– 6 – Putting the Batteries into the Remote Control Insert the batteries—R6P(SUM-3)/AA(15F)—into the remote control, by matching the polarity (+ and –) on the batteries with the + and – marking on the battery compartment. When the remote control can no longer operate the unit, replace both batteries at the same time.
– 7 – Connecting Antennas FM antenna ANTENNA FM(75 Ω ) COAXIAL AM EXT AM LOOP 1 Attach the FM antenna to the FM (75 Ω ) CO AXIAL terminal. 2 Extend the FM antenna. 3 F asten it up in the position which g ives you the best reception. About the supplied FM antenna The FM antenna supplied with this unit can be used as temporary measure.

– 11 – T urning On the Power When you press the play b uttons (CD 3 / 8 , T APE 2 3 ) for a particular source or FM/AM and A UX/MD, the unit automatically turns on (and starts playback if the source is ready .) T o tur n on the unit without playing, press ST ANDBY/ON.
– 12 – Adjusting the V olume Y ou can adjust the v olume level while the unit is turned on. The volume le vel has no effect on recording. T o increase the volume, press V OLUME +. T o decrease the volume, press V OLUME –. The volume le vel meter appears on the display .
– 13 – Setting the Display Illumination Y ou can change the color and brightness of the display illumination. T o select the color pattern Y ou can select the color pattern by your preference. While the unit is turned on, press COLOR repeatedly until the color pattern y ou want appears on the display .

– 15 – Presetting Stations Y ou can preset 30 FM and 15 AM (MW/L W) stations manually . In some cases, test frequencies ha ve been alread y memoriz ed for the tuner since the factor y examined the tuner preset function before shipment. This is not a malfunction.
– 16 – More about RDS • Some FM stations do not provide RDS signals. • RDS services v ar y among FM RDS stations. For details on RDS services in your area, check with local radio stations. • RDS may not work correctly if the r ecei v ed station is not transmitting the signals properly or if the signal strength is weak.
– 17 – On the remote control ONL Y : 1 Press and hold RDS CONTR OL until you finish the following pr ocedure. 2 Press PTY . “PTY SELECT” appears on the display . 3 Press SELECT + / – to select a PTY code. The selected PTY code starts flashing on the display .

– 21 – Playing Back the Entire CD—Normal Play Y ou can play a CD. 1 Pr ess CD open/close 0 on the unit. The unit automatically turns on, the electronic swing panel slides upw ard, and the disc tray comes out. 2 Place a CD correctly on the cir cle of the disc tray with its label side up.
– 22 – T o stop during pla y , press 7 . The f ollowing inf ormation appears. T o remove the disc, press CD open/close 0 . The electronic swing panel slides upward, and the disc tray comes out. • After removing the CD, pr ess CD open/close 0 a gain to close the electronic swing panel.
