5 Cascade Model T welv e I nfinity’ s R.A.B.O.S . is a simple-to-use, yet sophisticated, low-frequency calibr ation system. It is designed to work in c onjunction with the Cascade Model T welve self-amplif ied subwoofer . The subwoofer contains a par ametric equaliz er that you will adjust as indicated by the R.
6 Cascade Model T w elv e P ower is switched on or off by pr essing the button directly below the bar -graph window . W hen the unit is on, one or more LEDs will always be illuminated. The function of the LEDs is described in the following section. • Power -On/Low Signal: This is indicated by the illumination of any LED on the bar graph.
7 Cascade Model T welv e Init ial System-Lev el Sett ing The following steps will set the pla yback level of the system to the corr ect level f or all tests that follow . T urn the system v olume to minimum. Cue the R.A.B.O .S. T est CD to T rack 2 and press P ause II .
8 Cascade Model T welv e Each of the following tr acks produces a low-fr equency test tone. The range of these tests is fr om 100Hz down to 20Hz. The frequency of each test is announced bef ore it begins. The fir st test is the highest frequency (100Hz); theref ore , you will be marking the template fr om right to left.
9 Cascade Model T welv e A t this point, you may simply enter the data you just measured into the R.A.B.O .S. calculator , found on the I nfinity Web site at www .infinitysystems .com. After entering the data, this R.A.B.O.S . wizard will r eturn the corr ect settings for all thr ee R.
10 Cascade Model T w elv e Using the Width Select or Read the following instr uctions carefully . The example presented ma y not look like the graph you just created. Focus on the concepts and techniques pr esented. Specific cases will be discussed later .
11 Cascade Model T welv e T he pointer on the slider will indicate the cor rect width setting. Enter this number in the Width field of the Measur ement T emplate .
12 Cascade Model T w elv e Example 2. T wo Response Peaks: Character ized by two r esponse peaks, approximately equal in amplitude and width. This requir es that you make a choice between the two peaks. In situations like this, the higher frequency peak will alwa ys be more audible and objectionable .
