10 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Remove an y dirt or foreign object s from inside the bean container . T Fill the bean c ontainer with coffee beans, then close the aroma preservation cover and the bean c ontainer cov er . If the machine is oper ated with a defective mains cable , there is a danger of potentially fatal electric shock.
11 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Place a receptacle under the coffee spout. k T Press the Rotar y Switch. ‘Machine is rinsing. ’ , the machine rinses. The operation stops automatically . ‘Please select produc t:’ appears on the display .
12 1 Preparing and using for the first time T Open the filter holder and inser t the filter cartridge into the wat er tank, exerting slight pressure. T Close the filter holder . It will click into plac e audibly . E After t wo months, the filter will cease t o work.
13 1 Preparing and using for the first time Y ou can find out what the water hardness is b y using the Aquadur® test strip supplied as standard. T Hold the test strip briefly (f or 1 second) under flowing w ater . Shake off the w ater . T Wait f or about one minute .
14 1 Preparing and using for the first time Y ou can adjust the grinder on a continuous scale to suit the degree of roast of your coff ee. If you adjust the consist ency of grind when the grinder is not oper - ating, the grinder adjustment switch could be damaged.
15 2 Preparation 2 Preparation E Y ou can stop preparation of a speciality coffee , speciality cof- fee with milk or hot wa ter at any time . Just press any button.
16 2 Preparation ‘Espresso ’ and ‘Co ffee’ are prepared following this model. Example : Proceed as follo ws to prepare one coffee . T Place a cup under the coffee spout. T Press the ‘Coffee’ button. Preparation will no w begin. The preset amount of wat er for coffee flo ws into the cup.
17 2 Preparation Y our IMPRESSA can prepare a latt e macc hiato or cappuccino at the touch of a button. There is no need to mo ve the glass or c up. Example : Proceed as follo ws to prep are one latte macc hiato. T Remov e the protective co ver from the cappuccino frother .
18 2 Preparation Example : Proceed as follo ws to prepare milk foam. T Remov e the protective co ver from the cappuccino frother . T Attach the milk pipe to the cappuccino frother . Use the long pipe for a milk carton and the shor t pipe for a milk container .
19 2 Preparation E The desired speciality coffee mu st be prepared within approx - imately one minute after filling with the ground coffee . Oth- erwise the IMPRESSA stops the oper ation and is once more ready for use . All speciality coffees with ground coffee are prepared f ollowing this model.
20 2 Preparation T Press any button as soon as there is sufficient c offee in the cup. Preparation stop s. ‘Saved ’ appears briefly on the display . The set amount of wat er for one coffee is permanently st ored. ‘Please select produc t:’ appears on the display .
21 3 Daily operation 3 Daily operation When the IMPRESSA is swit ched on, it automatically prompts you to perform the rinse operation. Start the rinse operation b y pressing the Rotary Switch k . In progr amming mode you can c hange this setting so that the machine start s the switch-on rinse automatically .
22 3 Daily operation When you switc h your IMPRES SA off , the spouts used to prepare a speciality coffee or milk are rinsed. T Place one receptacle under the coffee spout and another under the cappuccino frother . Q T Press the On/Off button. ‘Machine is rinsing.
23 4 Permanent settings in programming mode 4 Permanent settings in programming mode Press the P button to enter progr amming mode . Y ou can navigate through the programme it ems and permanently save the required settings simply by turning the R otar y Switc h and using the variable buttons.

33 5 Maintenance After each milk preparation, the IMPRES SA prompts you to rinse the milk system. Precondition: ‘Rinse the milk system’ is displa yed. T Place a receptacle under the cappuccino frother . c T Press the Rotar y Switch. ‘Milk system is being rinsed.

35 5 Maintenance T Press the ‘Next’ button. ‘Change filter’ T Remov e and empty the water tank. T O pen the filter holder and remov e the old CLARIS Blue filter cartridge and filter ex tension. T Fit the filter extension on top of a new filter cartridge.
36 5 Maintenance After 200 preparations or 80 switch-on rinses, the IMPRES SA will prompt you to c lean it. If the wrong cleaning agent is used, the machine could be damaged and/or trac es could be left behind in the water . T Use only original JURA maintenance products.
