6 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Steps before using a ne w power cutter • Please read the operator’ s manual carefully and make sure you understand the instructions bef ore using the machine. • Check the assemb ly and adjustment of the cutting blade .
English – 7 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS General safety precautions W ork area safety • K eep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents . • Ne ver use the machine indoors . Be aware of the dangers of inhaling the engine’ s exhaust fumes.
8 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS • Special care should be taken with abr asive discs . Abrasiv e discs must be stored on a flat, le vel surf ace. If an abrasiv e disc is stored in humid conditions, this can cause imbalance and result in injur y .
English – 9 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Muffler The muffler is designed to k eep noise lev els to a minimum and to direct e xhaust fumes awa y from the user . Check the m uffler • Ne ver use a machine that has a f aulty muffler . • Regularly check that the muffler is securely attached to the machine.

Cutting blades General Cutting blades are a vailab le in two basic designs; abrasive discs and diamond blades .
English – 11 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Abrasive discs for diff erent materials Diamond blades Diamond blades consist of a steel body pro vided with segments that contain industrial diamonds. Diamond blades ensure lo wer costs per cutting operation, f ewer b lade changes and a constant cutting depth.
12 – English SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS General working instructions Cutting technique The technique described below is of a general character . Check inf or mation for each b lade regarding individual cutting characteristics (for e xample, diamond blades requires less f eeding pressure than an abrasive discs).
English – 13 SAFETY INSTR UCTIONS Kickbac k The word kic kback is used to describe the sudden reaction that causes the power cutter and cutting b lade to be thrown from an object when the upper quadrant of the b lade, known as the kickbac k zone , touches an object.
14 – English ASSEMBL Y Checking the drive axle and flange washers Check that the threads on the driv e shaft are undamaged. Check that the contact surf aces of the cutting blade and flanges are flat, run correctly on the spindle and are free from f oreign objects.
English – 15 FUEL HANDLING Fuel CA UTION! The machine is equipped with a tw o-stroke engine and must alwa ys been r un using a mixture of gasoline and two-strok e engine oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
16 – English ST ARTING AND ST OPPING Bef ore star ting Decompression v alve: Press the valv e to reduce the compression in the cylinder . The decompression v alve should alwa ys be used when star ting. The valv e automatically returns to its initial position when the machine star ts.
English – 17 MAINTENANCE T ensioning the drive belt • When the machine is equipped with a friction retarder , a scraping sound can be heard from the bearing housing when the blade is turned by hand. This is quite nor mal. Please contact an accredited Husqvarna workshop if you hav e any questions .
18 – English MAINTENANCE Fuel filter • The fuel filter sits inside the fuel tank. • The fuel tank must be protected from contamination when filling. This reduces the risk of operating disturbances caused by b lockage of the fuel filter located inside the tank.
English – 19 MAINTENANCE • Pull out the cord appro x. 30 cm (12 inches) and hook it into the notch in the rim of the pulley . Release the recoil spring by letting the pulley rotate slo wly backw ards. • Remov e any remnants of the old starter cord and check that the return spr ing works.
20 – English MAINTENANCE Spark plug The spark plug condition is influenced by: • Incorrect carburetor adjustment. • Wrong fuel mixture (too much oil). • A dir ty air filter . These f actors cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes, which ma y result in operating problems and starting difficulties.
