Chapter 8 Parallel System 87 Chapter 8 Parallel System 8.1 System Introduction 8.1.1 Basics The Liebert UPS use s intelligent and r eliable decentral ized parall el operati on technology . A maximum of four single uni ts of the s ame capacity can o perate in parallel .
C hapter 8 Par allel System 88 UPS in the system , and oper ation conditi on of each u nit can be moni tored throug h the remote computer . 8.1.2 Theory of Operation 1. Parallel Sy stem consi sting of t wo units This is the most frequently used config uration and it s operati on theory is shown in Figure 8-1 Fig.
Chapter 8 Parallel System 89 Fig. 8-2 Redundanc y operati on mode This system ca n improve the syste m reliability noti ceably . In normal condition, each UPS does not w ork at f ull load, so even if the l oad is in creased, the sy stem will n ot transfer to by pass.
C hapter 8 Par allel System 90 Fig. 8-4 Series backup mode Note The defau lt value of a lternative operation time is 168 ho urs and the r ange is 0-4320 hours 8.1.3 Operation modes The parall el operation system al so has operation modes such as norm al mode, battery mode, byp ass mode and maintena nce bypass mode.
Chapter 8 Parallel System 91 Maintenance mo de: The conditi on to transfer to mainte nance mode is same with that of single mod ule UPS system. The m aintenance swit ches should be switched on synchronously a s possible. Thus the syst em can be rep aired witho ut interrupting the power supply to l oad.
C hapter 8 Par allel System 92 8.2. 2 Ele ctri cal inst al lati on 1. Power cables Wiring of pow er cables is the same with th at of singl e module UPS sy stem. Note: The length and specificati ons of po wer source ca bles incl uding the by pass i nput and UPS output cables should be th e same, thus the load can be shared evenly in bypass mode.
Chapter 8 Parallel System 93 8.3 External Power Distribution Parameters su ch as maxim um permissibl e input c urrent (In is the r ated input current) of each UPS, cap acity of input circuit breaker(suit able for re ctifier input a nd bypass in put) are given in T able 3-5.
