9 2.2.2 Charging the Battery Before charging the battery, ensure tha t it has been properly installe d on your phone. 1. Connect the USB cable that c ame with your mobile phone to th e charger. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to your mobile pho ne.
10 2.2. 3 Import ant I nformat ion Abo ut the Bat tery • If the battery has not been used for a long time, you may not be able to power on your mobile phone immediately af ter you begin charging the bat tery. Allow the battery to charge for a few minut es with the phone powere d off before attempting to power the phone on.
11 • Turn off the data service. 2.3 Power On o r Off Your Mobile Phon e 2.3.1 Powering On Your Mo bile Phone Press . The first time you power on your phone, you will be asked to sign in to your account and set up y our mobile phone.
12 2.4 Using the To uchscreen 2.4.1 Touchscree n Actions • Touch : Tap the screen wit h your finger to se lect an item, confirm a sele ction, or start an app lication. • Touch and hold : Touch an item with your fin ger and do not release it until the mobile phone responds .
13 2.5.2 Unlocking the S creen 1. Press to wake up the screen. 2. Drag the lock icon from left to right to unlock the screen. If you have set up a screen unlock pattern, you will be prompted to draw the pattern on the screen to unlock it. 2.6 Home Screen 10:23 Touch to view all your applications.
14 Touch and hold a shortcut until the mobile phone vib rates, you can then drag it to your desired location or move it to the t rash. You can also drag an icon from another area of the scree n to the shortcut position.
15 2.6. 2 Noti ficat ion Pa nel Your mobile phone will notify y ou when you receive a new me ssage or there is an upcoming event. The notification panel al so informs you of alarms and settings. Ope n the notification panel to see your network operat or or to view a message, reminder, or event no tifica tion.
16 Opening the Notification P anel 1. When a new notification icon appears on the notificat ion bar, place your fin ger on the notification bar and flick down to open t he notification panel. You can also open the notifica tion panel from the Home screen : Touch > Notification s to open the panel.

21 Drag to the right to answer the call. 3.2.2 Ending a Call During a call, touch End to hang up. 3.2.3 Rejecting an Inco ming Call Drag to the left to re ject the call. You can also drag up the bar at the bott om of the screen to r eject a call and send the caller a message.
22 3.3 Other Opera tions During a Call 3.3.1 Making a Conferenc e Call If you receive a new call while yo u are already in a call, you can add the second c all to the call you are in . This feature is known as conference ca lling. You can also s et up a conference call with multiple callers.
23 3. Touch Add to contacts in the options menu. 4. Touch Create contact or scroll t hrough the c ontact list and touch an ex isting contact name. 3.5 Using Airplane Mode Some locations may require you to turn o ff your phone’s wir eless connect ions.
24 5. If you have more than one accou nt on your phone, to uch the account into w hich you want t o import the contacts. 4.3 Adding a Contact 1. In the contact list, touch > Create contact . 2. If you have more than one accou nt with contacts, to uch the account to wh ich you want to add the co ntact.

To cancel all of your change s, touch Cancel . 4.7 Communicating with Your Contacts From the Contacts or Favorites tab, you can quickly call or se nd a text (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) message to a contact’s default phone numb er.
26 4.9 Backing Up and Synchronizing Contacts You can back up c ontacts from your pho ne to a microSD card , or synchronize pho ne contacts with a serv er using your Google account . 4.9.1 Using a m icroSD Card to Back Up Contacts Backi ng Up Cont acts 1.
27 4.10.1 Logging in to a n Account 1. The first time you access Streams, touc h Login to Social Network . 2. Select the type of account that yo u want to log in to. Then follow the on-screen setup instructions to complete login. You can log in to different type s of accounts at the same time.
28 4.11 Managing Grou ps 4.11.1 Creating a Group 1. On the Home screen, touch > Contacts . Then flick the tab bar to the lef t and touch Groups . 2. In the groups list, touch , and then touch Create group . 3. Enter the name and picture you wan t to assign to th e group, and then set a ringtone for it.
29 4.12 Joining and Sep arating Contacts You may have duplicate c ontacts if you import conta cts by: • Adding an account , such as a Gmail account. • Using the social net working services s uch as Facebook or Tw itter. (If your phone has the Streams fu nction, you can use it to a ccess Facebook or Twit ter.
30 4.13 Sending Contacts You can send contacts as a .vc f file via Bluetooth or Email. 1. In the contacts list, touch . 2. Select contacts that you want to send. 3. Touch Send . 4. Select the way you prefer to send the c ontacts you have se lected, for example Bluetooth or Email.
31 5.1. 2 Usin g the Andr oid Key board The keyboard layout may v ary slightly depending on the fie ld where you are entering text. The previous f igure is provide d for your ref erence only. On the Home screen, touch > Settings > Language & keyboard > Android keyboard > Voice input to turn on or turn off voice input.
32 6 Messaging The Messaging application allows you to exchange text messages (SMS) and multimedia messages (MMS) with anyone using an SMS-or-MMS -capable phone. With the Email application you can read and s end emails. 6.1 SMS and MMS 6.1.1 Opening M essaging Touch > Messaging .
33 4. Touch to display the optio ns panel.Touch Add subject to add the message subject. Your mobile phone is now in mult imedia message mode. 5. When the message is ready to be sent , touch . On the message editing screen , you can a lso touch , and then select your desired files to add.
34 6.1.6 Copying a T ext Message to Notepad or Calend ar 1. In the message list, touch a text message t hread to open it. 2. Touch and hold one of the messag es, and then touch Copy message to . 3. Touch Notepad or Calendar to sav e it as a note or an even t.

