6 Intr oduction Y o u can operate your TV using the remote control of this system. Setting the manufacturer code 1 Slide the remote control mode selector to TV. 2 Hold down F TV. • Hold down F TV until you finish step 4. 3 Press ENTER and release. 4 Press number buttons (1-9, 0).
7 Connecting the AM loop antenna (supplied) 3 Turn the AM loop antenna to find the best position for radio reception. Place the AM loop antenna as far from the receiver as possible. • Do not place the AM loop antenna on a metallic table or close to a TV , computer , or other electric appliances.

9 There is no difference between the left and right speakers. CAUTION • Do not short-circui t the ª and · speaker terminals. Doing so ma y damage the receiver . • Do not connect other speakers toge ther with the supplied speake rs. The change in i mpedance may damage the re ceiver and the spea kers.

14 Preparation/Basic operations • 1 Slide the remote control mode selector to RECEIVER. 2 Press F AUDIO (or F on the receiver). • The power of the receiv er will turn on and the ST ANDBY lamp on the receiver will turn off . • Press F A UDIO again to tur n off the power of the receiver .

22 Play ing back DV D s / C D s ■ VCD/SVCD When a disc is played back • PBC (Play Back Control) is a signal recorded in a VCD (version 2.0) f or controlling playbac k. Y ou can enjoy interactiv e software or softw are with a search function using a menu screen recorded in a PBC compatible VCD .

26 Play ing back D VDs/CDs Y ou can skip within a file at about 5 minute intervals . This is useful especially when you wa nt to skip within a long file. 7 When a disc is played back 1 Slide the remote control mode selector to DVD. 2 Press 2 or 3 (cursor).

28 Play ing back D VDs/CDs Y ou ca n lock the disc tra y to pre vent the disc from being ejected. Setting Turn off the DVD player. And while holding down 7 on the DVD player, press 0 on the DVD player. • “LOCKED” appears in the display windo w on the D VD play er .

33 7 When a scene contai ning multi-view angl es is played back 1 Slide the remote control mode selector to DVD. 2 Press ANGLE. • Each time you press the b utton, the angle will be changed. Also, the angle can be changed by pressing 5 / / (cursor). 3 Press ENTER.
34 Play ing back D VDs/CDs 7 When a disc is played back or paused 1 Slide the remote control mode selector to DVD. 2 Press VFP. • The current setting will appear on the TV screen. • The “GAMMA” setting adjusts the brightness of neutral tints while maintaining the brightness of dar k and bright por tions.
35 Some D VD A UDIOs may ha v e pictures call ed B.S .P . (Browsab le Still Pictures). The pictu res can be viewed as if you are turni ng pages. 41 Connect the other audio equipment to this system in advance ( A page 12). 1 Slide the remote control mode selector to RECEIVER. 2 Press AUX to select “AUX-DIGITAL” or “AUX”. • Each time you press AU X , the display on the receiver toggles between “A UX-DIGIT AL ” and “A UX”.
42 Listening to the sound of other audio equipment/Timer When the time you specif y elapses , the system will be tur ned off automatically . 1 Slide the remote control mode selector to RECEIVER. 2 Press SLEEP. • Each time you press the button, the time indicated in the display window on the receiver changes (in minutes).

44 Timer 9 Press F AUDIO to turn off the receiver. • The playbac k timer is availab le only when the receiver is off . NOTE • Complete the playback timer setting at least 1 minute prior to the starti ng time you have selected in step 4.
45 When a JVC-manuf a ctured TV with A V COMPU LINK II or III ter minals is connected to the D VD play er using these ter minals, operating ei ther the TV or the D VD play er cont rols the other equi pment at the same time. NOTE • “AV COMPU LINK” is printed for terminals on some JVC-manufactured TVs.
46 Reference 7 Important cautions Installation of the system • Select a place which is lev el, dry and neither too hot nor too cold; between 5°C and 35°C. • Leav e sufficient distance between the system and the TV . • Do not use the system in a place subject to vibration.
47 • Discs should be finalized before being pla yed bac k. 1 A D VD-R recorded in multi-border format is also play able (except f or dual layer discs). 2 O nly when a D VD-R is compatible with CPRM (Content Protection for Recordab le Media), D VD VR format can be used.
48 Reference Discs that cannot be played back • The follo wing discs cannot be pla yed bac k: D VD-ROM (e xcept f or MP3/WMA/JPEG/ASF/DivX/ MPEG1/MPEG2 format), D VD-RAM, CD-ROM, CD-I (CD-I Ready), Photo CD , SACD , etc. Play ing back these discs will generate noise and damage the speakers.
49 DVD VIDEO/DVD VR A D VD VIDEO consists of “titles” and each titl e may be divided into “chapters”. A D VD VR consists of “original programs” or “play lists” and each origina l program/pla y list may be divided into “chapters”. .
50 Reference When you encounter a problem that seems to be a fault, check the f o llowing points bef ore contacting the JVC ser vice center : Power source 7 Power does not come on. • The power cord of the receiver or the D VD play er is not connected to an A C outlet.
51 Other 7 You cannot switch audio or subtitles between languages. • The disc does not contain multiple languages. → If only a single lang uage is recorded on the disc, you cannot sw itch the current language to another language . ( A page 32) 7 No subtitle is displayed.
