5 1.3 I MPORT ANT S AFETY I NSTRUCTIONS Read all instructions before using the Cross-T rainer . SAFETY W ARNING: The safety of the product can be maint ained only if it is examined regularly for damage and wear . See Preventative Maintenance section for det ails.
• Wear shoes with rubber or high-traction soles. Do not use shoes with heels, leather soles, cleat s or spikes. Do not use the Cross-T rainer in bare feet. • Do not tip the Cross-T rainer on its side during operation. • Keep hands and feet away from all moving part s.
7 • Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by , on, or near children, invalids, or disabled persons. • Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use att achments not recommended by the manufacturer .
G ROUNDING I NSTRUCTIONS This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resist ance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment- grounding conductor and a grounding plug.

T ools Needed: 17mm Socket Wrench, Phillip s Screwdriver Step 1 Packaging Part s : None Remove all packaging and place main component s to the side of the box. Break box down in each of the four corners. NOTE: Use care when removing the foam blocks that support the pedal arms.
12 Step 3 Assemble the Console Upright Part s: Hardware Bag #2 (3, M10 x 74mm Silver Hex Head Bolts) (1, M10 x 20mm Silver Hex Head Bolt) T ools: 17mm Socket Wrench The console upright tube (C) is pre-assembled with one bolt so that you can simply lift the upright into place by pivoting upward.
Step 5 Assemble the Rocker Arms; Moving Arm Pivot Covers Part s: Hardware Bag #3 (2, W ave W ashers, 2 Large Flat W ashers) (2, Flat W ashers) (2, M10 x 20mm Silver Hex Head Bolts) (4, 8mm Black Phill.
14 Step 6 Assemble Moving Arms to Pedal Arms; Pedal / Moving Arm Joint Pivot Covers Part s: Hardware Bag #4 (2, M20 x 74mm Silver Hex Head Bolts) (2, M10 Hex Nuts) (4, 8mm Black Phillips Head Screws) T ools: 17mm Socket Wrench, Phillip s Screwdriver Lift the front end of the user lef t pedal lever (K) to meet the left rocker arm clevis (L).
Step 7 Assemble Front Base Shroud; Console Bracket to the Upright Part s: Hardware Bag #5 (8, 12mm SIlver Phillips Head Screws) (2, M10 x 15mm Silver Hex Head Bolts) T ools: Phillips Screwdriver , 17mm Socket Wrench Position the left side base shroud (N) over the met al bracket (O) and screw in with four 12mm Silver Phillips Head Screws (12).
16 Step 8 Connect all Console Wiring; Console to Console Bracket; Back Plastic Shell Part s: Hardware Bag #6 (4, 12mm Black Phillips Head Screws) (4, 8mm Silver Phillips Head Screws) T ools: Phillips Screwdriver Position the console (Q) close to the console bracket (P) and follow the below instructions to connect all wiring.
17 3 .I NITIAL S ETUP Read the entire User Manual before setting up the cross-trainer . W HERE TO P LACE THE C ROSS -T RAINER After following all safety instructions move the cross-trainer to the place where it will be used. See specifications for full dimensions if needed.
18 After adjusting the levelers, tighten the jam nut s (B) against the stabilizer to lock the levelers in place. Note : A common noise source on the cross-trainer is the failure to have all four wheels completely off the foor and the jam nut s on the levelers tightened.
19 4 .M AIN F EA TURES M OUNTING THE M ACHINE When mounting the machine it is recommended that the pedal closest to you is in its lowest position. This can be done by pushing the arms to rotate the pedal until it is centered to the side of you at it s lowest position.
C ONT ACT H EART R AT E The X8 includes hand pulse sensors on the stationary handlebar that are a built-in heart rate monitoring system. During a workout grasp the hand pulse sensors to monitor your heart rate.
21 5 .A CTIVITY Z ONE The X8 activity zone places the most used keys and display attributes closer to the user so that it is more convenient to make adjustments during a workout. Think of the activity zone as cruise control settings on your car's steering wheel.
22 5.1 S TRIDE L ENGTH F UNCTIONALITY K EY P RESS The stride up and down keys can be pressed any time the machine is on. The stride up and down keys are used to adjust the length of the stride from 18 inches to 24 inches.
23 5.2 R ESIST ANCE L EVEL & I NTENSITY L EVEL F UNCTIONALITY K EY P RESS The resistance level up and down keys will ONL Y function after a workout has been select- ed and started on the main console.
