6 Important information Impor tant information This machine is intended for use b y specialist or trained staff in busi- nesses, light industry and agricult ural facilities or for c ommercial use by non-professionals. It should o nly be used for coff ee preparation and to heat milk and wat er .
7 Important information U T o completely and safely disc onnect the machine from the power supply , first switch off the GIGA using the On/Off but- ton and then at the power swit ch. Only then should you remov e the mains plug from the power sock et. There is a risk of scalds or burns on the spouts.
8 Important information People , including children, who U do not have the ph ysical, sensor y or mental capabilities to use the machine safely or U are inexperienced or lack knowledge in ho w to use the machine safely must be supervised by a responsible person when using it, or must be instructed in how to use it correctly .

10 1 Preparing and using for the first time The bean containers have an aroma preservation cov er . This will ensure that your coff ee beans retain their aroma for longer . Coffee beans which hav e been treated with additiv es (e.g. sugar), ground coffee or freez e-dried coffee will damage the grinders.
11 1 Preparing and using for the first time Precondition: The bean containers have been filled. T Connect the mains cable to the machine. T Inser t the mains plug into a pow er socket. 3 T Swit ch on the GIGA using the power switc h on the back of the machine .
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Place a receptacle under the dual spout. k T Press the Rotar y Swit ch. ‘System is filling. ’ , the system fills up with water . The opera- tion stops automatically . ‘Welc ome to JURA’ , ‘Mac hine is heating.

14 1 Preparing and using for the first time Y ou can find out what the water hardness is b y using the Aquadur® test strip supplied as standard. T Hold the test strip briefly (for 1second) under flo wing wat er . Shake off the w ater . T Wait f or about 1minute .
15 2 Preparation 2 Prepar ation E While a product is being prepared, you can stop preparation at any time . T o do this, press the Rotar y Switch k or the ‘ ’ button. E During preparation, you can c hange the preset amounts (e.g. amount of milk foam or w ater) b y turning the Rotary Switch g .
16 2 Preparation On the display (star t screen), you will see v arious produc ts, which you can prep are by simply pr essing the corresponding button. A speciality coffee display ed on the star t screen is alwa ys prepared in the same wa y . Example : Proceed as follo ws to prepare one coffee .
17 2 Preparation As soon as you turn the Rotary Switch, more products are displayed in a product selec tor . E The product selec tor view disappears automatically after 5seconds if no prepar ation is star ted. Example : Proceed as follows to prepare a milky coffee using the product selec tor .
18 2 Preparation Example : Proceed as follows to prepar e one coffee using ground coffee . Precondition: ‘Please select produc t:’ is display ed. T Place a cup under the dual spout. T Open the cover of the filler funnel f or ground coffee .
19 2 Preparation T Press any button as soon as there is sufficient coffee in the cup. Preparation stop s. ‘Saved ’ appears briefly on the display . The set amount of wat er for one coffee is permanently st ored. ‘Please select produc t:’ appears on the display .

23 3 Daily operation 3 Daily oper ation When the GIGA is switched on, it automatically prompts you to per - form the rinse oper ation. Start the rinse operation by pressing the Rotary Switch k .
24 3 Daily operation E In the interests of hygiene , we recommend c hanging the milk pipe on a regular basis (approx. e very 6 months). Replacement pipes are av ailable from specialised dealers. When you switc h off your GIGA, the dual spout is rinsed automati- cally .

39 5 Maintenance 5 Maintenance Y our GIGA has the following integrat ed maintenance progr ammes: U Rinsing the coffee system ( ‘Rinse the c offee system ’ ) U Rinsing the milk system in the dual s.
40 5 Maintenance Depending on the setting in programming mode , the G IGA prompts you to rinse the milk syst em or automatically performs rinsing fol- lowing milk prepar ation. Example : Proceed as follows to rinse the milk system when prompted to do so.
41 5 Maintenance T Place another receptacle under the dual spout. T Press the ‘Next’ button. ‘Milk system is being cleaned. ’ , water flo ws out of the dual spout. ‘Wat er for cleaning milk system. ’ T Rinse the receptacle thoroughly , fill it with 250 ml of fresh wat er and immerse the milk pipe in the water .
42 5 Maintenance T Carefully pull the bottom par t of the milk system down and off. T Remov e the milk system from the dual spout. T Remov e the air intake pipe . T Dismantle the milk system into its individual par ts. T Rinse all the par ts under running water .
43 5 Maintenance T Fit the air intake pipe. T Fit the assembled individual par ts back in the dual spout and press it firmly . T Attach the bottom part of the milk system to the par t already inserted from below. T Fit the c over of the dual spout.
44 5 Maintenance The professional steam lance must be dismantled and rinsed daily if milk has been frothed or heated to mak e sure it functions per fectly and also in the interests of hygiene . E Y our GIG A is supplied with two spanners to dismantle the pro - fessional steam lance and two brushes to c lean the two metal tubes.
45 5 Maintenance E Once the amount of water spec ified by the JURA service tech- nician has flow ed through the filter , the filter will cease to work.
46 5 Maintenance E Do not interrupt the cleaning progr amme. The quality of cleaning will be impaired if you do so . E JURA cleaning tablet s are av aila ble from specialised dealers. Example : Proceed as follo ws to clean when prompted t o do so. Precondition: ‘Clean machine .
47 5 Maintenance The GIGA builds up deposit s of limescale ov er time and automati- cally prompts you to descale it when necessary. The degree of calc i- fication depends on the hardness of your w ater . If the descaling agent comes into contact with the skin or eyes, this can cause irritation.
48 5 Maintenance T Completely dissolv e 6JURA descaling tablet s in a receptacle holding 1000ml of w ater . This may take sev eral minut es. T Pour the solution into the empty water tank and inser t it into the machine . ‘Press the Rotary Switch.
49 5 Maintenance Coffee beans may be c ov ered with a slight oil film which remains on the walls of the bean c ontainers. These traces may negativ ely affect the coffee result. F or this reason clean the bean containers from time to time . Precondition: ‘Fill bean container .
