Introduction Congratulations on p urchasing this Broadband Router. This Broa dband Router is a cost-effecti ve IP Sharing Router that enables multiple users to share the Internet through an ADSL or cabl e modem.
Get to know the Broadband Router Back Panel The diagram (fig1.0) below sho ws the broadband rout er’s back pan el. The router’s back panel is divided into three sections, LAN , WAN and Reset : Figure 1.
Front Panel On the router’s front panel there are LE D lights t hat inform you of the router’s current status. Below is an explanation of each LED and its description.
Setup Diagram Figure 1.2 below shows a typical setup for a Local Area Network (LAN). Figure 1.2 7.
Getting started This is a step-by-step instruction on ho w to start using the router and get connected to the Internet. 1) Setup your network as shown in the setup diagram a bove (fig 1.2). 2) You then need to set your LAN PC clien ts so t hat it can obtain an IP address automatically.

Quick Setup Wizard (Chapter 1) If you only want to start using the broadband router as an Internet Access device then you ONLY need to configure the screens in t he Quick Setup Wi zard section.
M e n u D e s c r i p t i o n Quick Setup Wiz ard (Chapter 1) Select your Internet connection type and then input the configurations needed to conn ect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Chapter 1 Quick Setup The Quick Setup section i s designed to get you usi ng the broadband router a s quickly as possible. In the Quick Setup you are required to fill in only the information necessary to access the Internet. Once you click on the Quick Setup Wizard in the HOME page, you should see the screen below.

Click on NEXT to proceed to the next page (step 3) DNS. 1.2 Fixed-IP xDSL Select Fixed-IP xDSL if your ISP has given you a specific IP address for you to use. Your ISP should provide all the information required in this section. Parameters Description I P This is the IP address that your ISP has given you.
Parameter Description User Name Enter the User Name provided by your ISP for the PPPoE connectio n Password Enter the Password provided by your ISP for the PPPoE connectio n Service Name This is optional. Enter the Service name should your ISP requires it, otherwise leave it blank.

Chapter 2 General Settings Once you click on the General Setup button at the Home Page, y ou should see the screen below. If you have already configured the Quick Setup Wizard you do NOT need to configure anything thing in the General Setup screen for you to start usi ng the Internet.
2.3 LAN You can specify the LAN segment’s IP addres s, subnet Mask, enable/disable DHCP and select an IP range for your LAN 2.4 NAT You can configure the Port Forw arding, Virtual Server, DMZ and Special Applications func tions in this section. This allows you to specify what user/packet can pass your route r’s NAT.
2.1 System The system screen allows you to specify a time zone, to chan ge the system password and to specify a remote management use r for the broadband router. Parameters Description System Settings 2.1.1 Host Name Allows you to setup the Host Name and Domai n Name of this router.
2.1.1 Host Name This page allows you to assign Host Na me and Domain Name to the router. You can do web configuration from the LAN by typing the whole name you configure d here except for the IP address. Parameter Description Host Name Enter the Host Name of this router.
2.1.2 System Time The System Time allows your router to refere nce or base its time on the Time Z one settings configured here, which will affect function s such as Log entries and Firewall settings. Parameter Description Set Time Zone Select the time zone of the country you are currently in.
2.1.3 Administrator Settings You can change the password requi red to log in to the broadband router' s system web-based management. By default, there is no password. So please assign a password to the Administrator as soon as possible, and store it in a safe pl ace.
Idle Time Out Enter the Max Idle Time (in minutes) allowed after login to the web configuration. If you idle long then this time, the router will force to close the login session a nd you have to login again if you want to continue doing further configuration.
2.2 WAN Use the WAN Settings screen if you have already configured the Q uick Setup Wizard section and you would like to change your Internet connecti on type. The WAN Settings scre en allows you to specify the type of WAN port connect you want to establish with your ISP.
2.2.1 Dynamic IP Choose the Dynamic IP selection if your ISP will automatically give you an IP address. Some ISP’s may also require that you fill in additional information su ch as Host Name, Domain Nam e and MAC address. The BigPond login is optional, commonly use d in Australia.

