8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attac hment guard This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr acked.
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS If the muffler on y our machine is fitted with a spar k arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly . A block ed mesh will cause the engine to ov erheat and may lead to serious damage. Loc king nut A locking n ut is used to secure some types of cutting attachment.
10 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting the loop handle • P osition the handle on the shaft. Note that the handle must be mounted below the arro w on the shaft. • Fit the screw , securing plate and wing nut as shown in the diagram. • Tighten the wing nut.
English – 11 FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate . 2 If you ha ve spilt fuel on y ourself or your clothes , change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
12 – English FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
English – 13 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k before starting • Ne ver star t the machine indoors. Exhaust fumes can be dangerous if inhaled. • Obser ve y our surroundings and make sure that there is no risk of people or animals coming into contact with the cutting equipment.
14 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Repeat pulling the cord until the engine star ts. When the engine star ts. retur n choke control to run position and apply full throttle; the throttle will automatically disengage from the star t setting.

16 – English W ORKING TECHNIQUES Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the g round at an angle. It is the end of the cord that does the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Nev er press the cord into the area to be cut.

18 – English MAINTENANCE High speed jet H The high speed jet H aff ects the engine power , speed, temperature and fuel consumption. If the high speed jet H is set too lean (screw ed in too far) the engine speed will be too high and cause engine damage.
English – 19 MAINTENANCE 1 Air intake on the starter . 2 Fins on the flywheel. 3 Cooling fins on the cylinder . 4 Cylinder cov er (directs cold air ov er the cylinder). Clean the cooling system with a brush once a week, more often in demanding conditions.
