8 C ookware material t ypes The cookware material determines ho w evenly and quickly heat is transferred fr om the surface element to the pan bottom. The most popular materials available are: Aluminum - Excellent heat conductor . Some types of food will cause it to darken (Anodized aluminum cookware resists staining & pitting).

11 Setting Surface C ontrols The size and type of utensil used, and the amount and type of food being cooked will influence the surface element po wer level setting needed for best cooking results. The suggested settings found in Fig. 1 belo w are based when cooking with medium-weight aluminum pans with lids.
12 Setting Surface C ontrols Dual radiant surface element To operate the dual radiant element: 1. Place correctly sized cookware on single radiant surface element. 2. Push in and turn the surface control knob clockwise to begin heating both the inner and outer portions of the element (marked dual - See Fig.

14 Setting Surface C ontrols Y our appliance may be equipped with one or tw o elements on the ceramic cooktop marked TURBO BOIL. These higher wattage radiant elements are best used when bringing larger quantities of liquid to temperature and when preparing larger quantities of food.
15 Setting Surface C ontrols Warm & Ready™ Zone Always start with hot food. Do not heat cold food with the warmer zone. All food placed on the warmer zone should be co vered with a lid to maintain quality . For best results, when warming pastries or breads , the co ver should have an opening to allow moisture to escape.

18 Changing oven temperature display The o ven contr ol is preset to display °F (Fahrenheit) when shipped from the factory . The control can be changed to display either Fahrenheit or Celsius. Example; to change the temperature to display °C (Celsius) or °F (Fahrenheit): 1.
19 Setting Preheat For best baking performance use the Preheat feature. The Preheat feature will bring the o ven up to the set cooking temperature. A reminder tone will sound indicating when the set temperature is reached and to place the food in the oven.

22 Setting Oven C ontrols C on v R oast Suggestions for C onv Roast: • Preheating is not necessar y when roasting foods using Con v R oast . • Since Conv R oast cooks food faster , reduce the cook time by 25% from the recommended cook time of y our recipe (check the food at this time).
23 Fig. 3 Br oil Setting Oven C ontrols Use the br oil function to cook meats that require direct exposure to radiant heat for optimum bro wning results. The Broil feature is factory preset to broil at 550°F . The Br oil function temperature may be set at an y temperature between 400°F (205°C) and 550°F (288°C).
24 Setting Oven C ontrols Meat Probe When cooking meat such as r oasts, hams or poultry , use the meat pr obe function to check the internal temperature without an y guesswork. For some foods , especially poultry and roasts , testing the internal temperature is the best method to insure properly cooked meats.

26 Setting Oven C ontrols Slo w C ook The Slo w Cook feature may be used to cook foods more slo wly and at lo wer oven temperatures. Slo w Cook pro vides cooking results much the same way as a Slo w Cooker or Crock-P ot . The Slow Cook feature is ideal for r oasting beef , pork & poultry .
27 Warm & Hold™ Example; to set Warm & Hold: 1. If needed, arrange interior oven racks and place cooked food in oven. 2. Press Warm & Hold key pad. HLd will appear in the display. If no further key pads are touched within 25 seconds the request for Warm & Hold will clear.
28 Setting Oven C ontrols Adjusting Oven Temperature Y our appliance has been factory calibrated and tested to ensure an accurate baking temperature. For the first few uses , follow y our recipe times and temperature recommendations carefully .

30 Setting Warmer Drawer C ontrol The purpose of the warmer drawer is to keep hot cooked foods at serving temperatures. Examples are vegetables, gravies, meats , casser oles, biscuits , r olls and pastries. It is not recommended to heat cold food in the warmer drawer; always start with hot food.
31 Setting warmer drawer The thermostat contr ol knob is used to select the temperature for the warmer drawer . It is located on the contr ol panel. The temperatures are appr oximate , and are marked L O , MED and HI (See Fig. 1). Warmer drawer indicator light The indicator light is located above the Warmer Drawer thermostat contr ol knob.
32 A self-cleaning oven cleans itself with high temperatures (well abo ve normal cooking temperatures) which eliminate soils completely or reduces them to a fine powdered ash you can wipe away aftwerwards with a damp cloth. The Flex Clean function allo ws y ou to set any amout of cleaning time from 2 hours to 4 hours.