2.3 LAN The LAN setting allows you to assign a p rivate IP address for this router. You can also enable DHCP server to manage y our IP automatically. 34.
2.3.1 LAN Settings The LAN Settings allow you to specify a private IP address fo r your router’s LAN ports as well as a subnet mask for your LAN segment. You also can enable the DHCP server to let the router manage private IP addresses for you automatically.
Lease Time The DHCP when enabled will temporaril y give your LAN clients an IP address. In the Lease Time setting you can specify the time period that the DHCP lends an IP address to your LAN clients.
2.3.2 DHCP Mapping The DHCP Mapping allows you to manually assign the client MAC address and IP addre ss mapping and let the clients in the list get the same IP address every time. Parameters Description Client MAC Address The MAC Address of the client.
2.4 NAT Network Address Translation (NA T) allows multiple users at your local site to access the Internet through a single Public IP Address or multiple Public IP Addresse s.
2.4.4 DMZ The DMZ function allows you to re-direct all packets going to your WAN port IP address to a particular IP address in your LAN. Click on one of the three NAT selections and proceed to the manual's relevant sub- section.
2.4.1 Special Application Some applications requi re multiple connections, su ch as Internet games, video conferencing, Internet telephony and others. In this section y ou can configu re the router to support multiple connections for these types of applications.
Example: Special Applications If you need to run applications that require multip le connection s, then specify the port (outbound) normally associated with that application in the "T rigger Port" field.
2.4.2 Virtual Server Use the Virtual Server function when you want di fferent servers/ clients in your LAN to handle different service/Internet application type (e.g. Email, FTP, Web serv er etc.) from the Internet. Computers use numbers called port numbers to reco gnize a parti cular service/Internet application type.
Enabled You have to check this box to enable this rule. Click < Apply> at the bottom of the screen to save the above confi gurations. You can now configure other advance section s or start using.
2.4.3 Port Forwarding The Port Forwarding allows you to re-direct a pa rticular range of service port nu mbers (from the Internet/WAN Ports) to a particular LA N IP addr ess. It helps you to host some servers behind the router NAT firewall. Parameter Description Server IP This is the private IP of the server behind the NAT firewall.
2.4.4 DMZ If you have a local client PC that cannot run an Internet application (e.g. Games) properly fro m behind the NAT firewall, then you can open the cli ent up to unrestricted two-way Internet access by defining a DMZ Host.
2.5 Firewall The Broadband router provides exten sive firewall protection by restricting co nnection parameters, thus limiting the risk of hacker attack, and defending against a wide array of common Internet attacks. Note : To enable the Firewall settings se lect Enable and click Appl y Parameters Description 2.
2.5.1 Hacker Prevention The Broadband router's firewall can block common ha cker attacks, includin g Denial of Service, Ping of Death, Port Scan and Sync Flood. If Internet attacks occur the router can log the eve nts. Parameters Description Enable Hacker Attack Protect Check this box to enable th e hacker DoS attacks.
Accept Fragment Packets Check this box to accep t fragment packets . Send ICMP Packets When Error Check this box to enable sending ICMP packet s when an error occurs.
2.5.2 Client Filtering If you want to restrict users fr om accessing certain Internet app lications/ services (e.g. Internet websites, email, FTP etc.), then this is the place to set that configuration. Client Filtering allows users to define the traffic type permitted in your LAN.

