5 T O ASSEMBLE GRASS CA TCHER (See Figs. 3 and 4) 1. Slide grass catcher bag o ver the fr ame. Make sure the rear handle is on top (the same side as the front handle) and the strap is on the bottom. 2. Slip vin yl bindings ov er frame. NO TE : If vinyl bindings are too stiff, hold them in w ar m water f or a fe w minutes.

7 3. Oper ate mower to see if drive speed has increased. If there is no increase, the drive belt is w or n and needs to be re placed. T O ADJUST CUTTING HEIGHT (See Fig. 6) Both rear wheels are adjusted by a single le ver on the left rear wheel. • Pull adjuster le v er toward wheel.
8 OPERA TION T O CONVERT MO WER (See Figs. 7 thru 9) Y our lawn mow er was shipped ready to be used as a mulcher . T o con vert to rear bagging or side discharging: REAR BA GGING • Remove knob securing mulcher door to mo wer housing.

10 OPERA TION T O STOP ENGINE • T o stop engine, release oper ator presence control bar . W ait until blade and all mo ving par ts hav e stopped and tur n fuel v alve to OFF position if y ou do not intend to re star t the engine soon. T O ST ART ENGINE (See Fig.
11 OPERA TION • Cer tain types of grass and grass conditions ma y require that an area be mulched a second time to completely hide the clippings. When doing a second cut, mow across (per pendicular) to the fi rst cut path. • Change your cutting patter n from week to week.

13 LA WN MO WER Alwa ys obser v e safety rules when perf or ming any main- te nance. TIRES • K eep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insect control chem- i cals which can har m rubber . • A void stumps , stones, deep ruts, sharp objects and other hazards that ma y cause tire damage.
14 AIR FIL TER Y our engine will not r un properly and may be damaged by using a dirty air fi lter . Replace the air fi lter ev er y 100 hours of operation or e very season, whichev er occurs fi rst. Ser vice air cleaner more often under dusty conditions.
15 T O REMO VE DRIVE BEL T (See Figs. 18 thru 21) 1. Disconnect spark plug wire from spar k plug and place wire where it cannot come in contact with plug. 2. Remo ve scre ws retaining drive cov er and remove driv e cov er from lawn mo wer housing (See Fig.
16 ST ORA GE Immediately prepare your la wn mower f or storage at the end of the season or if the unit will not be used for 30 da ys or more. 3. Be sure that all nuts, bolts , screws, and pins are se- curely f astened. Inspect moving par ts for damage, breakage and wear .
17 ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM IMPORT ANT : IT IS IMPORT ANT T O PREVENT GUM DEPOSITS FROM FORMING IN ESSENTIAL FUEL SYSTEM P AR TS SUCH AS CARBURET OR, FUEL FIL TER, FUEL HOSE, OR T ANK DURING ST ORAGE.
