1 ABOUT THIS GUIDE Congratulations on your purchase of LevelOn e GSW-1675T 16-Port 10/100/10 00Mbps Gi gabit Ether net Web Sm art Switch. Thi s device integrates 1000Mb ps Gigabit Et hernet, 100Mbps Fa st Ethernet and 10Mbps Ethernet network capa b ilities in a highly flexible package.
.
3 INTRODUCTION This chapt er describes the fe atures of the 16-Po rt 10/10 0/1000Mb ps Gigabit Ether net Web Sm art Switch and some backgro und information about Ethernet/Fast Eth ernet/Gigabit Ethern et switching technology. Gigabit Ethernet Technology Gigabit Ethernet is an extension of IEEE 802.
4 In addition, the phenomenal bandwid th delivered by Gigabit Ethernet is the most cost -effective method to t ake advanta ge of today a nd tomorro w’s rapidl y improvi ng swi tching a nd rout ing inter networki ng technologies.
5 Switching Technology Another a pproach to pushing beyond the limits of Ethernet technology is the develo pment of s witching tech nology. A s witch brid ges Ethernet packet s at the MAC address level of the Ethernet prot ocol transmitti ng among con nected Ethe rnet or Fast Et hernet LAN segments.
6 VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) A VLAN is a group of e nd-stati ons that are n ot constraine d by their physical location and can communicate as if a c ommon broadcast domain, a LAN. The primary utility of using VLAN is to reduce latency and need for ro uters, usin g faster switc hing inst ead.
7 Store-and-Forward switching sche me capability to support rate adaptation and ensure data in tegrity Up to 4K unicast addresses en tities per device, self-learning, and table aging 272KBytes p acket buffer Supports IEEE 802.

19 CONFIGURATION Through the Web Browser you can co nfigure GSW-167 5T such as VLAN, Trunking, QoS… etc. With the attached Web Management Utilit y, you can easily discover all the Web M anagement S witch, assi gn the IP Address, c hanging the password and upgrading the new firmware.
Figure 7. Web Management Utility The Web Management Utility was divided into four parts, Discovery List, Monitor List, Device Setting and Toolbar function , for details instruction, follow the below section. Discovery List This is the list where you can discover all the Web management devices in the entire network.
System word definitions in the Discovery List: MAC Address: Shows the device MAC Address. IP Address: Shows the cu rrent IP address of the dev i c e. Protocol versi on: Shows the version of the Utility protocol. Product Name: Shows the device product name.
View Trap: The Trap func tion can receive the events that happen from the Web Managem ent Switch i n the Monit or List. There is a light indicator behind t he “Vie w Trap” button, when th e light .
Device Setting You can set the device by using the function key in the Device Setting Dialog box. Configuration Setting: In this Configuration Setting, you can set the IP Address, Subnet Mask , Gateway, Set Trap t o (Trap IP Address), System name and Locati on.
Password Chan ge: You can use this Passw ord Change w hen you need to change th e password, fill in the password needed in the dialog box and pres s “Set” button t o proceed the pass word change immediately.
25 Toolbar The toolbar in the Web Management Utility have four main tabs, File, View, Options and Help. In the “File TAB” , there are Moni tor Save, Moni tor Save As, Monitor Load an d Exit: M.
Configuring GSW-1675T The 16-Port 10/1 00/1000Mb ps Gigabit Eth ernet Web Smart Switch has a Web GUI interface for smart switch conf iguration. The Switch can be configured throug h the Web Browser. A network administrato r can manage, control and monitor the switch from the local LAN.
Or through the Web Manag ement Utility, you do not n eed to remember the IP Address, sel ect th e device shown in the M onitor List of the Web Management Utility to settl e the device on the Web Browser.
Setup Menu When the m ain page appea rs, find t he Setup menu in the left side of the screen (Figure 16). Click on the set up item t hat you want t o configure.
Configuring Setup Setting Find that there are four items, including Port Sett ings, VLAN Set tings, Trunk Settings an d Mi rror Settings in Setup men u. Port Settings In Port Settings menu (Fi gure 17), this page will show each port’s status, press the ID para meter to set each port’s Speed, Flow Control, QoS priori ty and Li nk Stat us .
Note 1:Be sure that you have to re-setting the Gigabit port when transferring the media type ( Fiber to Copper or Copper to Fiber ). Note 2:The priority of Gigabit Fiber port is higher than Copper. To change the port setting, click on the ID parameter to enter to the selected port to configure its Sp eed/Disa ble, Flow c ontrol and Qo S setting.
Speed/Disable: This setting ha s six modes— 100M Ful l , 100M Ha lf , 10M Full , 10M Half, Auto and Disable —for speed or port di sable selections. Flow Control: This setting determines whether or not GSW-1675 T will be handling flow control. Set FlowCtrl to Enable for avoiding data transfer overflow.
Once you wa nt to modi fy the VLAN Group, chec k on the ID parameter, the ID VLAN config uratio n window will pop out. Figure 20. VLAN Settings Trunk Setting The Trunk function en ables to cascade two devices with a doub le times bandwi dth (m aximum up to 8Gbp s in full d uplex m ode).
Mirror Setting Port Mirro ring is a m ethod of m onitoring network t raffic that forwards a copy of each inc oming an d/or outgoin g packet from one port of a network swit ch to a nother port where the packet can be studied. It enables the manager to keep close track of switch performance and alter it if necessary.
Statistic The Statistic Menu screen will show the status of each port packet count. Figure 23. Statistic For Detail packet information, click on the ID parameter as Figure 24.
System Setting The System Setting includes the System name, Location name, Login Timeout, IP Address, Subn et Mask and Gateway. Through th e Web Management Utility, you can easily recogn ize the device by using the System Name and the Locati on Name.
Trap Setting The Trap Setting enables the d evice to monitor the Trap thro ugh the Web Management Utility, set the Trap IP Ad dress of the manager where the trap to be sent. Figure 26. Trap Setting System Events: Monitoring the system’s trap. Device Bootup: a trap whe n booting up the system .
Set Password Password is the i nvaluable t ool for the manager to secure Web Management Switch, use this funct ion to cha nge the passw ord. If you forget the password, press th e “Reset” button in the rear panel of GSW-16 75T, the curre nt sett ing includes VLAN, Port Setti ng… etc.
Figure 28. Backup Set t i ng Note: when restoring a recorded file, the current password will not be erased. Reset Setting The Factory Reset button helps you to reset th e device back to the default setting from the factory. Be aware that the entire configuration will be reset, the IP address of the device will be set to default setting 192.
Logout When press this function, the web configuration will go back to first Login page. Figure 30. Logout 39.