2.5.3 URL Filtering You can block access to some Web sites fr om particu lar PCs by entering a full URL address or just keyword of the Web site. IP Enter the client IP addr ess range that you want to block from accessing the URL with specified keyword.
2.5.4 MAC Control You can block certain clien t PCs from accessing the Internet by M AC addresses . Parameters Description MAC Address Control Check this box to enable MAC Address Control Allow unspecified MAC address Check this box to allow unspecified MAC to connect to Internet addresses to access Internet.
2.6 Routing If you have multiple routers in your network by us ing static routing, you have to use these routing functions. Parameters Description 2.6.1 Static Routing Allow you to configure the static routing table of this router. 2.6.2 Dynamic Routing Allow you to select suitable dynamic ro uting protocol.
2.6.1 Static Routing Static Routing allows you to configur e the routing table of this router. Parameters Description Destination LAN IP The network IP address of the destination LAN. Subnet Mask The IP subnet mask of the destination L AN. Gateway The IP address of the neighbor gateway in the path toward the destination LAN.
2.6.2 Dynamic Routing Dynamic Routing allows the route r to automatica lly adjust the physical changes in the network layout. Parameters Description Working Mode Select the working mode of dynamic routing. You can select “Rout er” or “Gateway”.
2.7 UPnP UPnP allows you to configure UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) Internet G ateway Device parameters. Parameters Description 2.7.1 Settings Allow you to configure the parameters of UPnP. 2.7.2 Port Mapping Allow you to look up Port Mapping of UPnP.
2.7.1 UPnP Settings UPnP Settings allows you to config ure the basic para meters of UPnP. Parameters Description Enable UPnP Check this box to enable the UPnP function. UPnP Port Number Enter the port number used by UPnP. Advertise Time Enter the interval in second that the router advertise its existence as an UPnP IGD.
2.7.2 UPnP Port Mapping UPnP Port Mapping allows you to see t he port mappings of UPnP applications. Parameters Description Disable Port Mapping You can u ncheck the box in the first column to disable the port mapping.
2.8 DDNS DDNS allows you to map the static domain na me to a dynamic IP address. You must get an account, password and your st atic domain name from the DDNS service providers. Parameters Description Enable DDNS Select “Enable” above the table to ena ble DDNS function.
Enable Check this box to enable this DDNS entry. Click < Apply> at the bottom of the screen to save the above confi gurations. You can now configure other advance section s or start using the ro.
Chapter 3 Status The Status section allows you to monitor the current status of you r router. You can use the Status page to monitor: the connection status of t he Broadband router's WAN/LAN inte.
3.1 Status The Status section allows you to view the rout er’s system information and Intern et connection status. Parameters Description Information You can see the router’ s system information such as the route r’s: LAN MAC Address, WAN MAC A ddress, Hardware version, Serial Number, Boot code Version, Runtime cod e Version.
3.2 Security Log View any attempts that have been made to gain access to your network. Parameters Description Security Log This page shows the current securi ty log of the Broadband router.
3.3 DHCP Client List View your LAN client's information that i s cu rrently linked to the Broadband router's DHCP server Parameters Description DHCP Client Log This page shows all DHCP c lients (LAN PCs) currently connected to your network. It displays the IP address and the MAC address and Host Name of each LAN Client.
3.4 Routing Table List View the routing table of this router. Parameters Description Routing Table This page shows the routing table of this router. It displays the Destination LAN IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, Metric and Interfa ce of each routing table entry.
Chapter 4 Tools This page includes the basic co nfi guration tools, such as Config uration Tools (save or restore configuration settings), Firmware Upgra de (up grade system firmware) and Re set.
4.1 Configuration Tools The Configuration Tools scre en allows you to save ( Backup ) the router’s current configuration setting. Saving the configuration settings prov ides an added prote ction and convenien ce should problems occur with the router and you have to reset to factory def ault.
Parameters Description Configuration Tools Use the " Backup " tool to save the Broadband router current configuration to a file named "config.bin" on your PC. You can then use the " Restore " tool to restore the saved confi guration to the Broadband router.
4.2 Firmware Upgrade This page allows you to upgrade the router’s firmwa re Parameters Description Firmware Upgrade This tool allows you to upgrade the Broadba nd router’s system firmware.
4.3 Reset You can reset the router’ s system should any problem exist. The reset function essentially Re-boots your router’s syst em Parameters Description Reset In the event that the system st ops respondin g correctly or in some way stops f unctioning or y ou modi fy the configuration, you can perform a reset.
