Y ou need to r emov e the back co v er before y ou can install the batt ery , SIM card, and micr oSD card.
Chapter 1 Getting Started 25 Inserting the SIM card The SIM car d contains y our phone number , service details, and phonebook/ message memory . Y our phone supports both 1.8V and 3V SIM cards. Some legacy SIM cards ma y not function with your phone. Y ou should consult with y our mobile operator f or a replacement SIM car d.
26 Chapter 1 Getting Started Inserting a microSD car d Y ou can insert a microSD car d (not included) for e xtra st orage . The stor age card slot is loca ted next t o the SIM card slot. Insert the microSD car d into the slot with its gold contacts facing do wn then push it in until it clicks into place .
Chapter 1 Getting Started 27 1.4 Charging the Batt ery The batt ery is partially charged. Befor e y ou turn on and start using your phone , it is rec ommended that you char ge the battery . Some batteries perform bes t after se ver al full charge/ discharge cy cles.

Do not remo ve the batt ery from the phone while y ou are char ging it using the A C or car adapter . As a safety precaution, the ba ttery stops char ging when it ov erheats.

Chapt er 2 Phone Calls 2. 1 Making Calls T o make a call, y ou can either dial a number or select a contact y ou want t o call. While viewing a mes sage that you r eceiv ed, you can also directly call the sender of the mes sage if the sender ’s phone number is stor ed in y our contacts.

Chapter 2 Phone Calls 49 2.2 Answ ering and Ending Calls When y ou rec eive a phone call, the Incoming V oice Call screen will appear , allowing y ou to either answ er or ignore the call. If you ha ve included the caller’s birthda y in their contact information, the Incoming V oic e Call screen display s a reminder .
50 Chapter 2 Phone Calls If the phone is already f acing down, the phone will still ring when ther e are subsequent inc oming calls. T o reject a call and send a te xt message When y ou are bus y and unable to take an inc oming call, you can send a te xt message to the caller and r eject the incoming v oice call.

54 Chapter 2 Phone Calls 2.4 Speed Dial Use Speed Dial to call fr equently-used numbers with a single tap. F or ex ample, if y ou assign a contact to the loca tion 2 in Speed Dial, you can pres s and hold the number 2 ke y on the Phone dialer ke ypad to dial the contact’ s number .
Chapter 2 Phone Calls 55 2.5 Making Conf erenc e Calls Ther e are tw o wa ys to s tart a confer ence call from the Phone dialer screen. Y ou can choose your participants first bef ore starting the confer ence call. Y ou can also dial or accept multiple calls one at a time and join them into a conf erenc e call.
56 Chapter 2 Phone Calls Dial the first participant b y tapping the T alk button ( ) that appears to the right of this participant. When the first call is c onnected, tap the T alk button ( ) of the second participant to dial the sec ond call. The first call is automatically put on hold.
Chapter 2 Phone Calls 57 Making the first call and adding calls to the c onfer ence T o set up a confer ence call, y ou can make the first call and then dial each subsequent call to add to the c onfer ence. Pres s the T ALK/SEND button to open the Phone dialer .
58 Chapter 2 Phone Calls T o talk in private with the select ed participant, tap the Privat e button ( ). This separ ates the participant fr om the confer ence call and puts the others on hold. When y ou want to s wap betw een the privat e call and the confer ence call, tap the dim ar ea that show s “On Hold”.

Updating w eather information Y our phone can determine y our current location and displa y your local time and weather c onditions on the weather clock.

Y ou need to hav e contacts already s tored on y our phone befor e you can add them t o the People tab.
Chapter 3 Using the Home Screen 69 3.6 Messages Quickly bro wse thr ough and read t ext messages as the y arriv e directly from the Mes sages tab. This tab also displa ys r eceived multimedia messages. An attachment icon is sho wn to indicat e that a rec eived message is a multimedia message.
