1 Product Features HP ZR22w and ZR24w Models The LCD (liquid crystal display) monitor has an acti ve matrix, thin-f ilm transistor (TFT). The monitor features include : ● ZR22w model, 54.

2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If anot her cord is used, use only a power source and connection appr opriate for this monito r. For information on the correct power cord se t to use with th e monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Set Req uirements on page 41 in Appendix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance an d extend the life of the monito r: ● Do not open th e monitor cabinet or attempt to se rvice this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the mo nitor, ensure that the power is turned off to the monito r, computer system, and other attached devices, th en follow the instructions below. NOTE: Be sure the master power switch, located on the re ar pan el of the monitor, is in the off position.

Routing and Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-ventilated location near the computer. 2. Remove the cable routing cover by pulling it straight off the front of the column.
NOTE: The monitor is capa ble of supporting eith er analog or digital inp ut. The video mode is determined by the video cabl e used. The moni tor will automatically dete rm ine which inputs have valid video signals.
Connecting USB Devices The monitor provides USB connecto rs on the side panel and o n the rear panel that can be used to connect devices such as a digital camera, USB keyboard , or USB mouse. NOTE: You must connect the USB hub cable from the mo nito r to the computer to enable th e USB 2.
2. Swivel the monitor to the left or right for the best viewing angle. Figure 3-8 Swiveling the Monitor 3. Adjust the monitor's height so that it is parallel to your eye height for a comforta ble viewing position. A lock-down/ release button on the back of the column prevents the displa y head from slidin g up when the m onitor is lifted.
4. Raise the monitor pa nel to its highest position a nd pivot the monitor clo ckwise from landscape to portrait orientation viewing to ad apt to your application. NOTE: It may be necessary to tilt th e monitor panel back to prevent th e corner of the pane l from coming in contact with the ba se when pivoting.
The monitor automatically scans the si gnal inputs for an active input and uses that input for the display. If two or more inputs ar e active, the monitor will di spl ay the default input source.
Mounting the Monitor NOTE: This apparatus is intended to be supporte d by UL or CSA Listed wall mount bracket. The HP Quick Release can be removed from the pedesta l base and installed to a mounting fixture. It allows you to quickly an d securely attach the mon itor panel to the mounting fixture.
3. Mount the Quick Rele ase to a swing arm or othe r mounting fixture using the four screws remove d from the Quick Release in the previous step. Figure 3-13 Installi ng the Quick Releas e CAUTION : The Quick Releas e can also be installed d irectly to a wall to mount th e monitor panel.
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on the monitor pro vide the spare part number, product nu mber, and serial number. You may need th ese numbers when contactin g HP a bou t the monitor model. The rating l abels are located on the re ar panel of the monitor di splay head.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD th at comes with the moni tor contai ns files you can insta ll on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Image Color Match ing) file ● auto-adjust ment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you determi ne that you nee d to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM files from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM files on the computer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD i n the computer CD-ROM d rive.
Using the Auto-Adjustment Function You can optimize th e screen performance for the VGA (a nalog) input by usin g the OK/auto button on the monitor and the auto-adj ustment pattern software ut ility on the CD provided. Do not use this pr ocedure if the monitor is using a DVI or DisplayPort input.

Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adju sted from the On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menu or from th e HP Display Assistant utility. NOTE: If there is a problem with the displa y settings, try resetting the settings to the factory defaults by opening the OSD and selecting Factory Rese t from the OSD menu.
OSD Menu Selections The following table l ists the On-Screen Display (OSD) me nu selections and their fun ctional descriptions. After changing an OSD menu item, and if the menu screen ha s these options, yo u may choose to: ● Cancel —to return to the previous menu level.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Custom Scaling Selects the method on how displayed information on the monitor will be formatted. Select: ● Fill to Screen - image fills the entire screen and may l.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Descript ion Power On Recall Restores power to the monitor following an unexpected removal of power. Select: ● On ● Off The factory default is On. Mode Display Displays the resolution, refresh rate and frequen cy information on the screen each time the OSD Main Menu is accessed.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Information Selects and displays important information a bout the monitor. Current Settings Provides the current input video mode. Recommended Settings Provides the recommended resolution mode and refresh rate for the monitor.
Optimizing Digital Conversion Two controls in the on-screen displa y can be adjusted to improve image perfo rmance: Clock and Clock Phase. NOTE: The Clock and Cl ock Phase controls are adj ust able o nly when using an ana log input. These controls are not adjustab le for digital inputs.
Identifying Monitor Conditions Special messages will appear on th e monitor screen wh en identifying the follow ing monitor conditions: ● Monitor St atus —When the monitor is powered on or when the input source signal is changed , a Monitor Status message is displaye d for five seconds.
Sleep Timer Mode The Sleep Timer mo de is an energy-saving fea ture that enables you to set a time for the mo nitor to power on and off at the same time ev ery day.
HP Display LiteSaver HP Display LiteSaver is a software application, av a ilable on the CD, tha t increases monitor life a nd saves energy. It allows you to place the monitor into its low power sle ep mode at predefi ned times by shutting down or reducing powe r to most internal circu its.
sRGB Support The monitor is designed to sup port sRGB for color manageme nt, which adapts to the color standards used in the imag e technolog y industry. To take advantage of th e sRGB support, yo u will need to change the mo nitor’s color temperature to sRGB and install the sRGB color profile (ICM) file.

A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table lists possi ble problems, the po ssible cause of each problem, and the recommended solutions. Problem Possible Cause Solution Screen is blan k. Power cord is disconnected. Connect the power cord.
