GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English Al ways use common sense It is not possib le to cov er ev er y conceiv able situation y ou can face when using a chain sa w. Always e xercise care and use your common sense. Av oid all situations which you consider to be be yond y our capability .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 • The chain brake (A) can either be activ ated manually (by y our left hand) or automatically by the inertia release mechanism. • The brake is applied when the front hand guard (B) is pushed forw ards or when the right-hand brake trigger (E) is pushed up and forw ards.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English of the front hand guard, the chain brak e can only be activated b y the inertia action. Will m y hand always activate the c hain brake during a kickbac k? No . It takes a cer tain f orce to move the hand guard forw ard.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 Stop switc h Use the stop s witch to switch off the engine . Muffler The muffler is designed to keep noise le vels to a minimum and to direct exhaust fumes a way from the user . In areas with a hot, dry climate there is a high r isk of fires .

GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 Sharpening y our chain and adjusting depth gauge setting General information on sharpening cutting teeth • Nev er use a blunt chain. When the chain is blunt y ou hav e to ex er t more pressure to f orce the bar through the wood and the chips will be very small.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English Adjustment of depth gauge setting • The cutting teeth should be newly sharpened before adjusting the depth gauge setting. W e recommend that you adjust the depth gauge setting e ver y third time you sharpen the cutting teeth.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Ne ver use waste oil! Using w aste oil can be dangerous to you and damage the machine and en vironment. Filling with chain oil • All our chain saws ha ve an automatic chain lubrication system. On some models the oil flow is also adjustable.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 16 – English Checking wear on cutting equipment Check the chain daily f or : • Visible crac ks in r iv ets and links. • Whether the chain is stiff. • Whether rivets and links are badly worn. Replace the saw chain if it e xhibits any of the points abov e.
ASSEMBL Y English – 17 Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain brak e is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard tow ards the front handle. Remov e the bar nuts and remov e the clutch cover (chain brake). T ake off the transpor tation ring (A).
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must alwa ys be r un using a mixture of petrol and tw o- stroke oil. It is impor tant to accur ately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING English – 19 Fueling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter m ust be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is well mix ed by shaking the container before refuelling.
ST ARTING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Starting and stopping Starting The chain brak e must be engaged when the chain saw is star ted. Activate the brake b y moving the front hand guard forw ards. Cold engine Start position (1): Set the star t/stop s witch in the choke position by pulling the red control outward - upw ard.
ST ARTING AND ST OPPING English – 21 Note! Reactivate the chain br ake b y pushing the front hand guard back tow ards the front handle. The chain saw is now ready f or use. • Nev er star t a chain saw unless the bar , chain and all cov ers are fitted correctly .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain brak e wor ks correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch wor ks correctly and is not damaged.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 right-handed or left-handed. This grip minimises the effect of kic kback and lets you keep the chain sa w under control.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English chain use only combinations that are recommended by us. See instr uctions under the headings Cutting equipment and T echnical data.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 inadv ertently getting a kickback, as w ell as increasing the risk of losing your balance while working. The log is lying on the gr ound . There is little risk of the chain jamming or the object splitting. Howev er there is a risk that the chain will touch the ground when you finish the cut.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English there is high accident risk. See instr uctions under the heading F reeing a tree that has fallen badly . Clearing the trunk and preparing y our retreat Delimb the stem up to shoulder height. It is safer to w ork from the top down and to hav e the tree between you and the saw .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 Finish the f elling cut parallel with the directional cut line so that the distance between them is at least 1/10 of the trunk diameter. The uncut section of the trunk is called the felling hinge . The felling hinge controls the direction that the tree f alls in.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 28 – English Continue to cut deeper until tree/limb bends and tension is released. Cut tree/limb from outside the bend, after tension has been released.
MAINTENANCE English – 29 General The user must only carry out the maintenance and service work descr ibed in this Operator’ s Manual. More extensiv e work must be carr ied out b y an author iz ed service workshop. Carburettor adjustment Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce harmful emissions.
MAINTENANCE 30 – English Checking the inertia brake release Place the chain saw , with the engine switched off, on a stump or other stable surf ace. Release the front handle and let the saw f all by its own weight, rotating around the rear handle towards the stump .
MAINTENANCE English – 31 • Check that the throttle trigger and throttle lock out mov e freely and that the return spr ings w ork properly . • Star t the chain sa w and apply full throttle. Release the throttle control and check that the chain stops and remains stationary .
MAINTENANCE 32 – English use a muffler if the spark arrestor mesh is missing or defective. The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the exhaust gases a way from the operator . The exhaust gases are hot and can contain sparks, which ma y cause fire if directed against dry and combustible material.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 Changing a br oken recoil spring • Lift up the star ter pulle y . See instructions under the heading Changing a broken or worn starter cord. Remember that the recoil spring is coiled under tension in the star ter housing. • Remov e the cassette with the recoil spring from the star ter .
MAINTENANCE 34 – English Lubricating the bar tip sproc ket Lubricate the bar tip sprocket each time y ou refuel. Use the special grease gun and a good quality bearing grease. Needle bearing lubrication The clutch drum has a needle bearing on the output shaft.
MAINTENANCE English – 35 ”Air Injection” centrifugal cleaning Centrifugal cleaning means the following: All air to the carburettor passes through the starter. Dir t and dust is centrifuged out by the cooling fan. IMPORT ANT! In order to maintain operation of the centrifugal cleaning system it must be regularly maintained.