5.3 T OT AL B ODY T RAINER The T otal Body T rainer workout makes the most of the cross-trainer ’s tot al body workout capabilities by leading the user through a varied workout that exercises all major muscle groups.
5.4 L EG S CULPTOR M ODE F UNCTIONALITY K EY P RESS The Leg Sculptor Mode key is used to turn the mode on or off. It can be pressed at any time, although it is recommend- ed to use the Leg Sculptor mode after a workout has been selected. See the Leg Sculptor Mode section for more detailed information.
6 .L EG S CULPTOR ™ M ODE Leg Sculptor is a mode designed to work all lower body leg muscle groups by automatically adjusting the stride length. The Leg Sculptor Mode key is located on the upper-left portion of the activity zone. Press the Leg Sculptor mode key once to activate the mode.
7 .A CTIVITY Z ONE S ETTINGS M ENU The settings menu contains setup options to customize the use of your machine. The setup options include: Contrast (CO), Units (Un), Language (LA), and Audio (AU). Since the display does not have any messaging capability the abbreviations CO, Un, LA, and AU are used in the digital stride display area.
E XITING THE S ETTINGS M ENU Press the Leg Sculptor key to scroll through all the menu options. Press the Leg Sculptor key on the final settings menu option, Sleep (SL), to exit the Settings Menu. In addition, if there is no key press after 20 seconds in the Sleep (SL) option, the Settings Menu will be exited.
7.2 S ETTINGS M ENU O PTIONS A UDIO The audio option allows you to turn the audio or beeps on or of f for the Leg Sculptor key , S tride Down key , and S tride Up key . T o turn the audio off for the T otal Body T rainer key , Level Up key , and Level Down key you must turn the audio or beeps of f on the main console.
30 S LEEP M ODE Sleep mode turns the activity zone backlight off. When sleep mode is turned ON the display lighting is programmed to turn off af ter 5 minutes with no pedaling or no key press.
31 C ONTRAST Contrast is the difference between the appearance of the on and of f graphics of the LCD display . If the illuminated graphics are difficult to see or read the contrast can be adjusted in the settings menu. There are three contrast adjust- ments, LOW , MID, & HIGH.
32 U NITS The unit option allows you to change the stride length units from inches to centimeters or vice versa. Follow the below instructions to adjust units. UNIT ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS Step 1. Press and hold the Leg Sculptor Key for three plus seconds then press the S tride Down Key .
L ANGUAGE The language option allows you to change the text for INTENSITY and STRIDE to the same translated terms in the German language. Follow the below instructions to adjust the language. LANGUAGE ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS Step 1. Press and hold the Leg Sculptor Key for three plus seconds then press the S tride Down Key .
8 .S ERVICE & P RODUCT M AINTENANCE 8.1 T ROUBLESHOOTING N O P OWER Check to see the power cord is fully plugged into the back of the cross-trainer and into the wall. Make sure the power switch is turned on and the power cord is fully seated into the back of the cross-trainer .
35 S TRIDE L ENGTH A DJUSTMENT N OT W ORKING T urn of f the cross-trainer ’s power . T urn the power back on af ter 30 seconds and try the stride adjustment again. S TRIDE L ENGTH IS A UT OMA TICALL Y C HANGING Check to see if the Leg Sculptor mode is turned on.
36 W HEN A CTIVITY Z ONE W AKES U P THE S TRIDE C HANGES When the activity zone wakes up from sleep mode the stride length adjusts to the last stride position used before sleep mode was entered. Sleep mode is a setting that turns the display backlight off to save power and LCD life.
37 S T ART - UP R ESIST ANCE S EEMS V ER Y D IFFICUL T T urn the unit of f and then on again. C AN ' T F EEL A R ESIST ANCE C HANGE A T THE B EGINNING L EVELS The resistance curve of the cross-trainer is designed so that you can feel a greater dif ference in resistance at higher levels.
38 8.2 P REVENT A TIVE M AINTENANCE T IPS The safety of the cross-trainer can be maintained only if the equipment is examined regularly for damage or wear . If maintenance is required, keep the equipment out of use until defective part s are repaired or replaced.
8.3 H OW TO O BT AIN P RODUCT S ERVICE 1. V erify the symptom and review the operating instructions. The problem may be unfamiliarity with the product and its features and workouts. 2. Locate and document the serial number of the unit. The serial number plate is located on the front st abilizer , below the shroud.
