The machines, whic h are pro - duced in S witzerland, hav e already impressed independent, critical testers of goods and design aw ard juries.

12 1 IMPRESSA C5 – C lick & Drink Connector System © The Connector System © allows one t o use the Easy Cappuc - cino F rother , which is fitted as standard, a hot water no zzle for an ev en jet of wat er and the optionally available 2-stage froth- ing nozzle or the Professional Cappucc ino F rother for perfec t milk foam or hot milk.
13 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time This chapter pro vides you with the inf ormation you need to use y our IMPRESS A without any problems. Y o u will prepare your IMPRESS A step-by-step for y our first coffee experience using it.
14 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time T o enjoy perfect coffee , we recommend that y ou change the wa ter ever y day. Only use fresh, cold wa ter to refill the w ater tank and never milk, miner al water or other liquids. Open the cov er of the wat er t ank.
15 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time If the machine is oper ated with a defective pow er cable, there is a danger of electric shock. Nev er use a machine which has a defective po wer cable . Precondition : the w ater tank must be full.
16 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time m l Press the Rotar y S witch. The machine will rinse itself, stopping aut omatically . The 1 Espresso symbol a will light up indicating that your IMPRESS A is ready to use .
17 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time Precondition : y our IMPRESS A must be switched off (standby mode). Open the access door . n l Hold down the Filt er button until the Filter indicator n lights up. ä l T urn the Rotary Switch until the 3 light segments around the Rotary Switch light up .
18 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time The harder the wa ter is, the more frequently the IMPRESSA needs t o be descaled. It is therefore import an t to set the w ater hardness. How ever , if you are using the CLARIS plus filter cartridge and hav e ac tiv ated the filter , you will not be able t o adjust the wa ter hardness.
19 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time Example : to c hange the water hardness from le vel 3 to le vel 4, proceed as follo ws: Precondition: y our IMPRESS A must be switched off (standby mode). Open the access door . b l Hold down the Descaling button until the Descaling indi- cator b lights up.
20 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time m l Press the Rotar y Swit ch to initiate prepar ation of the coffee . The grinder will now star t up , and the 1 coffee symbol D flashes . T urn the fineness of grind switch to the desired position while the grinder is running.
21 3 F amiliarising yourself with the control options With the IMPRESS A , y ou can prep are an exc ellent coffee speciality at the touch of a button. Y ou also have the option of adjusting the coffee strength and amount of w ater to y our personal taste while the coffee is bre wing.

29 4 Recipes 2 cold Espressos 200 ml cold milk 1 small cup crushed ice 20 ml maple syrup Milk foam Ingredient s (for two people) Prepare Espresso an d leav e to cool. Put cold milk, the maple syrup and crushed ice in a glass and mix. Add the cold Espresso .

