GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English Impor tant P ersonal protective equipment HELMET A helmet should be w orn if the trees being cleared are taller than 2 m. HEARING PRO TECTION Wear hearing protection that provides adequate noise reduction. EYE PRO TECTION Alwa ys wear approved e ye protection.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 BOO TS Wear boots with steel toe-caps and non-slip sole . CLO THING Wear clothes made of a strong f abric and avoid loose clothing that can catch on twigs and branches. Alwa ys wear heavy , long pants. Do not wear jewellery , shorts sandals or go barefoot.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English be check ed. See instructions under the heading Maintenance. Stop switc h Use the stop switch to s witch off the engine. Star t the engine and mak e sure the engine stops when you mov e the stop switch to the stop setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 sa w . Certain harnesses also have a quick release fitted to the suppor t hook. Check that the harness straps are correctly positioned. Once the harness and machine have been adjusted, check that the harness quick release works correctly .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English should operate the sock et spanner when loosening or tightening the nut. The nylon lining inside the locking n ut must not be so worn that you can turn it by hand. The lining should off er a resistance of at least 1.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 K eep the correct setting on the saw blade! F ollow our instructions and use the recommended setting tool. An incorrectly set saw b lade increases the r isk of jamming and blade thrust, and damage to the saw b lade.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English T rimmer head • Only use the recommended trimmer heads and trimmer cords. These have been tested b y the manuf acturer to suit a par ticular engine size. This is especially impor tant when a fully automatic trimmer head is used.
ASSEMBL Y English – 15 Assembling the handlebar and throttle CA UTION! Some models have the throttle handle fitted at the factory . • Remov e the screw at the rear of the throttle handle. • Slide the throttle handle onto the right side of the handlebar , (see diagram).
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the blade guar d/ combination guard, grass blade and ball-bearing-mounted support cup • Hang the trimmer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M). Bend the guard around the shaft and tighten it with the bolt (L) on the opposite side of the shaft.

ASSEMBL Y 18 – English Fitting the trimmer guard and trimmer head T rimm y SII • Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use with the trimmer head. Hang the tr immer guard/combination guard (A) on the two hooks on the plate holder (M). Bend the guard around the shaft and tighten it with the bolt (L) on the opposite side of the shaft.
ASSEMBL Y English – 19 Adjusting the harness and clearing sa w Standard harness Safety release At the front is an easily accessible, quic k release. Use this if the engine catches fire or in any other emergency situation that requires you to free y ourself from the machine and harness.
ASSEMBL Y 20 – English 2 Tighten the chest strap under your left arm so that it fits closely around your body . 3 Adjust the shoulder strap to distribute the load e venly across your shoulders. Press downwards on the suspension hook to load the harness.
FUEL HANDLING English – 21 Fuel safety Nev er star t the machine: 1 If you ha ve spilled fuel on it. Wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to e vaporate. 2 If you ha ve spilled fuel on yourself or y our clothes, change your clothes. W ash any part of your body that has come in contact with fuel.
FUEL HANDLING 22 – English Mixing • Alwa ys mix the gasoline and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the gasoline to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING English – 23 Check bef ore star ting • Check the b lade to ensure that no cracks hav e formed at the bottom of the teeth or by the centre hole.
ST AR TING AND ST OPPING 24 – English engine to idle, press the throttle lock out and throttle trigger again. Decompression valve If the machine is fitted with a decompression valv e (A): Press the valv e to reduce the pressure in the cylinder and make starting easier.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 General working instructions Basic safety rules 1 Look around you: • T o ensure that people, animals or other things cannot affect y our control of the machine.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English • Control the felling direction (tak e advantage of the wind). W orking methods • Before y ou star t clear ing, check the clearing area, the type of terrain, the slope of the ground, whether there are stones, hollows etc.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 conditions, so that cleared stems f all in the cleared area of the stand. Forestry clearing using a sa w blade • The risk of blade thrust increases with increasing stem size. Y ou should therefore a void cutting with the area of the blade between 12 o’cloc k and 3 o’clock.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English Brush cutting with a sa w blade • Thin stems and brush are mown down. Work with a sawing mov ement, swinging side ways. • T r y to cut sever al stems in a single sawing mov ement. • With groups of hardwood stems, first clear around the group .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 29 Cutting • The trimmer is ideal for cutting grass that is difficult to reach using a normal lawn mower . Keep the cord parallel to the ground when cutting. Avoid pressing the trimmer head against the ground as this can ruin the lawn and damage the tool.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English Carburetor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE English – 31 Low speed jet L T r y to find the highest idling speed, tur ning the low speed needle L clockwise respectiv ely counter-clockwise. When the highest speed has been found, turn the low speed needle L 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English smoothly . (Burbling has stopped completely). Now screw the H-needle (anti-clockwise) a f ew tenths of a turn. CA UTION! For optimum adjustment of the carb urettor, contact a qualified dealer/service workshop that has a rev olution counter at their disposal.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 The cooling system consists of: 1 Air intake on the starter. 2 Fins on the flywheel. 3 Cooling fins on the cylinder . 4 Cylinder cov er (directs cold air over the cylinder). Clean the cooling system with a brush once a week, more often in demanding conditions.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English Drive shaft The drive shaft must be greased e very three months during full-time use. Contact your dealer if you are uncer tain about the procedure. Spark plug The spark plug condition is influenced by: • Incorrect carburetor adjustment.
