GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English See instr uctions under the heading Star t. Star t the machine and apply full throttle. Release the throttle and check that the cutting attachment stops and remains at a standstill. If the cutting attachment rotates with the throttle in the idle position then the carburettor idle setting must be check ed.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 Quic k release There is an easily accessib le, quick release fitted at the front as a safety precaution in case the engine catches fire, or in any other situation that requires y ou to free yourself from the machine and harness.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English Locking n ut A locking nut is used to secure some types of cutting attachment. When fitting, tighten the nut in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the cutting attachment. T o remo ve it, undo the nut in the same direction as the cutting attachment rotates.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 General rules Only use cutting attachments with the guards we recommend! See the chapter on T echnical data. K eep the teeth of the blade correctly shar pened! Follo w our instructions and use the recommended file gauge.
ASSEMBL Y 12 – English Fitting the loop handle (524 L, 525 LST , 525 RJD) • Clip the loop handle onto the shaft. Note that the loop handle must be fitted between the arrows on the shaft. • Slide the spacer into the slot in the loop handle. Fit the nut, knob and screw .
ASSEMBL Y English – 13 Assembling the cutting equipment Fitting the trimmer guard and trimmer head • Fit the correct trimmer guard (A) for use with the trimmer head. Hook the tr immer guard/combination guard onto the fitting on the shaft and secure with the bolt (L).
ASSEMBL Y 14 – English Dismantling • Loosen the coupling by turning the knob (at least 3 times). Push and hold the button (C). While securely holding the engine end, pull the attachment straight out of the coupling.

FUEL HANDLING English – 17 Mixing • Alwa ys mix the petrol and oil in a clean container intended for fuel. • Alwa ys star t by filling half the amount of the petrol to be used. Then add the entire amount of oil. Mix (shake) the fuel mixture. Add the remaining amount of petrol.

The most common reason why cr acks are formed is that sharp corners have been f or med at the bottom of the teeth while sharpening or that the blade has been used with dull teeth.

W ORKING TECHNIQ UES English – 21 Basic working tec hniques Alwa ys slow the engine to idle speed after each working operation. Long periods at full throttle without any load on the engine can lead to serious engine damage. Grass clearing using a grass b lade • Grass blades and g rass knifes must not be used on woody stems.
WORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English Cutting • The trimmer is ideal for cutting grass that is difficult to reach using a normal lawn mower . Keep the cord parallel to the ground when cutting. A void pressing the trimmer head against the ground as this can ruin the lawn and damage the tool.
MAINTENANCE English – 23 Carburettor Y our Husqvarna product has been designed and manuf actured to specifications that reduce har mful emissions. After the engine has used 8-10 tanks of fuel the engine will be run-in.
MAINTENANCE 24 – English Adjusting the start throttle speed The correct star t throttle speed is set by means of an adjuster on the rear of the handle next to the cab le. Use this screw (4 mm Allen scre w) to increase or decrease the star t throttle speed.
MAINTENANCE English – 25 Cooling system T o keep the working temperature as low as possib le the machine is equipped with a cooling system. The cooling system consists of: 1 Air intake on the starter. 2 Fins on the flywheel. 3 Cooling fins on the cylinder .
MAINTENANCE 26 – English Cleaning the air filter Close the choke v alve by mo ving the choke control up. Remov e the air filter cover and take out the filter . Wash it clean in warm, soapy water . Clean also the inside of the filter cov er by using air or a brush.
