8 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting attachment guar d This guard is intended to pre vent loose objects from being thrown to wards the operator . The guard also protects the operator from accidental contact with the cutting attachment. Check that the guard is undamaged and not cr ack ed.
English – 9 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty muffler . Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine. If the muffler on y our machine is fitted with a spark arrestor mesh this must be cleaned regularly .
10 – English GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS Cutting equipment Saw b lades are intended f or cutting fibrous types of wood. Grass b lades and grass cutters are intended f or cutting coarse grass .
English – 11 GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS so , this should be done bef ore filing with a round file. The top edges must be filed down b y the same amount for all the teeth. • Adjust the blade setting. This should be 1 mm. T rimmer head • Only use the recommended trimmer heads and tr immer cords.
12 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting the handlebar (232R) • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle . • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram). • Align the screw hole in the throttle handle with the hole in the handlebar .
English – 13 ASSEMBL Y T ranspor t position, handlebar • The handlebar can easily be turned to fit along the shaft f or easier transpor tation and storage. • Loosen the knob . T ur n the handlebar clockwise so that the throttle handle rests against the engine.
14 – English ASSEMBL Y Fitting a blade guar d, grass blade and grass cutter (235R, 235FR) • Hook the blade guard/combination guard (A) onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt. CA UTION! Ensure that the guard extension is remo ved. Use the recommended blade guard.

Fitting the b lade guard and sa w blade (235R, 235FR) • Remov e the mounting plate (H). Fit the adapter (I) and brac ket (J) with the two scre ws (K) as shown.
16 – English ASSEMBL Y • Place the cov er (I) and the suppor t flange (F) on the output shaft. • Fit the nut (G). Tighten the nut to a torque of 35-50 Nm (3.5-5 kpm). Use the sock et spanner in the tool kit. Grasp the handle of the spanner as close to the trimmer guard as possible .
English – 17 ASSEMBL Y Hang the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M). Bend the guard around the shaft and tighten it with the bolt (L) on the opposite side of the shaft. Use the locking pin (C). Place the locking pin in the groov e on the screw head and tighten.
18 – English FUEL HANDLING Fuel safety Ne ver start the machine: 1 If you ha v e spilt fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allo w remaining fuel to e vapor ate. 2 If you ha v e spilt fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes . W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
English – 19 FUEL HANDLING Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended f or fuel. • Alwa ys star t b y filling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.
20 – English ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Chec k bef ore star ting • Check the b lade to ensure that no crac ks hav e formed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole .
English – 21 ST AR TING AND ST OPPING Primer b ulb: Press the air purge repeatedly until fuel begins to fill the bulb . The b ulb need not be completely filled. Starting Hold the body of the machine on the ground using y our left hand (CA UTION! Not with your f oot!).
22 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES General w orking instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot aff ect your control of the machine .
English – 23 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES W orking methods • Bef ore you start clear ing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollo ws etc. • Star t at whichev er end of the area is easiest, and clear an open space from which to work.
24 – English W ORKING TECHNIQ UES • T o fell a tree f orwards , the bottom of the tree should be pulled backw ards. Pull the blade backw ards with a quick, firm movement. • Large stems must be cut from two sides . First deter mine which direction the stem will f all.
English – 25 W ORKING TECHNIQ UES Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the g round at an angle. It is the end of the cord that does the work. Let the cord work at its own pace. Nev er press the cord into the area to be cut.
26 – English MAINTENANCE Carb urettor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce harmful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
English – 27 MAINTENANCE will run smoothly in ev ery position. The idle speed should also be well below the speed at which the cutting attachment starts to rotate. High speed jet H The high speed jet H aff ects the engine power , speed, temperature and fuel consumption.
28 – English MAINTENANCE Cooling system T o keep the working temperature as low as possib le the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Air intake on the starter . 2 Fins on the flywheel. 3 Cooling fins on the cylinder .
English – 29 MAINTENANCE Spark plug The spark plug condition is influenced by: • Incorrect carburettor adjustment. • An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil). • A dir ty air filter . These f actors cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes, which ma y result in operating problems and starting difficulties.
30 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance sc hedule The f ollowing is a list of the maintenance that must be perf or med on the machine. Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carry out the maintenance and ser vice work descr ibed in this Operator’ s Manual.
