ENGLISH 6 Preparing the remote controller 2. Place the battery . Slide the batter y into the holder with the + side facing upw ards so that the batter y is fixed in the holder . Lithium coin battery (product number: CR2025) 3. Return the battery holder .
7 ENGLISH 1 T urn on the power and select the source. When you press the button for the first time , the po wer comes on. Then each time you press the b utton, the source changes as follo ws: * If a disc is not in the loading slot, you cannot select CD as the sour ce to play .
8 ENGLISH RADIO BASIC OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune into a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select FM or AM. 1 Press SOURCE repeatedly to select FM or AM as the source.
9 ENGLISH Storing stations in memor y Y ou can use one of the following two methods to store broadcasting stations in memor y . • Automatic preset of FM stations: SSM (Strong- station Sequential Mem.
10 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex.: Stor ing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM) y ou want to store stations into (in this example, FM1).
11 ENGLISH T o use Network-T rac king Reception, press and hold TP (traffic programme) f or more than 1 second. Each time you press and hold the b utton, Network- T rac king Reception modes change as follo ws: Mode 1 Network-T rac king Reception is activated with Regionalization set to “off .
12 ENGLISH The same programme can be receiv ed on different frequencies. PTY Standby Reception When you press PTY while listening to an FM station, the PTY indicator is lit during reception of a PTY station and the PTY standby mode is engaged. The selected PTY name stored on page 13 flashes for 5 seconds.
13 ENGLISH Searching your favorite programme Y ou can search one of your 6 fa vorite progr amme types stored in memory . When shipped from the f actor y , the following 6 programme types ha ve been stored in the number buttons (1 to 6). T o store your fav orite programme types, see below .
14 ENGLISH 4 Press and hold the number b utton for more than 2 seconds to store the PTY code selected into the preset number you want. “MEMOR Y” and the selected code name will flash alternately . Then, only the selected code name will continue flashing on the displa y .
15 ENGLISH Changing the display mode while listening to an FM station Y ou can change the initial indication on the displa y to station name (PS NAME) or station frequency (FREQUENCY) while listening to an FM RDS station. • See also “Changing the general settings (PSM)” on page 30.

17 ENGLISH CD OPERA TIONS Notes: • When a disc is in the loading slot, selecting “CD” as the source b y pressing SOURCE starts CD play . • When a disc is inserted upside down, the disc automatically ejects. • When you play a CD T ext, the disc title and performer appear on the display .
18 ENGLISH Locating a track or particular portion on a CD T o fast-for ward or reverse the track T o go to the next track or the previous tracks Press and hold ¢ while playing a disc , to f ast-forward the trac k. Press and hold 4 while playing a disc , to rev erse the trac k.
19 ENGLISH T o play back only intros (Intro scan) Y ou can play bac k the first 15 seconds of each trac k sequentially . 1 Press M/B (mode/band) while playing a disc. This unit enters the functions mode. 2 Press INT (intro scan) while still in the functions mode, so that the “INT” appears on the displa y .
20 ENGLISH MP3 INTRODUCTION How are MP3 files recorded and played back? MP3 “ files (tracks) ” can be recorded in “ directories (folder s) ”—in PC ter minology . During recording, the files and directories can be arranged in a wa y similar to arranging files and directories/folders of computer data.
21 ENGLISH MP3 directory/ file configuration MP3 playback/search order (page 23) • The numbers in circles next to the MP3 files ( ) indicate the playback order and search order of the MP3 files. Nor mally this unit plays back MP3 files in the recorded order .
22 ENGLISH Ref er also to “CD OPERA TIONS” on pages 17 to 19. Playing an MP3 disc 1 Open the loading slot. The control panel mov es down, and the loading slot appears. 2 Insert an MP3 disc into the loading slot. The unit draws the disc, the control panel goes back to its pre vious position (see page 35) and playbac k star ts automatically .
23 ENGLISH T o change the display information While playing bac k an MP3 file, you can change the file information shown on the display . Each time you press D (displa y), the displa y changes to sho .
24 ENGLISH T o skip to the next director y—either on the same hierarchy level or on a different hierarchy level On the control panel: 1 Press M/B (mode/band) while playing an MP3 disc. The unit enters the functions mode. 2 Press ¢ briefly while still in the functions mode.

