Use the stylus tip to push the SIM card out of slot, then slide the SIM card to remo ve it. 2 3 Storage car d A microSD™ card holder is located inside the batt er y compartment.

26 Getting Star ted 1.3 Starting Up After installing your SIM card and battery and charging the PDA phone , you can now power on and start using your device. T urn your device on and off T o turn on the power • Pr ess and hold the POWER button for a few seconds.

28 Getting Star ted T o smooth the edges of screen fonts for many pr ograms, tap Start > Settings > System tab > Screen > C learT ype tab, then select the Enable ClearT ype check box. T o increase the readability or to see more content on the screen, on the T ext Size tab, adjust the text size by moving the slider .
Getting Started 29 1.4 The T oday Screen The T oday screen displays important information, such as upcoming appointments and status indicators. T ap items on the screen to open the associated program.
30 Getting Star ted 1.5 The Start Menu The Start menu, located on the top left corner of the T oday screen, displays a list of programs. Y ou can start a program by scrolling thr ough the programs list, then pressing ENTER, or b y tapping a program with the stylus.
Getting Started 31 T ap to open the Quick Menu. • T o switch to a running program, tap the prog ram name. • T o stop a running prog ram, tap . Customize the T ask Manager settings. (See “Using T ask Manager ” in Chapter 13.) Stop all currently running programs.
32 Getting Star ted Home Home displays the current date and local time. When you have new incoming messages and calls, it shows you the number of new e-mails, SMS/MMS messages, and missed calls. If you have set up the alarm, it also shows the Alarm icon.
Getting Started 33 W eather W eather shows you the current w eather as well as weather information f or the next four days of the week. The first time you use this featur e, you need to select your city first to download weather information. T o select your city 2 1 3 4 1.

52 Entering T ext and Searching for Information XT9 mode By default, the T ouch K eyboard is set to XT9 mode. XT9 is a predictive text input mode which displays a word candidate list as y ou enter the first few characters so you just select the word that you want.

60 Using Phone Features 3.1 Using the Phone Like a standard mobile phone, you can use your device to make, r eceive, and keep track of calls and send messages. Y ou can also dial directly from Contacts, and easily copy phonebook entries from y our SIM card to Contacts on your device.
Using Phone F eatures 61 T o enable or disable Airplane Mode Another way to turn off the phone function is to switch your device to Airplane Mode . When you enable Airplane Mode, all wireless radios on your device are turned off, including the phone function and Bluetooth.
62 Using Phone Features 3.2 Making a Call With your device, you can make a call from Phone , C ontacts , Speed Dial , Call History , and SIM Manager . Make a call from Phone 1. T ap Start > Phone . 2. T ap K eypad , then tap the keys on the keypad to enter the phone number .

The tabs represent diff erent types of calls on your device and are arranged by (from left to right): Outgoing calls, Incoming calls, Missed calls, and All calls.
64 Using Phone Features T o call voice mail Number 1 is generally reserved for your voice mail. T ap and hold this button on the Phone screen keypad to call voice mail and r etrieve your voice mail messages.

When you start entering a phone number or contact name, Smart Dial automatically searches and sorts the contact entries on the SIM card, in Contacts, and the phone numbers in Call Histor y (including incoming, outgoing, and missed calls).
68 Using Phone Features When you start entering a number or letter, the Smart Dial panel will display matches found . Tip If there are several matches found , you can tap Hide Keypad to view them.
Using Phone F eatures 69 3.5 Setting Up Bluetooth SIM Acc ess for C ar Kit Phones Bluetooth car kits that suppor t the SIM Access Pr ofile (SAP) can connect to your device and access its SIM card via Bluetooth. Once a SAP connection has been established, you can download SIM contacts from your device t o the car kit phone.

106 Exchanging Messages 7.1 Messaging Messaging is where your text messages (SMS), multimedia messages (MMS), and e-mails are located. When you receive new messages , you can open them from the T oday screen by tapping the type of message that you want to open.
