1 Learni ng about y our printer Understanding the printer part s Pri nting is easier tha n ev e r before. Y our prin ter can automatic ally align your car tridges and d etect th e type of p aper you hav e load ed.
2 Using the software to select y our printer settings Use the following table to s elect a pr int quali ty or pap er type s etting : Wind ows Macintosh 1 With y our docume nt open, clic k File Print Properties or Pref erenc es. 2 F rom the Qual ity/Cop ies tab , select a print quality setting.

8 Printing a di gital photo on a photo card (Windows) 1 Load up t o 10 p hoto c ards ver tic ally ag ainst the r ight s ide of th e pape r suppor t. When you load photo car ds, make sure: – Y ou caref ully read the instr ucti ons that c ame with your ca rds.
9 3 Open your digi tal photo i n your photo appl ication. 4 When you are read y to pr int your photo, click File Pr int P roper ti es or Preference s. 5 F rom the I Want T o m enu, click Pr int a phot ograph.

F or f ast er pr inting: 1 Disconne ct the parallel cable fr om your pr inter and compu ter . 2 Uninstall th e pr inter sof tware follo wing the s teps on p age 21. 3 Connect your pr inter to your computer wi th a USB c able.

14 a See if checking t he items on page 11 solv es the problem. b Click Continue or Ne xt. c If the screen reappears, make sure your printer c able is securely attached at both ends and is not damaged. If you are using a parallel cable, make sure it is an IEEE-128 4 compliant cable t hat suppor ts bidirectional printing.
15 Mak e su re: • Y ou com p letely removed the stic ker and tr ansparent tape from the back and bot tom of both pr int car tridges. • Y ou inst alled the blac k car tridge (P/N 82) in the left carrier and the color cartr i dge (P/N 83 or 88) in the right carrier .

18 First, see if checking the list on page 11 solves the problem. If your document did not pr int, print a t est page: a F rom your desktop , doubl e-click the Lexmark Z55 Solution Center icon. b F rom the T roubleshooting t ab, click Print a test page.
19 Make sure y our printer is selected in Chooser: a F r om the Apple menu, choose Chooser . b In the left window , highlight the Le xmark Z55 pr inter icon. If your printer is not listed, install the printer sof tware (see page 22). c In the Connect to: box, highl ight the Le xmar k Z55 pr inter icon.
