Installation and Configurat ion 12 4. Get eight (8) M4 screws and eig ht (8) M4 nuts from the hardware pack in this kit. Each nut has a locking, nylon insert that begins gripping the screw when it is halfway tight. Make sure to tighten the nut and screw completely to ensure locking action.
Installation and Configurat ion 13 6.2 External Battery Cabinet Inst allation Optional Liebert external battery cabinets may be connec ted to the UPS to prov ide additional battery run time. External battery cabinets are design ed to be placed on one side of the UPS or stacked beneath the UPS.
Installation and Configurat ion 14 6.3 Connect Input/Output Power The UPS ships with the basic ha r dwire box attached. If an optional mode l is to be us ed, remove th e standard bo x and install the optional box using the thre e captive m ounting screws marked in the il lustration, below, right.
Installation and Configurat ion 15 6.3.3 PD-HDWR and PD-HDWR-MBS T erminal Block Connections Conduit entry holes are provided on the rear and side of the box. Input and ou tput wiring should not share the same conduit. The standard PD-HDWR comes installed on th e UPS.
Installation and Configurat ion 16 6.4 Inst all the Groundi ng Electrode Conductor A Grounding Electrode Conductor must be attached to the rear panel using the M5x12 Phil lips screw provided. This connection is required in addition to the power input ground connection to the remov- able power distri bution box.
Initial St a rtup and Electrical Checks 17 7.0 I NITIAL S T ARTUP AND E LECTRICAL C HECKS Initial Startup and the Configuration Program —The UPS ships with a default 120 VAC L-N setting. This is also the most robu st setting in that it can operate with either input phase angle (120 or 180 degrees).
Initial St a rtup and Electrical Checks 18 7.1 L14-30P Plug-in Connections—Incl uding the PD-001 Distribution Box If the configuration program has been used to set the L-N voltage at 100, 110 or 115, then the input phase angle is required to be 180 degrees.
Configuration Prog ram 19 8.0 C ONFIGURATION P ROGRAM The final step of in stallation may require custom configuratio n of your UPS u sing the en closed config- uration program. Some configuratio n setti ngs may be changed only whil e the UPS is off. These should be set before the UPS is put into full time service powering the critical load.
Configuration Prog ram 20 8.2 Configuration Program—Inst allation An easy-to-use installation program will streamline the instal lation of the configuration program.
Configuration Prog ram 21 8.3 Est ablishing Communicat ion Link with the UPS Use only the seria l communication cable supplied wi th the configur ation program. If an accessory communication card has been instal led in the UPS’s communication card slot, the option card must be removed while u sing the config uration prog ram.
Configuration Prog ram 22 8.4 Configuration Program—Operation 8.4.1 Read/Confirm UPS Configuration Settin gs The UPS settings may be monitored, but not change d, using the configuration program while the UPS is operating in any mode. If the program is only us ed to read the present UPS settings, close the pro- gram using the CANCEL button.