When adding an additional email acco unt, you have the option to use the new account to sen d all outgoing messa ges. 6.2.2 Viewing an Email Message 1. 37 Your mobile phone will automatically read the acces s point settings from the SIM/UIM card ( if any). For this reason, do not chan ge the access point parameters; otherwis e, you might not be able to access netw ork resources. 7.1.2 Turning on the D ata Service 1.
38 7.3 Sharing You r Phone’s Data Connection You can shar e your mobi le phone's data connection with a single com puter via a USB cable: USB tethering . You can share your mobile phon e's data connection w ith a number of devices at the sa me time, by turning your ph one into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
39 7.4.1 Connecting to a Wireless N etwork via the WPS Button 1. Turn on Wi-Fi, and then access the Wi-Fi setting s screen. 2. Touch WPS button connection . 3. Press the WPS button of the Wi-Fi access point. When your phone con nects to the network, it displays a message.

46 8.3 Enjoying Mus ic 8.3.1 Opening the Music Library On the Home screen, touch > Music to open the music library. The music libra ry automatically s cans for music stored on your microSD card and displays them in Albums ， Songs ， Playlis ts ， Folders .
47 8.3. 2 Playi ng Music 1. From the music library, se lect a way to vi ew your musi c. 2. Touch the music file you want to play. While playing music, touch to return to the Home screen, the music will continue to play in the background and y ou can use other applicat ions.
48 8.3. 5 Playi ng Music in a Pl ayli st 1. In music library, touch Playl ists . 2. Touch and hold the playlist you want to play. 3. Touch Play to play the playlist. 8.4 Listening to th e FM Radio The FM radio lets you listen to FM radio programs on your mobile phone.
49 9.1 Creating a Goog le Account If you do n ot have a Go ogle account, y ou can creat e one: 1. After reading the setup information , touch Next . 2. Touch Create . 3. Enter the first name, last name, and user name for your Google ac count, and then touch Next .
50 9.2. 3 Creat ing and Sending a n Email 1. In the mail list, touch , and then touch Compose . 2. Enter the message recipie nt’s email address in the To field. If you are sending the email to several recipie nts, separate the e mail addresses with co mmas.
51 9.3 Talk Talk is Google’s instant messaging servic e. You can use it to communicate in real time with other people using Talk on a phone or on the web. 9.3.1 Opening T alk On the Home screen, touch > Talk to open the application. Your Talk account is bas ed on the Google acc ount you set up with your mobile phone.
52 9.3. 6 Signi ng out of Talk On the friends list screen, touc h , and then touch Sign out to quit Talk . 9.4 Maps Maps lets you find your curren t location, view real-time traffi c conditions (depend ing on availability in your locale), and get deta iled directions to vari ous destinations.

56 10.1.1 Adding an Account When you add an account , the Contacts application compares cont acts from the newly synchronized ac count with contact s from your existing mo bile phone accounts and attempts to merge duplic ates into a single entry in Contacts .
57 remove some accounts, suc h as the first account you signed into on the mobile phone. If you attempt to remove cert ain accounts, all personal informat ion associated with it will be deleted. You can only remove the fir st Google Account by reset ting the phone to factory defaults.
58 10.2.2 Changing a n Account’s Synch ronization Settings 1. On the Accounts & sync settings screen, touch the acc ount whose synchronizat ion settings you want to cha nge. The data and synchron ization screen opens, displaying a list of th e kinds of information the acc ount can synchronize.
59 11.2 Traffic Manager Traffic Manager allows you to enter t he total amount of traffic included in your 2G/3G monthly package and set traffic notification threshold s.
60 11.4 Calendar Use Calendar to create and manage even ts, meetings, and appointments. Depending on your sy nchronization set tings, the calendar on yo ur phone can be synchronized w ith the inter net-based calendar you us e. 11.4.1 Opening Calenda r On the Home screen, touch > Calendar to open t he application.

66 11.10 Weat her Clock You can us e Weather Clock to check the date and t ime of cities around the world, to get the latest weather of any cit y in any time and to share weath er information with others. You need to turn on the GPS and data service on your phone bef ore using weather clock.
67 11.10.4 Sharing Wea ther Information 1. On the weather clock screen, touc h > Share weather . 2. Enter a phone number or a contact's name in the To field, or touch to select a Contacts or Groups . 3. Touch to send weather inform ation to the recip ient.
68 12.2 Setting the Display 12.2.1 Adjusting the Screen Brightness 1. On the Settings screen, touch Displa y > Brightness . 2. Drag the slider left to make the screen darker, or right to make it br ighter.

70 12.5 Configuring Text-to-Spee ch Use the Text-to-Sp eech settings to con figure the Android text -to-speech sy nthesizer, for applications t hat can take advantage of this feature. 12.5.1 Installing Voice Data 1. On the Settings screen, touch Voice input & output > Text-to-speech settings > Install voice data .
71 2. Flick your finger vertically , horizontally or diagonally , connect at least four dot s in any order you choo se. Lift your finger from the s creen when you are finish ed. You must drag y our finger betw een the dots on t he screen to create the pattern, not simply touch individual dots.

77 13.4 Synchronizing Co ntacts You can synchroniz e your contacts from your phone to the server, or vice versa. 1. On the Home screen, touch > Cloud+ Settings > Sync settings .
