive rs from the CD included wi th the monitor: 1. Insert the CD into th e optical drive on the notebook computer. NOTE: If the Autop lay window does not p op up, us e Windows Explorer to se lect the CD, then proceed to the next step. 2.
Charging Your HP Notebook Computer The monitor includes a 90W DC power out port th at can be used to ch arge your HP notebook computer. NOTE: The charging system su pplies up to 90 wa tts of power. HP notebooks requ iring more than 90 watts may not be charged by the system.
Connecting Optional USB Devices The monitor includes a USB 3.0 hub with two extern al USB 2.0 p orts on the rear pane l and two USB 3.0 ports on the sid e panel. Connect USB 2. 0 devices, such as a keyboard and mouse, to the U SB 2.0 ports on the rear panel.

Adjusting the Monitor Your monitor model may look different than the model in the following illustrations. 1. Tilt the monitor's panel forward or backward to set it to a comfortable eye level. Figure 2-12 Tilting the Monitor 2. Swivel the monitor to the le ft or right for the b est viewing angle.
3. Adjust the monitor’s height to a comfortable position for you r individua l workstation. The monitor’s top bezel edge should not exceed a height that is para llel to your eye h e ight. A monitor that is positioned low an d reclined may be more comfortable for users with corrective lenses.
4. Pivot the monitor from landscape to portrait orie ntatio n viewing to adapt to your ap plication. a. Adjust the monito r to full heig ht position and tilt the moni tor back to full tilt position (1). b. Pivot the monitor clockwise 90° from landscap e to portrait orientation (2).
Removing the Monitor Pedestal Base You can remove the monitor panel from the pedestal b ase to install the panel on a wall, a swing arm, or other mounting fixture. CAUTION: Before beginning to disassemble the monitor, be sure th e monitor is turned off and the power and signal cable s are disconnect ed.
Mounting the Monitor The monitor pane l can be attached to a wall, swing arm, or other mounting fi xture. NOTE: This apparatus is intended to b e supporte d by UL or CSA Listed wall mo unt bracket. 1. Remove the monitor p anel from the pedestal base. Refer to Removing the Moni tor Pedestal Base on page 17 .
Installing a Cable Lock You can secure the monitor to a fixed obje ct with an optio nal cable lock available from HP. Figure 2 -19 Installing a Cable Lock Installing a Cable Lock 19.
3 Using the Webcam Install CyberLink YouCam software and driver from the C D that ca me with y our moni tor. NOTE: USB connectivity between the monitor and PC is required for the webca m to operate. The webcam will not operate if you are using the VGA cable for the graphics interface.
Before yo u can set up a video chat: 1. Download an Interne t messenger or video p hone call program. Ma ke sure the person you are calling has com patible video- calling software. 2. Enable your webcam as the default video input. This is usuall y done thro ugh the video setu p in the Tools menu in the softw are program you ar e using.
4 Using HP MyRoom HP MyRoom is your online m eeting room. Connec t with business colleagues “fa ce to face” and collaborate with useful tools. Installing HP MyRoom from the CD To install HP MyRoom: 1. Insert the CD that came with yo ur m onito r into the computer CD-ROM drive.

Recognizing Preset Display Resolutions The display resolutions listed below are the most commonly used modes and are set as factory defaults. This monitor automatica lly recognizes these preset mode s and they will appear properly sized and centered on the screen.
By selecting the sett ings in the monitor's Energy Saver utility, you can al so program the m onitor to enter into the re duced power state at a p redetermined time. Wh en the monitor's Energy Saver utility causes the monitor to enter the redu ced power state, the powe r light blinks amber.
