8 2.4 Power On o r Off Your Mobile Phon e 2.4.1 Powering On Your M obile Phone Press . The first time you power on your phone, you will be asked to sign in to your account and set up y our mobile phone. If personal ident ification number (P IN) protection is enabled on your mobile phone, you must enter your PIN befor e using the mobile phone.
9 2.5 Using the Touchscreen 2.5.1 Touchscree n Actions • Touch : Tap the screen with yo ur finger to select an item, confirm a selection, or start an app lication. • Touch and hold : Touch an item with your finger and do not release it until the mobile phone responds .
10 2.6.2 Unlocking the Screen 1. Press or to wake up th e screen. 2. Drag the lock icon from left to right to unlock the screen. If you have set up a screen unlock pattern, you will be p rompted to draw the pattern on the screen to unlock it.

12 2.7. 2 Notifi cation Pa nel Your mobile phone will notify you wh en you receive a new message or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel also inf orms you of alarms and settings. Open the notification panel to see your network operator o r to view a message, reminder, or event no tificati on.

14 Moving a Home Screen Item 1. Touch and hold an item on the Home screen until the item expands in size and the mobile phone vibrates. 2. Without lifting your f inger, drag the item to the desired p osition on the screen, a nd then release it. Removing a Home Screen Item 1.
15 2.8. 1 Moving Icons on the Appl ication S creen 1. On the application scree n, touch . 2. Touch and hold the icon you w ant to move on the application scre en. 3. Without lifting your f inger, drag the icon to the desired location, and then rele ase it.
16 3 Calling To make a phone call, you can dial a number us ing the keypad or touch a numbe r saved in your contact list, on a web page, or in other places. When yo u are in a call, you can answer other incoming calls or redirect them to your voicemail.
17 3.1. 3 Making a Call f rom Call l og 1. On the Home screen, touch > Call log to display the call log. If you are alre ady working wi th Contacts or Dialer , touch the Call lo g tab. 2. Touch to the right of the log entry to dial. If you touch and ho ld a log entry, the options menu will open .
18 3.2.3 Rejecting an Incoming Call Drag to the left t o reject the call. 3.3 Other Op erations During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Co nference Call If you receive a new call while you ar e already in a c all, you can add th e second call to the call you are in.
19 3.3. 2 Switchin g Between Cal ls If you receive a new ca ll while you are already in a ca ll, you can switch betwee n the two calls. 1. While yo u are in the f irst call and the second call c omes in, answer the incoming call, and then touch Swap calls .
20 4 Contacts The Contacts application enables you to sa ve and manage information such as phone numbers and addres ses of your contacts. Af ter you save contact informa tion on your mobile phone, you hav e easy access to the peo ple with whom you want to communicate.
21 4.4 Adding a Contact to Your Favorites • Touch and hold the contact you w ant to add to Favorites . Then to uch Add to Favorites . • Touch a con tact, and then touch the star to the right of the co ntact’s name. The st ar turns gold. 4.5 Searching for a Con tact 1.
22 4.7. 1 Using Quick Contact for Androi d 1. Touch the contact's pict ure or picture frame (if you have not assigned a pic ture to the contact) to open Quick Contact for Android. 2. Touch the icon for the way y ou want to communicate wi th the contact.
23 Restoring Contacts 1. In the contact list, touc h > Manage contacts . 2. Touch Restore from SD ca rd in the di splayed menu. If there is more than one .vcf files saved on the microSD card, you ca n choose to restore one, multiple, or all the of them.
24 4.10.3 Preference Settings You can configure accou nt settings, such as refres h mode, refresh frequency , and notifications. 1. On the Streams s creen, touch > Accounts . Then touch the acco unt to be configured. 2. On the account scre en, touch Social Preference Settings to configure the settings.
25 4.11.2 Editing a Group You can always make ch anges to the information yo u have saved for a group. 1. In the groups list, touch and hold the group whose det ails you want to edit, and then touch Edit group in the options menu. 2. Make the desired cha nges to the group informa tion, and then touch Save .
26 4.12.1 Joining Contac ts 1. On the Home screen, touch > Contacts . 2. Touch a duplicated conta ct. 3. Touch Joined Contacts , and then touch Add contact . 4. Select the contact to be join ed to combine two duplicate con tacts. Two contacts will be joined t ogether and displayed as one contact.
27 5 Using the Onscreen Keyboard 5.1 Displaying th e Keyboard To enter text, use the onsc reen keyboard. Some applic ations open the keyboar d automatically. In others, touch a text field to open the keybo ard. Touch to hide the keyb oard. Touch and hold a text field to open the Edit text menu.
28 6.1 SMS and MMS 6.1.1 Opening M essaging Touch > Messaging . 6.1. 2 Creati ng and Send ing a Text Message 1. Touch > Messaging > New message . 2. Enter a phone number or a c ontact's name in the To field, or touch t o select a contact from Contacts or Groups .

