Quick Setup & Getting Started Installing and Customizing the Software If your computer was not shipped wit h a Microsoft operating syst em, some portions of this documen tation do not apply. Ad ditional informa tion is available i n online help after you install th e operating system.
In Windows Vista an d Windows 7, t he Windows Update screen appears. Click view av ailable upd ates and make sure all criti cal updates are se lected. Click the Install button and follow the instructions on the screen. In Windows XP, you w ill be directed to the Microsoft Win dows Update Web site .

Protecting the Software To protect the software from loss or damage, keep a backup copy of all system software, appl ications, and re lated files stored on the hard drive. Refer to the operating system or backup utility document ation for instructions on making backup copies of your data fi les.
1. In Window s Explorer , go to C:SWSetupISOs and burn the file Vision Diagnostics. ISO to a CD or copy it to a USB flash drive. 2. While the comput er is on, insert the CD in the Optical Dri ve or USB flash drive in a USB port on the computer. 3. Shut down the operat ing system and turn off the computer.
XP Home, click Start > Turn Off Computer . In Linux systems, click Computer > Shut Down . Depending on the oper ating system, pressing the pow er button may cause the computer to enter a lo w-power or “standby” state inst ead of automatica lly turning the power off.
