5 2 Command line interface (CLI) Y our switch module contains an embedded T elnet server . This server enables a T elnet client to establish a T elnet session with the switch mo dule to retriev e information or to configure parameters using the CLI.

Consider the following rules and con ventions: • Commands and ke ywords are lo w ercase and case sensitiv e.

9 Alias command Creates a named set of ports. Aliases make it easier to as sign a set of ports to many zones. An alias cannot ha ve a zone or another alias as a member .

11 Config command Manages the Fibre Channel configurations on a switch. For information about setting the port and switch configurations, see the “Set Conf ig command” on page 29.

13 Date command Displays or sets the blade server date and time. T o set the date and time, you must provide the information string in this format: MMDDhhmmCCYY , where MM = month, DD = day , hh = hour , mm = minute, CC = century , and YY = year . Y ou must reset the switch for the new date to take ef fect.

15 Help command Displays a brief description of th e speci fied command and its keywords. A uthority User Syntax help [command] [keywor d] Ke ywor ds [command] A command name. I f you omit this v alue, all a v ailab le commands from w hich to choose are displayed.

35 Set Log command Specifies the type of entries to be entered in the e ven t log. The log is a storage file contained on the switch. The log can hold a maximum of 200 entr ies. When the log becomes full, th e entries are replaced, starting with the oldest entry , to produce a list of the last 200 e v ents which occurred.

77 F abric tree The fabric tree, in the FC Fabric pane, lists the managed fabrics and their switch modules. T o adjust the window , click and drag the mov eable windo w border . An entry handle to the left of an entry in the tree indicates that you can ex pand the entry .

81 T opology data windo w tabs The T opology Data window contains four tabs at the bottom of the window . When you click a tab, the following information is displayed: • Name Server - Click the Name Ser ver tab to display all de vices th at are logged with the name server and their locat ion within th e current fabric configuration.

83 Opening pop-up menus Y ou can manage the switch modu le and its ports using the following methods: • T o open the pop-up menu, right-click anywhere in th e graphic window . If no ports are selected, port specific tasks are una v ailable in the menu.

85 Opening a fabric view file Complete the following steps to open an existing fabric vie w f ile: 1. In the F aceplate windo w , click File / Open V iew File , or click the Open icon. If there is a change to the fabric you are using, you are prompted to sav e the changes to the vie w f ile before opening a different view f ile.

91 Default visi bi lity The Default V isibility parameter determines th e level of communication that is permitted between devices when there is no acti v e zone set.
92 Intel Blade Server Switch Module SBCE FCSW Management and User’s Guide A zone merge will fail if the two acti v e zone sets ha ve member zones with identical names that differ in content or type. For e x ample, consider Fabric A and F abric B, each with a zone in its acti ve zone set named “ZS1.
93 Using the toolb ar , pop-up menus, or a drag-and-drop me th od, you can create and m a nage zone set s and zones in the zoning database. Click Ap pl y to sav e your changes to the zoning database without closing the win dow . Click OK to sav e your changes to the zoning database and close the window .
