13 Y our Phone Backlight A backlight illuminates the displa y and the keypad . When y ou press an y key , the backlight turns on. I t turns off if no key is pressed within a g iven period of time , depending on the Backlight T imer menu option. Acc ess Codes Y ou can use the access c odes described in this section to av oid unauthorized use of your phone . The ac cess codes can be changed by using the Change C o des fe ature (Menu 9.5.4). S ecurity code (4 dig its) T he securit y code pr otec ts the unauthorized use of y our phone.
Y our phone offers a set of functions tha t allow y ou to customize the phone . These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus , accessed via the tw o soft keys marked the left soft key and the right soft key . Each menu and sub-menu allow s you t o view and alter the settings of a particular function.

24 U sing the 123 (Numbers) Mode T he 123 Mode enables you to en ter numbers in a te xt message (a telephone number , f or example) mor e quickly . Pr ess the keys corr esponding to the r equired digits bef ore manually switching back t o the appropriate t ext entr y mode .
25 Y our phone provides a number of c ontrol functions that you can use during a call . To ac cess these functions during a call, press the righ t soft key [ Options ].
Speaker On. The speakerphone indicat or [] will display on the displa y screen. T he loudspeaker is automatically deactivated when y ou end the call. n W arning Because of the higher volume level, don ’t place the phone too close your ear while the speakerphone is enabled.
