NOTE: In this case, you do not need to use a Y connector . Simply connect the LFE output on your recei ver/pr ocessor to either the left or right input on the subwoof er .
CSW -10 Pow er On Plug your subwoofer’ s AC co r d into a wall outlet. Do not use the outlets on the back of the recei v er . Initially set the Subwoofer Le vel (V olume) Control £ to the “min” position. Tu rn on your sub by pressing the P ower Switch ¶ on the r ear panel.
CSW -10 Infinity’ s R.A.B.O.S . is a simple-to-use, yet sophisticated, low-frequency calibr ation system. It is designed to work in conjunction with the CSW -10 self-amplified subwoofer . The CSW -10 subwoofer contains a parametric equaliz er that you will adjust as indicated by the R.
CSW -10 P ower is switched on or off by pr essing the button directly below the bar -graph window . W hen the unit is on, one or more LEDs will always be illuminated. The function of the LEDs is descr ibed in the following section. • Power -On/Low Signal: This is indicated by the illumination of any LED on the bar graph.
CSW -10 Init ial Syst em-Level Se tting T he following steps will set the pla yback lev el of the system to the corr ect level f or all tests that follow . Tu rn the system volume to minimum. Cue the R.A.B.O .S. T est CD to T rack 2 and pr ess P ause II .
CSW -10 Each of the following tr acks produces a low-fr equency test tone. T he range of these tests is fr om 100Hz down to 20Hz. The frequency of each test is announced bef ore it begins . The first test is the highest frequency (100Hz); ther efor e, you will be marking the template fr om right to left.
CSW -10 At this point, you may simply enter the data you just measured into the R.A.B.O .S. calculator , found on the Infinity Web site at www .infinitysystems.com. After entering the data, this R.A.B.O .S. wizar d will retur n the corr ect settings for all thr ee R.
CSW -10 Using the Width Select or Read the following instr uctions carefully . The example presented ma y not look like the graph you just cr eated.
CSW -10 T he pointer on the slider will indicate the cor rect width setting. Enter this number in the Width field of the Measurement T emplate. In our example , the width is 12.5%. It is not realistic to expect a perf ect fit. Acoustic measurements encompass the beha vior of not only the speakers but of the room and its contents as well.
CSW -10 Example 2. T wo Response P eaks: Character ized by two r esponse peaks, approximately equal in amplitude and width. This r equires that you make a choice between the two peaks. In situations like this, the higher frequency peak will alwa ys be mor e audible and objectionable.
CSW -10 1. Select a new test position: Cue the test track corr esponding to the center frequency of the dip . In the fir st example in Figur e 18, you would play T rack 13 (56Hz). Press Pla y › .Y ou will see a r eading v er y close to what you had befor e.
CSW -10 1. Select a new test position: Cue the test track corr esponding to the center frequency of the dip . In the example in Figur e 19 you would play T racks 14 (52Hz) and 18 (40Hz). Press Pla y › .Y o u will see a reading v er y close to what you had befor e.
CSW -10 If using more than one subwoof er , always adjust both subwoofers together . Adjust the controls as indicated by the Measurement T emplate. Each value shown in the table is repr esented by detents in the R.A.B.O .S. controls. Simply count the number of detents necessary , indicated by the results of your R.
