G-2 CA UTION ■ About the Internal Cooling Fan This un it (CA-VSD T2000) i ncludes an inter nal coolin g fan, so as to allow for high-power operation within a smal l space. This fan comes on when th e sound lev el is set high, and may also come on ev en at low sou nd le vels if the inter nal tem perature ri ses.

4 Getting St arted CAUT ION: • Make all connections before plugging the System into an AC power outlet. (Only if you install the Center U nit vertically) • To place the Center Unit vertically , the Stand and Legs m ust be attached.
5 Gett ing S tarte d Connec ting the AM An tenna Rear Pa nel of t he Cente r Unit ( CA-VSD T2000) • The AM loop antenna can be attached to a wall. • If the AM loop antenna wire is covered with vinyl, remove the vinyl by twisting it as shown in t he diagram.

7 Gett ing S tarte d Attachi ng the Spacers Attach the supp lied sp acers to t he bottom of th e powere d subwoo fer (SP-P W2000) to pr otect the c abinet , prevent slippi ng, and absorb the cabinet vib ration. Peel off th e backing from a spa cer and attach it.
8 Getting St arted Connec ting an MD Record er, etc (Digi tal Ou tput) Remove the ca p and conn ect an optica l digital cord (not supplied) be tween the Syst em’s CD DIGITAL OUT terminal and the input term inal of the MD record er, etc. You can reco rd the digital outpu t signal from the System’s CD Play er to the MD recorder, etc .

CAUT IONS: Attachment to a wall • The Cente r Unit weighs approximately 4.3 kg (9.5 lbs). When its buttons ar e operated, a n additional f orce will be a pplied to it in the downward directi on.

Att ach th e brac ket (su pplie d) to the wal l using two s crews ( not suppl ied) and place the Sp eaker onto the brac ket. Then , use the wi ng bolt (suppl ied) to fix the S peake r firmly to the br akcet.
11 Gett ing S tarte d Using th e Remote Co ntrol The Remot e Control makes it easy to us e many of the fu nctions of the System fro m a distance of up to 7 m (23 fee t) away. The r emote sens or at which you need to poin t the Re mote Cont rol di ffers depe nding o n wheth er the Uni t is pla ced vertica lly or horiz ontally.
12 Basic Operations Turning the Pow er On and O ff Turning the System On Press the % bu tton. The di splay com es on and “ HELLO ” is displayed once. The operat ion indi cators light on the Pan el. (The Panel ope ns automatically if the Unit is placed verti- cally an d the DISP.
13 Basic Operat ions Changin g the Color (COLOR) (Using the Remo te Control) You can ch ange the c olor of the illumina tion on the Un it. 1 Press the % button to turn on the Sys- tem. 2 Press the COLOR button on the Remote Contr ol. “ RANDOM COLOR ” is displa yed.
14 Using the Powered Subwoofer Operat ing the Power ed Subwoofer Presetting the Volume You need to preset the vol ume level of t his speaker (SP- PW2000) to match those of the main speakers (S P- VSDT20 00).
15 Using the Powere d Subwoofer INPUT Terminals The Subwoofer ha s the following INPUT terminals. INPUT(LO W -LEVEL): Usually, the LEFT/MONO terminal is connected to the SUBWOOFER terminal of the Center Unit with the supplied signal cord. (see p age 7.
16 Using the Tuner You can liste n to FM and AM stat ions. Station s can be tuned in man ually, automatica lly, or from preset me mory storage. ■ Before listening to the radio: • Make sure that bo th the FM an d AM antennas are c or- rectly co nnected.
17 Using the Tuner Presetti ng Stations (Using the Remo te Control) You can pr eset up to 30 FM statio ns and up to 15 AM sta- tions. • Preset n umbers may hav e been set to f actory test fre- quencies prior to shipment. This is not a malfunction. You can preset the stations you want into memory by following one of the presetting methods below.
18 Using the CD Player You can use Normal, Random, Program or Repeat Play. Re- peat Play can repeat all the tracks or j ust one of the tracks on the CD. Here are the basic thi ngs you need to know to play a CD and locate the different t racks on it. This un it has been designed to play b ack the follow ing CDs.
19 Using the CD Play er To Unlo ad a CD Press the 0 butto n on the Uni t to eject a CD. The CD is ejected a utomatically, then tak e out the CD. Basics of Usi ng the CD Playe r — Normal Play To Play a CD 1 Insert a CD. 2 Press the 3¥8 but ton. The first tr ack of the CD begins play ing.
20 Using the CD Play er 5 Press the Number button to select the trac k to program. Each time y ou press the Nu mber button, t he selected track is adde d to the pro gram. • For the track number more than 10, press the +10 bu tton then the Number b utton.
21 Using External Equipment Listening t o External Equipme nt You can listen to external equipm ent such as MD recorde r, cassette de ck or other auxi liary. ■ First make su re that the external eq uipment i s properly connected to the System. (Se e page 7.
22 Using the Timers The timers let y ou control li stening functi ons automatically . Settin g the Cloc k (Using the Remo te Control) • When you p lug the A C powe r cord into th e wall outle t, the time indica tion “ AM 12:00 ” blinks on the display .
23 Using the Timer s Settin g the Daily Timer (Using the Remo te Control) Once you h ave set the Daily Time r, the time r will be ac ti- vated at the same time eve ry day. The Ti mer indica tor ( ) on the disp lay shows th at the Dai- ly Timer you have se t is in effect.
24 Using the Timer s 6 Befor e turning off the System, prepare the music sour ce selected in step 3. TUNER: Tune in to the des ired station. CD: Insert a CD. (Playback will start from the first track at Timer on .) 7 Press the % button to turn off the Sys- tem.
25 Care And Maintenance Handle your CDs carefully, and they will last a long time. Compact Discs CAUT ION: • Do not u se any solven t (for exam ple, con- ventiona l record cleaner, spray thinn er, benzine, e tc.) to clea n a CD.
