2 I. GENERAL OPERA TION • Read, understand, and f ollow all instructions on the machine and in the manual bef ore star ting. • Do not put hands or f eet near rotating par ts or under the machine.

6 ASSEMBL Y CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were ov er infl ated at the factory f or shipping pur poses. Correct tire pressure is impor tant f or best cutting performance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI sho wn on tires. CHECK DECK LEVELNESS F or best cutting results, mower housing should be properly le veled.

9 OPERA TION FIG. 4 T O USE CHOKE CONTROL - N (See Fig. 6) Use choke control whene v er you are star ting a cold engine. Do not use to star t a warm engine.
10 OPERA TION T O ADJUST MO WER CUT TING HEIGHT (See Fig. 8) The po si tion of the at tach ment lift le v er (A) de ter mines the cut ting height. • Put attachment lift le ver in desired cutting height slot. The cutting height range is ap pro x i mate ly 1" to 4".

12 CA UTION: Alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol or using ethanol or methanol) can attract moisture which leads to sep a ra tion and for ma tion of acids during storage. Acidic gas can dama g e the fuel system of an engine while in storage. T o av oid engine problems, the fuel system should be emptied before stor age of 30 days or longer .

16 MAINTENANCE V- B E LT S Check V -belts f or deter ior ation and wear after 100 hours of operation and replace if necessary . The belts are not ad just able . Re place belts if they begin to slip from w ear . TRANSAXLE COOLING The transmission f an and cooling fi ns should be kept clean to assure proper cooling.

19 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS T O LEVEL MO WER Make sure tires are properly infl ated to the PSI shown on tires. If tires are ov er or under infl ated, it may aff ect the appearance of y our lawn and lead you to think the mo wer is not adjusted properly .

23 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS T O REPLA CE HEADLIGHT BULB • Raise hood. • Pull bulb holder out of the hole in the bac kside of the grill. • Replace bulb in holder and push b ulb holder securely back into the hole in the bac kside of the grill. • Close hood.
24 ST ORA GE Immediately prepare your tr actor for storage at the end of the season or if the tractor will not be used f or 30 days or more. W ARNING: Never store the trac tor with gas o line in the tank inside a building where fumes may reac h an open fl ame or spark.
