10 System Requirements For Windows: The SoloPRO dr ive is formatte d with an NTFS fi le system, a default f or the Windows OS. For Mac: The Solo is supporte d on Mac’s using the G 3 (or later) or In tel processor. When connecting to a Mac, the SoloPRO dri ve will nee d to be reformatted o nce connected.
11 About USB 2.0 USB 2.0 has a ma ximum interface transfer rate, or bandwi dth, of 480 Mbps (Megabits per sec ond). The performan ce depends o n many factors including: CPU, file system o verhead, num ber of attached US B devices and more.
12 About eSATA eSATA, or extern al SATA, is a high performance inte rface that pro vides up to 6x faster transfer rate s than USB 2. 0 (up to 3 Gbits/s ec).
13 Securing the SoloPRO ( Suggestions) Kensington ® Security Slot For drive security, the SoloPRO is equipped w ith a Kensing ton security slo t, which supports a standard Kensi ngton security c able (sold separately). 14 For Added Security For added securit y, the SoloPRO can be sec ured with a c able and padlock or bolted to a floor. See the pictures below f or suggest ed methods on p hysically securing the Solo PRO .
15 Connecting the SoloPR O to Your Computer Using the USB connection 1. Connect the incl uded power supply to the back of t he SoloPRO . CAUTION! To avoid d amage to the power supply connect or, make sure it is aligned correctly before pluggi ng it into the dr ive.
16 4. Verify that the Driv e Mounts. Before storing d ata on the SoloPRO, the drive must be “mounted” to t he computers operati ng sys tem. This means that t he computers o perating system has recognize d at least one readabl e partition on the drive and established a communication li nk with it.
17 eSATA Connection For best perform ance and compatib ility with Windows Server and Lin ux , connect the drive to an eSATA host adapter or a built-in external eS ATA connection. Con nect the drive to USB if a sup ported eSATA conne ction is not available.
18 3. Connect the included power supply to the SoloPRO. CAUTION! To avoid damage t o the power s upply connector, m ake sure it is aligned corre ctly before plugg ing it into the drive. Do not mo ve the drive while it is powered up to a void drive dam age or data loss.
19 6. Verify that the Driv e Mounts. Before storing d ata on the SoloPRO, the dr ive must be “mounted” t o the computers ope rating system. T his means that the c omputers opera ting system has recognized a t least one readable part ition on the dri ve and established a communication link with it.
20 Disconnecting and Reconnecting the Drive using eSATA eSATA supports h ot-swapping by d esign, however, t his feature requires proper support a nd setup at the h ost, device (drive) , and operating-system level. If not prope rly configured you may have to po wer off your com puter and the SoloPRO before di sconnecting.
21 Formatting the Solo PRO for Mac OS The SoloPRO is fo rmatted NTFS an d may not be rec ognized by M ac OS 10.2 and earlier. You may get an alert me ssage which read s: “You have inserte d a disk containing n o volumes that Mac OS can read.” Clic k the ignore button and follow the ste ps below.
22 ioSafe Data Recovery Service Terms and Conditions As applicable du ring the Data Reco very Service pe riod and upon v alidated registration of an ioSafe (the Company) product on t he Company's we bsite (www.iosafe.com) , the Company or its contracted par tner will assist the original purchase r for one "data recover y event".
23 The Company's g ood faith attemp ts to restore and recover the dat a in accordance with these terms and conditions shall be the purch aser's sole and exclusive remedy and the Company shall not be liable for a ny damages whatsoever.
24 Following a Disaster If the SoloPRO is exposed to a disa ster such as a flood or fire, you shoul d immediately call the ioS afe Disaster Respon se Team at 1- 888 -98 4-6723 (US & Canada) or 1- 530 - 886 -1578 (Internatio nal) extension 430. Yo u can also sen d an email to disast ersupport@iosafe.

Place the ioSafe d evice in a heavy d uty plastic bag 6. Place the bagged ioSafe device in a small cardboard box with a pape r marked with the RMA #, name, phone and a ddress 7.
26 ioSafe Warranty If a mechanical or oper able part of an ioS afe malfunctions or breaks down during normal us e, ioSafe will at our o ption, repair or re place said pa rt free for a period of three ( 3) years from the date of purcha se.