32 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button A classic Italian recipe . The Cappuccino consist s one-third of Espresso, hot milk and milk foam. It is finished with a sprinkling of cocoa po wder . Precondition : y our IMPRESS A is ready to use, the Easy Cappucc ino F rother is mounted.
33 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button T o ensure that the Easy Cappuccino F rother w orks per fectly , you should clean it regularly . F or fur ther information on cleaning, see Chapter 8, “Maint enance – cleaning the Easy Cappuccino F rother”.
34 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button Open the filler funnel for pre-ground coffee . Place one le vel measuring spoon of pre-ground coffee in the filler funnel. ä l T urn the Rotar y Switc h to the 1 coffee setting d . m l Press the R otar y Switc h to initiate preparation of the coffee.
35 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button r l T urn the switch in the anticlockwise direc tion. The milk foam will be prepared. t l T urn the switc h in the clockwise direc tion when there is sufficient milk foam in the cup . As l ong as the light segment c ontinues to flash by the switc h, you can c ontinue preparing milk foam.
36 6 Adjusting the permanent cup siz e settings It is easy to adjust the amount of w ater for all coff ee specialities to the cup siz e for good. As in the following example , adjust the amount of wa ter once . E very time you prepare a drink in the future, this amount of wa ter will be dispensed.
37 7 Adjusting the permanent settings in programming mode By instructing your IMPRESS A to switch itself off, y ou can cut do wn your energy c onsumption.
38 7 Adjusting the permanent settings in programming mode ä l T urn the Rotar y S witch until the 2 symbols a s light up. m l Press the Rotary Switch to c onfirm the setting. The IMPRESS A will switch itself off (into standby mode). The progr ammable switch-off time is now configured at 2 hours.
39 8 Maintenance Y our IMPRESSA has the f ollowing integr ated maintenanc e pro - gr ams: Rinse the machine Change the filter Clean the machine Descale the machine The illuminated maintenanc e indicator dra ws your attention t o the maintenance actions that are necessary .
40 8 Maintenance Once the IMPRESS A has heated up follo wing switch-on, the Maintenance symbol h will light up , prompting you t o per - form a rinse oper ation. T o initiate the rinse oper ation, press the Rotary Switch. When the IMPRESS A is switched off , a rinse oper ation is auto - matically per formed.
41 8 Maintenance Lif t the cartridge holder . T ak e out the old CLARIS plus filter car tridge . Inser t the new CLARIS plus filt er car tridge into the w ater tank, pressing it lightly . Close the cartridge holder . It will lock into place audibly . Fill the wa ter tank with cold, fresh mains water and reinser t.
42 8 Maintenance The cleaning progr am only last s about 15 minut es. Do not interrupt the cleaning progr am, as this will impair the qualit y of cleaning. Y our dealer will stock JURA cleaning tablet s. T r y out the “Cleaning the mac hine” oper ation online.
43 8 Maintenance Inser t the empty drip tray and c offee grounds container back in the machine . The cleaning oper ation is now complet e. The Maint enance symbol h flashes, the IMPRESS A heat s up and is once again ready for use . Y ou can initiate the “Cleaning the mac hine” oper ation manually .
44 8 Maintenance T o descale your IMP RESSA when prompted to do so, you should proceed as follo ws: Precondition : the maintenanc e indicator and the Descaling indi- cator b are lit up. b l Hold down the Descaling button until the Descaling indi- cator b flashes.
45 8 Maintenance t l T urn the switch in the clockwise direc tion. The descaling oper ation will resume. After a few minut es, the coffee grounds c ont ainer indicator x flashes. Empt y the container under the Connector System © . Empt y the drip tr ay and the co ffee grounds container .
46 8 Maintenance T o ensure that the Easy Cappuccino F rother w orks per fectly , you should rinse it with wa ter whenev er you hav e prepared some milk. The IMPRESS A will not prompt you to rinse the Easy Cappuc - cino F rot her . Carefully remov e the Easy Cappuccino F rother from the Connector System © .
47 8 Maintenance Immerse the milk pipe in the receptacle. ä l T urn the Rotar y Swit ch so that it points to the Steam symbol k . m l Press the Rotary Switch to c onfirm the ac tion. The Steam symbol k will c ontinue flashing until the IMPRESS A has warmed up .
48 8 Maintenance The wa ter tank may build up deposits of limescale. In order to ensure per fect working order , descale the wa ter tank from time to time . Remo ve the w ater tank. If you use a CLARIS plus filt er car tridge, remo ve this. Descale the tank with a mild conventional descaling agent.
49 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Wat er for per fect coffee Any one who has ev er drunk fresh spring water kno ws: There is a world of differenc e bet ween the elixir of life in its natural f orm and the processed fluid that comes out of our taps.
50 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Wat er for per fect coffee Y ou can see it at work on y our household appliances ev er y day . Lef t to its own device s, scale can cause serious damage. Ov er time, scale is deposited on the heating elements, clogging the heating ele- ments and pipes.
51 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Wat er for per fect coffee The wa ter flows through the filter at a c onstant speed, disturbing the gr anulate and ensuring that it is used ev enly . This system ensures that the filter is used to optimum effect. The remaining w ater in the tank is lef t untouched until the next cup of coffee is made .
52 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Wat er for per fect coffee CLARIS plus filter cartridges should be kept out of the reach of children. Store them dry in the sealed package . Protect them from heat and direc t sunlight. Do NO T use damaged CLARIS plus filter car tridges.
