Important Safety Information 3 WARNING! Before using this treadmill or starting any exercise progr am, consult your physi- cian. This is especially important for persons over the age of 35 and/or persons with pre-existing health problems.
Before You Start 4 Thank you for purchasing the Health Trainer ELITE Treadmill! This quality product y ou have chosen was designed to meet your needs for cardio vascular ex ercise. Before you start, please read the Owner's Manual and become familiar with the operation of y our new treadmill.
Assembly 5 The Health Trainer ELITE Treadmill will require assembly before operating. After opening the box, remov e any packing material from the treadmill. Do not throw away any packing materials until the unit is working properly. Place the base on a clean, level surface.
Assembly 6 Assembly requires the included allen wrench. Do not plug in the power cord until all assembly steps are completed. 1. Place the left and right fenders through the tube of the left and right uprights as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 Figure 2 2.

Moving Instructions 10 Caution! To avoid the risk of injury, never attempt to move the treadmill while it is in the unfolded operating position. To reduce the possibility of injury while lifting, bend your legs and keep your back straight. As you raise the treadmill, lift using your legs, not your back.
Power Requirements 11 I mproper connection of the equipment grounding connector can result in a risk of an electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service man if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the product.
Console Panel Functions 12 There are five display windows on the control panel to pro vide feedback information. INCLINE / PULSE WINDOW: INCLINE: Indicates incline in percent of grade 0-10% in 0.5 increments. PULSE: Indicates heartbeats per minute. WARNING: The use of Pulse feature should not be used as a medical pulse reading.

Belt Adjustment 21 WARNING! Do not over-tighten rollers! This will cause premature roller bearing failure! Belt adjustment and tension performs two functions: adjustment for tension and centering. Y our new treadmill comes pre-adjusted from the factory for tension and centering.
Maintenance Instructions 22 WARNING! Before performing any maintenance to your treadmill, always unplug the power cord from the surge protector. CLEANING: R outine cleaning of your unit will extend the life of your unit.
Error Messages 23 Treadmill Error Messages Y our treadmill is equipped with a software package that enables error messages to be dis- played when there is a problem. The following error codes will be displa yed in the console dis- play windows. Safety Interlock Error Messages SI 1 - Safety key missing, replace and try again.
Troubleshooting Guide 24 Treadmill will not start . 1. Is the Safety Key inserted into the treadmill Console? 2. Make sure the power cord is plugged into a surge protector , the surge protector is plugged into a properly grounded outlet, and the surge protector is turned on.
