10 2.6 Locking and Unlo cking the Screen 2.6.1 Locking the Screen • When your phon e is on, press to lock t he screen. W hen the scree n is locked, you can still receive mes sages and calls. • If your phone is idle for a while , the screen will lock automatically.
11 3. Ensure that your face is at th e center of the captu re screen, and then wa it for the phone to capture a photo. After a photo has been taken, touch Continue . 4. Choose an unlock method, and configure t he unlock settings. If face identific ation fails, unlock the phone usin g the alternative method you h ave selected.

13 2.7. 2 Notif icat ion Pa nel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new mess age or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel also inf orms you of alarms and settings. Open the notification panel to see your network operator o r to view a message, remind er, or event no tificati on.
14 2.7.3 Viewing Other P arts of the Home Screen 2.7.4 Customizing the Home Screen Adding a New Home Scree n Item 1. On the Home screen, touch to display the application list. 2. Press and hold an application icon, and then drag the icon to a blank a rea on the Home screen.
15 Managing Folders on the Home Screen • To create a folder: Drag an application icon onto another application icon to creat e a new folder that contain s both icons. • To rename a folder: On the Home s creen, touch a folder, and t hen touch the folder name field beneath it.
16 2.8. 1 Moving Ic ons on t he Appl icat ion Scr een 1. On the application screen, touch . 2. Touch and hold the icon you want to move on the application screen. 3. Without lifting your finger, drag the ic on to the desired location , and then release it.

20 3.3 Other Op erations During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Co nference Call If you receive a new call while you ar e already in a call, you can add the second call t o the call you are in. Th is feature is known as conference callin g. You can also set u p a conference call with multiple callers.
21 Call recordings will be saved to the microSD card if it is available; if not, they will be saved to the phone memory. Generally, call rec ordings are saved in the record folder in the root d irectory. If the call ends while being recorded , the recording will automatically stop and be saved.
22 4.3 Adding a Contact 1. In the contact list, touch . 2. From th e screen displ ayed, crea te a contact in your mobile phone, SIM ca rd or your account. Add a new a ccount if you do not have one. 3. Enter the contact's name, and then add de tailed information such as phon e numbers and address .
23 4.7 Communicati ng with Your Con tacts You can quick ly call or sen d a text (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) message to a contact's default phone number. You ca n also open details to v iew a list of all the way s you can communicate with that contac t.
24 4.9.1 Using a microSD Card to B ack Up Contacts Backi ng Up Cont acts 1. In the contact list, touch > Manage contacts . 2. From the displayed menu, touc h Export to storage . After touching Export to storage , a message is displayed t o show the storage location of the .

27 5.3 Using the Android Keyboa rd The keyboard layout may v ary slightly depending on the fie ld where you are entering text. The previous figur e is provided f or your refere nce only.
28 • : Copy the se lected text. Touch and hold the text. Drag the grab point s to select text you want to copy. Touch this button t o copy the text. Afte r the text is copied, touch a blank a rea in the text field to display . Move to where you want to paste the tex t.
29 2. Enter a phone number or a contact's name in t he To field, or touch to sele ct a contact from People . As you enter the phone n umber or the cont act's name, the phone displays possible matches fro m your contact s. Select a cont act from the list of possible matches or continue entering.
30 6.3.1 Adding a Slideshow If you want to attach more than one file to you r message, use the Slideshow option . 1. On the message composing screen, touch to display the options pan el. 2. Touch Slideshow , and then select a slide to edit. 3. Touch then Add slide to add more slides.
31 7 Getting Connected 7.1 Mobile Netw orks Your mobile phone will be automatically configured to use your network operator's 2G/3G service (if av ailable) when you t urn on the phone f or the first time . Note that the SIM/UIM card must be inserted (so me CDMA mobile phones have an integrated UIM card and do not need a separat e UIM card) 7.
32 7.2.1 Turning On Wi-Fi 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Under WIRELESS & NETWOR KS , touch the button next to Wi-Fi . 7.2.2 Connec ting to a Wireless Network 1. After turning on Wi-Fi, touch > Settings . 2. Under WIRELESS & NETWOR KS , touch Wi-Fi to display th e Wi-Fi screen.
33 1. Connect a USB cable to a computer. The co mputer will automatically recognize the phone. 2. Choose Start > My Computer , and then double-c lick Mobile Partner . 3. Open the drivers folder and then open the usbnet_driver_win2k_xp folder. Double-click the link DownloadActiveSync.
34 On the Home screen, touch > Settings > Data usage to configure the data usage settings: • Touch Mobile data to turn on or off the mobile data function. The mobile data function must be turned on t o configure dat a control and que ry data usage .

36 7.5.5 Customizing Browser Settings Customize the br owser to suit your bro wsing style. Use Browser to set page co ntent, privacy, and secu rity preferences.
37 Before using the Bluetooth, perf orm the following steps to pair your mobile phon e with another Bluetooth dev ice: 1. Ensure that the Bluetooth function on your mobile phone is en abled. 2. Under WIRELESS & NETWORKS , touch Bluetooth .Your mobile phone will the n scan for Bluetooth dev ices in range.
38 8 Email Your mobile phone also puts email at your fingertips. With you r phone's Email application, you can u se your email account with Yahoo!, AOL, or other popular email services on your phone. 8.1 Adding an Email Accou nt When us ing the Email application for the first time , you must configure an email account.
39 8.4 Saving an Email Attachment 1. On the Inbox screen, touch the email messag e you want to view. 2. Touch the attachment tab to display t he attachment. 3. Touch Save to download the attach ment. After being download ed, the attachment is saved in the Downloa d folder on the microSD ca rd.
40 8.8 Changin g Email Account Sett ings You can change a number of acc ount settings, including th e email checking frequency, new mail notification met hod, and details about the account 's email sending and receiving ser vers. Your account's inco ming and outgoing settings depe nd on the kind of email service you are using.

45 9.4 Listening to the FM Radio The FM radio lets you listen to FM radio programs on yo ur mobile phone. Since the FM radio uses the provided wired ste reo headset as its antenna, befo re opening the application, connect the head set to your phone's the aud io jack.
46 10.1 Creating a Google Accoun t If you do n ot have a Go ogle account, y ou can create one: 1. After reading the setup information, touc h New . 2. Enter the first name, last name, and then touch Next . 3. Enter the user name for your Google acc ount, and then touch Next .

You can use it to communicate in real time with other people using Talk on a phone or on the web. 10.3.1 Opening Talk On the Home screen, touch > Talk to open the application. Your Talk account is bas ed on the Google accou nt you set up w ith your mobile phone.
49 10.3.6 Signing out of Talk On the friends list screen, touc h , and then touch Sign out to quit Talk . 10.4 Maps Maps lets you find your current loc ation, view real-time traffic c onditions (depending on availability in your locale), and get deta iled directions to vari ous destinations.

Your search results will then be display ed. Touch a place you are interes ted in and the application will show where it is on the map.