29 ENGLISH 3 Adjust the selected sound element. • Refer to the tab le below f or adjusting the selected sound element. 4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 to adjust the other sound elements. 5 Select one of the user sound modes (USER 1, USER 2, USER 3). 6 Press EQ to store the adjustments.

33 ENGLISH T o select the subwoofer cutoff frequency – CUTOFF F When a subwoof er is connected to this unit, select an appropriate cutoff frequency lev el for your subwoof er . When shipped from the f actory , the subwoofer cutoff frequency is set to “FREQ MID .
34 ENGLISH Assigning names to the sources Y ou can assign names to CDs and the external components. After assigning a name, it will appear on the displa y when y ou select the source.
35 ENGLISH Changing the control panel angle Y ou can change the angle of the control panel to four positions . Adjust the angle to the position you want. Each time y ou press the button, the panel angle changes as f ollows: When using the remote controller Press ANGLE ∞ repeatedly .
36 ENGLISH Detaching the control panel Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder .
ENGLISH 37 EXTERNAL COMPONENT OPERA TIONS Playing external components Y ou can connect two external components to this unit. Connect one to the auxiliar y input jack on the control panel, and the other to the LINE IN plugs on the rear . Y ou can connect a JVC D VD player or VCR to the LINE IN plugs.
ENGLISH 38 2 T urn on the connected component and start playing the source. • If connecting a JVC D VD play er or VCR, you can perf orm the following operations: When connecting a DVD player: : T urns on and off the power . 3 : Star ts playbac k. ¡ : • F ast-forw ard the track when pressed and held.
39 ENGLISH CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS W e recommend that you use one of the CH-X series with your unit. If you ha ve another CD automatic changer , consult your JVC IN-CAR ENTER T AINMENT dealer f or connections. • F or example , if your CD automatic changer is one of the KD-MK series, you need a cor d (KS-U15K) for connecting it to this unit.
40 ENGLISH T o go to a particular disc directly Press the number b utton corresponding to the disc number to start its playback (while the CD changer is pla ying). • T o select a disc number from 1 – 6: Press 1 (7) – 6 (12) briefly . • T o select a disc number from 7 – 12: Press and hold 1 (7) – 6 (12) f or more than 1 second.
ENGLISH 41 T uning into an ensemble and one of the services A typical ensemble has 6 or more progr ammes (ser vices) broadcast at the same time. After tuning into an ensemble , you can select a ser vice you w ant to listen to. 1 Select the D AB tuner .
ENGLISH 42 3 Start searching an ensemble. When an ensemble is receiv ed, searching stops. T o stop sear ching bef ore an ensemble is received, press the same button y ou have pressed f or searching. 4 Select a service you want to listen to. 1 Press M/B (mode/band).
ENGLISH 43 “P 1” flashes f or a while. Storing DAB services in memory Y ou can preset up to 6 DAB services in each DAB band (DAB1, D AB2 and DAB3) manually . 1 Select the D AB tuner . When you select a source , the pow er automatically comes on. Each time you press the button, the source changes as described on page 7.
ENGLISH 44 What you can do more with DAB T racing the same program automatically (Alternative Reception) Y ou can keep listening to the same program. • While receiving a DAB service: When driving in an area where a ser vice cannot be received, this unit automatically tunes in another ensemble or FM RDS station, broadcasting the same program.

46 ENGLISH TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alwa ys serious. Chec k the follo wing points before calling a service center . Remedies Inser t the disc correctly . Stop pla yback while driving on rough roads. Change the disc. Check the cords and connections.
47 ENGLISH MP3 Playback Causes No MP3 files are recorded on the disc. MP3 files do not hav e the extension code—mp3 in their file names. MP3 files are not recorded in the f or mat compliant with ISO 9660 Lev el 1 or 2. The file play ed back is not an MP3 file (although it has the extension code—mp3).
48 ENGLISH When playing a CD-R or CD-RW Y ou can pla y back y our original CD-Rs or CD-RWs recorded in audio CD format or in MP3 format. (Howe ver , the y ma y not be play ed back depending on their characteristics or recording conditions.
