9 How much detergent to use ■ The amount of deter gent to use depends on the har dness of your wa ter an d the ty pe of de tergent. If you us e too l ittle , dishes won’t be clean. If y ou use too much in soft wate r , glassware wi ll etch. ■ W ater har dness can change over a period of time.

Is the w ater temperat ure too low? For best dishwas hing re sults, water shoul d be 12 0°F (49°C) as it ente rs the d ishwash er .
