4 S Us e only 2 mm diameter McCulloc h brand line. N ever us e wir e, rope, s tring, et c. S Install r equired s hield properly befor e using the unit. Use only s pecified tr immer head; make s ure it is properly ins talled and se- cur ely fastened. S Make s ure unit is as sembled c orrec tly as show n in this manual.
5 S Do not attempt to r emove c ut material nor hold material to be c ut when the engine is running or when c utting blade is mov ing. S Alway s k eep the wheel and depth adjus ting sk id in c ontact w ith the ground. S Alway s pus h the unit slow ly ov er the ground.
6 WAR N I N G : Ins pect the area to be cultiv ated before s tarting the unit. R emove all debris and hard and s harp objec ts s uc h as roc ks , vines , branc hes, rope, s tring, etc . S Avoid heavy c ontact with s olid objec ts that might s top the tines .
7 S Alway s s top the unit w hen wor k is delay ed or when walk ing from one cutting loc ation to another . S If you s trik e or become entangled with a for- eign object, s top the engine immediately and check for damage. Hav e any damage repaired by an authorized s erv ice dealer before attempting further oper ations.
8 6. Befor e using the unit, tighten the knob s e- cur ely by turning c loc kwis e. 9 ON/S T OP Switch HOW TO ST ART YOUR UNIT WAR N I N G : Avoid any c ontac t with the muffler . A hot muffler can c ause s erious burns . ST ARTING A COLD ENGINE (or a war m engine aft er runni ng out of fuel) Starting pos ition NOTE: The thr ottle loc k - - o ut must be engaged to allow operation of the throttle t rigger.
10 3. While s ecurely holding the engine and up- per s haft, pull the attachment s traight out of the coupler. INST ALLI NG OPTION AL A TT ACH- MENTS 1. Remov e the s haft cap fr om the attac h- ment (if pres ent). 2. Pos ition lock ing/releas e button of attac h- ment into guide rec ess of c oupler .

12 Button Air Filter C over Air Filter REPLACE SP ARK PLUG Replac e the spar k plug eac h y ear to ensure the engine st arts eas ier and runs better . Set spark plug gap at 0,6 mm. Ignition timing is fixed and nonadjus table. 1. T wis t, then pull off spar k plug boot.
13 Make adjus tments with t he unit s upported so the cutt ing attachment is off the ground and will not mak e contac t with any objec t. Hold the unit by hand w hile running and making ad- justment s. Keep all par ts of y our body aw ay from the cut ting attachment and muffler .
14 TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY Engine will not sta rt . 1. ON /OFF swit ch in O FF position. 2. Engine flooded. 3. Fuel tank empty. 4. Spark plug not firing. 5. Fuel not reac hing carbur etor . 6. Carbur etor requires adjustment. 1. Move O N/O FF s witc h to ON posit ion.
