Speed Dialing lets you call a phone n umber stored in your Contacts director y using one touc h dialing (pa g e 25). The Mini SD card lets y ou play bac k, store, and erase the pictur es or videos taken with your phone (pag es 98 and 107). Y ou can also play bac k and store downloaded MP3 files.
Using Y our Phone ’ s Bat t ery and Char g er Bat tery Capacity Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (LiIon) batter y . It allows you to r echarg e your batter y bef ore it is full y drained. The batter y provides up to 3. 4 hours of continuous digital talk time.
T o install the LiIon batt ery: 1. Insert the batter y (label side facing up) into the cavity at a 45-degr ee angle. (The metal contacts must be aligned with and touching the metal pr ongs.) 2. Press down on the batter y until it snaps into place. Remo ving the Batt ery T o remo ve y our batt ery: 1.
Char ging the Batt ery Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone’ s LiIon batter y is recharg eable and should be charg ed as soon as possible so y ou can begin using your phone.
Displa ying Y our Phone Number J ust in case you f orget y our phone number , your Sprint PCS V ision Phone can remind y ou. T o display y our phone number: Press Menu to access the main menu and select Contacts () . Select My Phone Number ( ). Y our phone number and other inf or mation about your phone and account will be displa yed.
Y ou can also place calls from y our Sprint PCS Phone b y using Sprint PCS V oice Command SM (pa g e 155), dialing from the Contacts list (page 25), and using y our Call Histor y listings (pa g e 61).
Answ er ing Calls T o answer an incoming call: 1. Make sure y our phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to v oicemail.) 2. Press to ans wer an incoming call. (Depending on y our phone’ s settings, you ma y also ans wer incoming calls by opening the phone or by pressing any n umber ke y .
Missed Call Notification When an incoming call is not ans wered, the Missed Call log is display ed on your scr een. T o display the Missed Call entry: Highlight the entr y and press .
End-of-Call Options After receiving a call from or making a call to a phone n umber that is not in your Contacts, the phone n umber and the duration of the call are displa yed. The r ight softkey displays the Save option. Select this option if you wish to add the ne w number to your Contacts.
Finding a Phone Number Y ou can searc h Contacts entr ies for phone n umber s that contain a specific string of number s. T o find a phone number: 1. Enter three or mor e digits in standb y mode. (The more numbers you enter , the more specific the sear ch becomes.
Dialing Fr om the Contacts List T o dial directly fr om a Contacts entry: 1. Press Menu (left softke y ) to access the main menu. 2. Select Contacts () . 3. Select Find Entry () . 4. Use your Na vigation ke y to scroll through the Contacts list, then highlight your desir ed entr y .

Sound Set tings Ring er T ypes Ring er types help you identify incoming calls and messages. Y ou can assign ringer types to individual Contacts entries, types of calls, and types of messages. Preprogrammed Ringers include a variety of standard ringer types and familiar m usic.

Location Set tings Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone is equipped with a Location f eature f or use in connection with location-based ser vices that ma y be available in the future. The Location f eature allows the netw ork to detect y our position. T ur ning Location off will hide your location from ever y one e xcept 911.
Air plane Mode Airplane Mode allows y ou to use many of y our phone’ s featur es, such as Games, Notepad, V oice Memos, etc., when you are in an airplane or in any other ar ea where making or r eceiving calls or data is prohibited. When your phone is in Airplane Mode, it cannot send or receiv e any calls or access online inf or mation.
T TY Use With Spr int PCS Service A TTY (also known as a TDD or T ext T elephone) is a telecom- munications device that allows people who are deaf or har d of hearing, or who have speec h or langua g e disabilities, to communicate by telephone. Y our phone is compatible with select TTY devices.
Phone Setup Options Shor tcuts Y our phone offers you the option of assigning a shortcut ke y to a fa vorite or often-used function. Pressing the navigation key in standby mode will launch y our per sonally designated shortcut. T o assign your shor tcut ke y: 1.

A ccessing the Secur ity Menu All of your phone’ s secur ity settings are a vailable through the Security menu. Y ou must enter y our lock code to view the Security menu. T o access the Secur ity menu: 1. Press Menu (left softke y ) to access the main menu.
Loc king Pictur es T o tur n pictur e lock on or off : 1. From the Security menu, select Lock Pictures () . 2. Highlight Unlock , Lock Now , or Lock On Power Up , and press . Changing the Loc k Code T o chang e your lock code: 1. From the Security menu, select Change Lock () .
Using Special Numbers Special numbers are impor tant numbers that you hav e designated as being “alwa ys available. ” Y ou can call and r eceive calls from special numbers e v en if your phone is loc ked. Y ou can sav e 10 special numbers in addition to your Contacts entries (the same number ma y be in both directories).
Reset ting Y our Phone Resetting the phone restor es all the factor y defaults, inc luding the ringer types and displa y settings. The Contacts, Call Histor y , Scheduler , and Messaging are not affected. T o reset your phone: 1. From the Security menu, select Reset Phone () .
Secur ity F eat ur es f or Spr int PCS V ision SM Enabling and Disabling Spr int PCS Vision Services Y ou can disable Sprint PCS V ision ser vices without turning of f your phone; how ever , you will not hav e access to all Spr int PCS V ision ser vices, including W eb and messa ging.
Net Guard The Net Guard option allows y ou to be prompted eac h time you connect to Sprint PCS Vision services. When you access V ision, a screen is displa yed with the f ollowing two c hoices: Co.

Understanding Roaming Recognizing Icons on the Display Screen Y our phone’ s display screen alwa ys lets you kno w when you’ re of f the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network and whether y our phone is operating in analog or digital mode. The follo wing chart indicates what you’ ll see depending on where you’ re using your phone.
Roaming on Analog Netw or ks When you r oam on analog networ ks, you will e xper ience a similar quality provided by other analog carr ier s toda y . Although some f eatures, such as Sprint PCS V ision and Sprint PCS V oice Command, will be unavailab le, you can still make and r eceive calls and access voicemail.
Chec king f or V oicemail Messages While Roaming When you ar e roaming off the Spr int Nationwide PCS Networ k, you will not receiv e on-phone notification of new v oicemail messages.
Set ting Y our Phone’ s Roam Mode Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone allo ws you to control y our roaming capabilities. By using the Roaming menu option, you can determine which signals y our phone accepts. Set Mode Choose from three diff erent settings on your dual- band/tri-mode phone to control y our roaming e xperience.
Contr olling Roaming Charg es Using Call Guar d Y our phone has tw o ways of alerting you when y ou are roaming off the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network: the onscr een roaming icon and Call Guard. Call Guard makes it easy to manage y our roaming charg es by requiring an extr a step bef ore you can place or ans wer a roaming call.

Using V oice-A ctiv ated Dialing In addition to Sprint PCS V oice Command SM (see page 155), you can use a voice dial tag to automaticall y dial a phone number in your Contacts list. (A voice dial tag is a command you r ecord and use to place calls without using the keypad.

T aking Pict ur es T aking pictures with your phone’ s built-in camera is as simple as choosing a subject, pointing the lens, and pr essing a button. Y ou can activate camer a mode and take pictures whether the phone is open. T o tak e a pictur e : 1.
Goto My Pictures to go to the My Pictur es menu to chec k your sav ed pictures. T ake New Picture to return to Camera mode to take another picture.
