3 SAFETY RULES FOR OPERA TING YOUR FIREPLACE • Use only Lennox Hearth Products glass doors, specifically designed for the Villa Vista fireplace. • When cleaning the firepla ce, the ashes should be placed in a metal container with a tight fit- ting lid.
NOTE: DIAGRAMS & ILLUSTRA TIONS ARE NOT TO SCALE. 4 OPERA TING THE FIREPLACE Fuel The Villa Vista™ fireplace is designed to work best when fuelled with seasoned cordwood. Hardw oods are preferred to softwood s since the energy content of wood is relative to its density .
NOTE: DIAGRAMS & ILLUSTRA TIONS ARE NOT TO SCALE. 5 Accelerated Combustion The maximum heat output for the Villa Vista™ fireplace is achieved by burning with the com- bustion air damper opened ( see Figure 2 ) . By thi s metho d, the Vi lla Vista firepla ce can produc e up to 70,000 BTU of heat per hour .

8 NOTE: DIAGRAMS & ILLUSTRA TIONS ARE NOT TO SCALE. Door Adjustment The door may need to be adjusted to be com- pletely airtight. The gasket airtightness can be adjusted using the adjustment screw located on the fireplace facade at the bottom of the fireplace opening.

NOTE: DIAGRAMS & ILLUSTRA TIONS ARE NOT TO SCALE. 20 CHIMNEY CHASE AND MUL TIPLE TERMINA- TIONS For the purpose of this manual, a chimney chase is considered a part of the chimney system rather than part of a building. The termination must be placed a minimum of 18" (460 mm) above the chase.

The chimney must be absolutely clear of any soot residue or creosote. Check for cracks, loose or missing bricks that could inhibit correct installation of the liner .
