Page 5 1. Microphone: Sound enters your device through the microphone . 2. Sound T ub e: The sound trav els to your ear through the thin tube. The tubes have a Left or Right orientation for delivery to the appropriate ear . 3. Dome Tip: Y our Personal Sound™ comes pre-t with a soft Open Dome.
Page 6 T urning the Device On / O 1. On: Simply close the battery door . 2. O : When you are not wearing y our Personal Sound™, keep the batt er y door open to extend battery life. F ully opening the batter y door also allows internal moistur e to evaporate which keeps device electronics working well.
Page 7 • The P ersonal Sound™ will sit discretely over y our ear on the appropriate side . The dome should be inserted comfortably into the ear canal. The thin sound tube should be close to the cheek along the front of the ear . • Place the ret ention hook in the bowl of the ear following the orientation of the arr ow shown above .
Page 8 Removing the Sound T ub e for Cleaning • Hold the P ersonal Sound™ Amplier at the base of the device. • Using your other hand gr asp the base of the sound tube.
Page 9 Removing the Sound T ub e for Cleaning • F irmly t wist the base of the sound tube until it is perpendicular to the device • Disconnect the sound tube by pulling it rmly away from the device .
Page 10 Cleaning the Sound T ube Be sure that the tube and dome are kept fr ee of debris and ear wax. Even a small amoun t of vapor and tiny grains of debris ma y stop the ow of sound. • Remove sound tube (See pages 8-9) • Use a soft dr y cloth or tissue to clean the outside of the sound tube and dome.
Page 11 If the sound tube becomes discolored, sti or brittle , it should be replaced . • Remove the sound tube (See pages 8-9) • Attach the new sound tube by snapping it rmly onto the brass nozzle on the body of the amplier .
Page 12 The soft dome tip may be changed when it becomes soiled. The frequency of dome changes will var y for dieren t individuals. • Remove the old dome by pulling it o the end of the sound tube. • With clean ngers , push a new dome as far as possible onto the sound tube.
Page 13 Battery Information Y our Personal Sound™ uses a size 10 battery . The lifespan of the battery is approxima tely 70 hours. Please insert a batter y upon receipt of the de vice. Lo w batter y Indicator A warning of three double beeps every eight minutes indicates that the batt er y needs to be replaced .
Page 14 Replacing the Battery 1. Gently pull open the battery door with your ngernail and remove the used ba tter y . 2. Using the plastic tab of a fresh batt er y , place the battery into the battery compar tment. While holding the battery in place, peel o the plastic tab.
Page 15 V olume / Program C ontrol Y our Personal Sound™ allows you t o adjust the loudness by briey depressing the silver Rocker Switch, upwar d or downwar d in small steps. A longer press on the switch changes the digital amplier to the next adjacent listening prog ram.
Page 16 Program C ontrol / T elephone T elephone Most users can hold the phone in the normal manner with the P ersonal Sound™. Pushing the Rocker Swit ch for about 2 seconds on either the upper or lower multi-control button will cause the program t o change.
Page 17 Caring for your P ersonal S ound ™ Do your best to keep your P ersonal S ound™ clean and dr y at all times. • Clean your device with a dry cloth. Do not rinse or submerge the device in wat er . • Do not use water , alcohol, or other liquid agents to clean the device as they may damage it.