31 Adding Other Email Accounts 1. After creating your init ial email account, touch on the Inbox screen, and then touch More > Accounts to acce ss the account s screen. 2. Touch on the accounts screen , and then touch Add account to create another email account.
32 6.2. 5 Replying t o an Email Mes sage 1. On the accounts scree n, touch the email account you wa nt to use. 2. Touch the email message to which you want to reply. 3. Touch Reply or Reply all to reply to the email message. 6.2. 6 Deleting an Email Acc ount 1.
33 7.1.1 Checking the Network Connec tion 1. Touch > Settings . 2. Touch Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Network Settings . 3. Touch Network operators or Access Point Name s to check the ne twork connection. Your mobile phone will automatically read the acces s point settings from the SIM/UIM card ( if any).

Touch a Wi-Fi network to connect to it. • If you select an open network, you will be automatically connected to the network . • If you select a network t hat is secured with Wired Eq uivalent Privacy (WE P) and connect to it for the firs t time, enter the password as prompted, and then touch Connect .
35 7.3.2 Sharing Your Phone’s Data Connection via USB To use USB tethering in di fferent operating systems , you may need to prepare your computer to establish a netwo rk connection via USB. You cannot share your mob ile phone’s data connect ion and access its microSD card via USB at the same time.
36 Touch to open the browse r options menu and perform one of the following operations: • New window : Touch to open a new wind ow. • Bookmarks : Touch to display bookmarks . • Windows : Touch to view thum bnails of open browser win dows. You can sw itch to another browse r window or open a new on e on this screen.
37 Opening a Bookmark 1. In a browser windo w, touch , and then touch Bookmarks . On the Bookmarks screen, touch the Histor y tab to view the pages you have visited, or touch the Most visited tab to view the pages you have vis ited most frequently. 2.
38 7.5. 2 Pairing wit h and Connecti ng to a Blu etooth Devi ce Your mobile Bluetooth lets you do t he following: • Hands Free Prof ile (HFP): allows yo u to use a hands-free Bl uetooth device. • Headset Profile (H SP): allows you to use a mono B luetooth headset.
39 8 Entertainment In addition to being a communication dev ice and personal assistan t, your mobile phone also provides you with a multitude of entertainmen t possibilities. You can take photos, create videos and au dio clips, and download and listen to musi c.

Yo u can take another p hoto or review your photos. 8.1. 3 Viewing Your Phot os 1. After taking a photo, a thumbnail of the photo you have just taken is shown in the upper right corner of the capture screen.
41 8.2 Using the Gallery Your Gallery application can automatically s earch for pictures and videos on your mobile phone and microSD card. Use Gallery to sort photos a nd videos into folders , view and edit pictures, wa tch videos, and set a picture as w allpaper or as a photo for a contact.
42 8.2.4 Cropping a Picture 1. When viewing a pictur e, touch to display the o peration panel, and then touc h More > Crop . 2. Use the cropping tool t o select the portion of the picture to crop. • Drag from the inside of the crop ping tool to move it.
43 8.3. 3 Playing Mus ic 1. Touch a category on th e music library screen. 2. Touch the song you want to play. When you are listening to music, t ouch , to use another application. Y our music continues to play. To retur n to the music controls, open the not ification panel and then touch the song.
44 8.4 Listening to the FM Radio The FM radio lets you listen to FM radio programs on yo ur mobile phone. Since the FM radio uses the provided wired ste reo headset as its antenna, before op ening the application, connect the head set to your phone’s the audio jack .
45 9.1 Creating a Google Acco unt If you do n ot have a Go ogle account, you can create one : 1. After reading the setu p information, touch Next . 2. Touch Create . 3. Enter the first name, la st name, and user name for your Goog le account, and then touch Next .
46 9.2. 3 Creating and Sending a n Email 1. In the mail list, touch , and then touch Compose . 2. Enter the message re cipient’s email address in the To field. If you are sending the email to several recipie nts, separate the ema il addresses with commas.
47 9.3 Talk Talk is Google’s instant messaging service. You c an use it to communicate in real time with other people using Talk on a phone or on the web. 9.3.1 Opening T alk On the Home screen, touch > Talk to open the application. Your Talk account is bas ed on the Google accou nt you set up wi th your mobile phone.
48 9.3.5 Setting Notifications for New Instant Messages Whenever you receive an ins tant message, your mobile phone c an play a sound, vibrate, or display an icon. To set up one of these handy notificat ions, start in the friends list, and then touch .

Depending on your sync hronization setti ngs, the calendar on your ph one can be synchronized w ith the internet -based calendar you use. 11.2.1 Opening Calenda r On the Home screen, touch > Calendar to open the application.

61 3. Select the city you wan t to add. In addition to your current city, you can add up to four more cities to the weather clock and get weather informat ion for all of them at the same time. 4. Touch > More > Set as d efault city to set the n ewly added city a s the default city.
62 12.1 Setting the Date and Time By default, your mobile phone aut omatically uses the date, time, and time zon e provided by the network . When your mobile phone is using the dat e and time settings provided automatically by the netwo rk, you cannot manually set the dat e, time, and time zone.

68 12.8.2 Restoring Factory Data If you reset your phone to the set tings that were configur ed at the factory, all of your personal data sto red on the phone, inc luding information about your Google Accoun t, any other accounts, you r system and application sett ings, and any applications you have downloaded will be erase d.
