GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English Stop switch Use the stop switch to s witch off the engine. Star t the engine and make sure the engine stops when y ou mov e the stop switch to the stop setting. Cutting attachment guar d This guard is intended to prev ent loose objects from being thrown tow ards the operator .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 Muffler The m uffler is designed to keep noise le vels to a minimum and to direct exhaust fumes a way from the user . A muffler fitted with a catalytic conv er ter is also designed to reduce harmful exhaust gases.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English Cutting equipment This section describes how to choose and maintain your cutting equipment in order to: • Reduce the risk of blade thrust. • Obtain maximum cutting perf or mance. • Extend the life of cutting equipment.
ASSEMBL Y English – 11 Fitting the loop handle • Clip the loop handle onto the shaft. Note that the loop handle must be fitted between the arrows on the shaft. • Slide the spacer into the slot in the loop handle. • Fit the nut, knob and screw .
FUEL HANDLING 12 – English Fuel safety Ne v er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate. 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes. W ash any par t of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING English – 13 Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shak e) the fuel mixture.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 14 – English Chec k bef ore star ting • Check that the support flange is not cracked due to fatigue or due to being tightened too m uch. Discard the suppor t flange if it is crack ed. • Ensure the locking nut has not lost its captiv e force.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 15 Repeat pulling the cord until the engine star ts. When the engine star ts. return choke control to run position and apply full throttle; the throttle will automatically disengage from the star t setting.

WORKING TECHNIQUES English – 17 Basic working tec hniques Alw a ys slow the engine to idle speed after each working operation. Long per iods at full throttle without any load on the engine can lead to serious engine damage. Grass trimming with a trimmer head T rimming • Hold the trimmer head just above the ground at an angle .
MAINTENANCE 18 – English Carburetor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE English – 19 Fine adjustment of the idle speed T Adjust the idle speed using the idle adjustment scre w T , if it is necessary to readjust. First turn the idle adjustment screw T clockwise until the cutting attachment starts to rotate. Then turn the screw anticlockwise until the cutting attachment stops.
MAINTENANCE 20 – English frequently bloc ked, this can be a sign that the performance of the catalytic conv er ter is impaired. Contact your dealer to inspect the muffler . A block ed screen will cause the machine to ov erheat and result in damage to the cylinder and piston.
MAINTENANCE English – 21 Cleaning the air filter Remo v e the air filter cover and take out the filter . W ash it clean in warm, soapy water . Ensure that the filter is dr y before refitting it. An air filter that has been in use for a long time cannot be cleaned completely .
22 – English MAINTENANCE Maintenance schedule The f ollo wing is a list of the maintenance that must be performed on the machine. Most of the items are described in the Maintenance section. The user must only carr y out the maintenance and service wor k described in this manual.
