9 Simmer P late ■ The Sim mer Plate is m ade o f al umin um w ith a no nsti ck coating to e venly spread the h eat over the bottom of cookware. ■ Chan ne ls on the bott om of th e Sim mer Pl ate have been designed so it fits properly and s ecurely over the grate.
10 Cookware IMPORT AN T : Do not l eave empty cookware on a hot su rface cooking area, element or surface burne r . Ideal cookware should have a fl at bottom, straig ht sides, and a well-fit ting lid and th e material shoul d be of medium-to-heavy thick ness.
11 ELECTRONIC OVE N CONTROL First Use/Power Interruption When powe r is first suppli ed to th e range or if p ower is interrupte d, all indica tor lights in th e display wi ll appear on for 2 seco nds. The n, a buz zer wil l beep one t ime and “PF” will appear in the display window .
12 It is r eco mmended th at dis tilled wa ter be us ed. The water rese rvoir holds 8 cups (2,000 mL) of water . For more information, see the “ Steam-Ass isted Cook ing” sec tion. If you will be on vacati on or not using yo ur range f or an ext ended period of time, you should drain the water fr om the r eservoir .
13 Alumi num Foil IMPORT AN T : Do not line th e oven b ottom wi th any type of foil , liners or cookware because perman ent damage will occur to the oven bottom finish. ■ Do not cover food wit h aluminu m foil when conv ection or steam-assisted cooking.
14 TRADITIONAL COOKING Baking and Roasting The BAKE function is ideal for b aking, roastin g or heating casseroles. During baking or roastin g, the bake and broil element s will cycle on and off in intervals to main tain oven temperat ure. If the oven door is opened during baking or r oasting, the broil and bake elements will turn off immediately .
15 8. When the b roiling time ends , “0:00” wi ll appear on t he display and 4 tones wi ll soun d. The oven will r emain on. Fou r r eminder tones will sou nd every minute , and th e time w ill count up i n 1-minut e incr ements. The display will alte rnate between “0:00” and the count u p time un til y ou r eset o r turn o ff the o ven.
16 CONVE CTION COOKING During convecti on cooking, the fan provides increased hot ai r cir culati on con tinuously and mor e co nsiste ntly t hrou ghout th e oven. The movement of heat ed air around the food helps to speed up cooking by pene trating the cooler outer surfaces.
17 Convection Roasting In the Convec t Roast funct ion, the bake and broil ele ments operate, along wi th the fan, to p rovide heat in the oven cavity . Use Convect R oast when cooki ng food on a s ingle rack, such as chicken, tu rkey , tender roasts an d vegetable s.
18 STEAM-ASSI STED COOKI NG Steam-assi sted cooking buil ds on the benefi ts of convecti on cooking by helping to r etain moisture, texture and flavor in food. Steam or moistu re is automaticall y added du ring the cooking cycles. There are 2 categories of steam-assisted cooking; Auto Steam and Sel ect Steam.
19 Fish The Fish sett ing bakes at a lower temperature than tradi tional baking. This gives you moist, tender , ev enly-cooked fish wi th results s imilar t o those achieved when s teaming fish in par chment p aper . Y ou can cook fillet s, steaks or whole fis h with this se ttin g.
