1 1 About this docume nt Thank you for choosing the HUA WEI MediaPad. This document is intended for HUA W EI MediaPad that runs EM U I 3.0 .5 /EMUI 3.1 . Figures in this document are screeshot s taken under the Bloom them e. Switch to the Bloom theme to better understand this guide.
2 2 Getting st arted Locking and unlocking the screen Locking the screen : If your HUAWEI MediaPad has been idle for a specified period of time, the screen locks itsel f automatically . Y ou can also press the power button to lo ck the screen. Unlocking the scree n : Press the power button to turn on the screen.
3 Search Delete data Refresh Save Favorites Call Home screen operations T o open an application: On the home screen, touch the applic ation. T o switch between t he home screen and its extensions: On the home screen, flick your finger left or right.
4 Opening the notification and shortcut p anels: Slide down from the sta tus bar to open the notification panel. Flick lef t or right to switch between the no tifications and shortcuts tabs . Touch a notification to view its details a nd flick left or right across a notif ication t o dismiss it.
5 Touch the shortcut switches on the notification panel to turn on or off the functions. Touch and hold a sw itch to enter the settings screen of the corresponding function. Slide down the shortcut switches, you can then touch Edit to custom ize the li st.
6 4 Networ k connection Connecting to a Wi - Fi networ k 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi - Fi . 2. Toggle the switch of Wi - Fi to to turn on Wi - Fi. Your HUAWEI MediaPad then scans for available Wi - Fi networks. 3. Select the desired Wi - Fi network and follow the onscreen instru ctions.
7 5 Network sharin g Y ou c an use various methods to share your HUA WEI MediaPad's data connection with other wireless devices. Sharing your data connection using a Wi - Fi hotspot (Applicable to select ed models) By setting up your HUA W EI MediaPad as a Wi - Fi ho tspot, you can share your mobile network with other devices.
8 Sharing your data connection through Bl uetooth tethering (Applicable to sel ected models) With Bluetooth tethering, you can share y our HUA WEI MediaPad's data connection with other Bluetooth dev ices. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings . 2.
9 6 Cont act s Creating a contact 1. On the home screen, touch Contac ts to display your contacts list. 2. Touch . 3. Enter the related information, such as the contact's name, phone number, and email address. 4. Touch Add another field to add more information.
10 Backing up contacts Y ou c an back up your conta cts to a microSD card in ca se your contacts are ac cidentally deleted or lost. 1. On the home screen, touch Contacts to display your contacts list. 2. Touch > Import/ Export . 3. Touch Export to storage .
11 7 Calls (Applicabl e to selected models) Making an emergency call In the event of an emergency , you can make emergency calls without a SIM card. How ever , you must still be within the coverage area. 1. On the home screen, touch Dialer . 2. Enter a local emergency number and touch .
12 T o delete all or multiple call log entries: On the Dialer screen, touch > Delete call log . Select the Sele ct al l check box and touch to delete all call log entries.
13 8 Messagin g (Applicable to selected models) Searching for a message If you are having trouble finding a specific message in a pile of messages, this function can come to your rescue. 1. On the home screen, touch Messaging . 2. Enter a keyword in the search box.
14 9 Managing applica tions Inst alling an appli cation Y ou c an obtain and inst all an application using any of the following methods: Download it from an online app store or by using a browser . After the application is downloaded, follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
15 10 Multimedia Taking an all - focus photo In all - focus mode, you can change the focal point of a photo af ter it's been taken. 1. On the home screen, touch Camera . 2. Touch > Al l - focus to switch to all - focus mode. 3. Touch to take a photo.
16 1. On your HUAWEI MediaPad's home screen, touch Files > Local > USB . 2. Touch or ,select the photos or folders you w ant to import into your HUAWEI MediaPad. 3. Touch Copy or Cut . 4. Ch oose where you want to save the files and tou ch Paste .
17 Scannin g a QR code using the camera (Applicable to selected models) 1. On the home screen, touch Camera . 2. Frame the QR code with the camera. 3. After the QR code is successfull y scanned , touch View detai ls . Scanning a QR code using Gallery (Appli cable to selected model s) 1.
18 11 Customized settings Changing the theme Y our HUA WEI MediaPad comes with multiple themes, easily allowing your device to have a new look as often a s you want . 1. On the home screen, touch Themes . 2. Flick left or right to browse different local and online themes.
19 Managing home screens On the home screen, pinch three fingers together to display the home screen t humbnails. Setting the defaul t home screen : T ouch a t the bottom of the screen and select the current home screen as the defaul t home screen.
20 Setting the font size 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Display . 2. Touch Font size . 3. Select the desired font size. Adjusting the screen bright ness 1.
21 5. Under Set private data , set your private contacts, albums, and applications . T o disable privacy protec tion, unlock you r HUAWEI MediaPad using the o wner password. Enter the Privacy protection screen, enter the o wner password, and then disable Privacy protection .
22 12 File sharing Sharing files using Wi - Fi Direct Wi - Fi Direct is a function to connect wireless dev ices using a Wi - Fi network. After wireless devices are connected, they can qui ckly share files among them. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi - Fi .
23 Y ou can find the Wi -F i network name and passw ord of the HUA WEI MediaQ in the upper left corner of the TV . Connect your HUA WEI MediaPad and HUA WE I MediaQ to your home Wi - Fi network.
24 4. On the home screen of your HUAWEI MediaPad, flick down from the status bar to o pen the no tification panel. 5. Open your notification panel. Under Shortcuts, touch , select the receiving device, and start the multi - screen display. Copying files from a computer Use a USB cable to connect y our HUAWEI MediaPad to a computer .
25 13 Settings Motion control (Applicable t o selected models) Motion control lets you control your HUA WEI MediaPad using simple motions. For example, mute the phone or answer and ma ke calls quickly . 1. On the home screen, touch Settings . 2. Touch Motion cont rol .
26 Checking the memory status Before moving a large file to y our HUAWEI MediaPad's in ternal storage or the microSD card, check the available storage sp ace that has left on it . 1. On the home screen, touch Settings . 2. T ouch Storage t o view memory inform ation.
27 1. On the home screen, t ouch Tool s > System Update to v iew the system information. 2. Touch Check for updates . If a new version is available, f ollow the onscreen instructions to update online. You can also choose > Local update to update the system using a local update package.
