7 Important information U Make sure that the GIGA and the mains cable are not located clo se to hot surfaces. U Be careful to ensure that the mains cable is not tr apped and does not rub against sharp edges. U Never open and repair the mac hine yourself.

Always wipe the GIGA with a damp cloth rather than a w et one , and protect it from prolonged exposure to w ater splash. 11 1 Preparing and using for the first time T R emove an y dir t or foreign objects from inside the bean container . T Fill the bean container with coffee beans and close the aroma preservation cover . E Before the machine is used for the first time , the permanent wat er connection must be installed by a JURA ser vice tec hni- cian.
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time E T o display more languages, press the ‘Next’ button (bottom right). T Press the button that corresponds to the language you w ant, e.g . ‘English’ . ‘Saved ’ appears briefly on the display to confirm the setting.

17 2 Preparation On the display (star t screen), you will see v arious produc ts, which you can prep are by simply pr essing the corresponding button. A speciality coffee display ed on the star t screen is alwa ys prepared in the same wa y . Example : Proceed as follo ws to prepare one coffee .
18 2 Preparation As soon as you turn the Rotary Switch, more products are displayed in a product selec tor . E The product selec tor view disappears automatically after 5seconds if no prepar ation is star ted. Example : Proceed as follows to prepare a milky coffee using the product selec tor .

24 3 Daily operation 3 Daily oper ation When the GIGA is switched on, it automatically prompts you to perform the rinse operation. Start the rinse operation by pressing the Rotary Switch k .

40 5 Maintenance 5 Maintenance Y our GIGA has the following integrat ed maintenance progr ammes: U Rinsing the coffee system ( ‘Rinse the coff ee system’ ) U Rinsing the milk system in the dual sp.
41 5 Maintenance Depending on the setting in programming mode , the G IGA prompts you to rinse the milk syst em or automatically performs rinsing fol- lowing milk prepar ation. Example : Proceed as follo ws to rinse the milk system when prompted to do so.

T Press the ‘Next’ button. ‘Milk system is being cleaned. ’ , water flo ws out of the dual spout. ‘Wat er for cleaning milk system. ’ T Rinse the receptacle thoroughly , fill it with 250 ml of fresh wat er and immerse the milk pipe in the water .
43 5 Maintenance T Carefully pull the bottom par t of the milk system down and off. T Remov e the milk system from the dual spout. T Remov e the air intake pipe . T Dismantle the milk system into its individual par ts. T Rinse all the par ts under running water .
44 5 Maintenance T Fit the air intake pipe. T Fit the assembled individual par ts back in the dual spout and press it firmly . T Attach the bottom part of the milk system to the par t already inserted from below. T Fit the c over of the dual spout.
45 5 Maintenance E After the set amount of water has flo wed through the external filter cartridge, it will cease to w ork. Y our GIGA will automati- cally prompt you to c hange the filter . Example : Proc eed as follow s to change the filter when prompt ed to do so.

47 5 Maintenance If the descaling operation is int errupted, there may be damage to the machine . T Allow the descaling progr amme to run to the end. If the descaling agent comes into contact with sensitive surfaces (e.g. marble), damage cannot be ruled out.
