1 I NTRODUCTION The MS7600 Horizon ™ series is Metrologic’s next generation in -c ounter laser bar code scanner. This compact, hands-free scanner is desig ned with a dense 20-line omnidirectiona l scan pattern that helps provide fast, efficient throughput with a high first pass read rate.

16 I NSTALLATION OF A S ECONDARY S CANNER 1. Turn off the host system. 2. Connect the round end of the PowerLink RS232 AUX cable [ MLPN 54-5466 7A] to the RS232 jack of the secondary scanner ( see figure 20 ). 3. Connect the other end of the Po we rLink RS232 AUX cable into the 3 rd jack down from the top of the MS7600 .
17 I NSTALLATION OF A S ECONDARY S CANNER 11. Scan the follo wing bar code to conf igure the auxiliar y port on the MS7600 to accept a Metrologic scanner as the secondary sc anner. The following bar codes do not apply when using an MS6720 as a secondary scanner.

20 M AINTENANCE Smudges and dirt can interfere w ith the proper scanning of a bar code. Therefore, t he output window w ill need occasi onal c leaning. For the M S7600 glass w indow : 1. Spray glass cleaner onto li nt free, n on-abras ive clean ing clo th.
21 S CANNER L ABELS Each scanner has a label on the bottom of the unit. T he label contains information such as the model number, dat e of manufacture, serial number, and caution information. An additional cauti on label is located under the top plate.
22 A UDIBLE I NDICATORS When the M S7600 scan ner is in operat ion, it provide s audible f eedbac k. Thes e sounds ind icate th e statu s of the scanner. Ei ght sett ings are avail able for the tone of the be ep (norma l, 6 alte rnate to nes and no tone) plus thr ee volume settings.
23 V ISUAL I NDICATORS There is a red LED an d amber LED on the front of the M S7600. W hen the scan ner is on, the flash ing or c onstant illuminat ion of t he LEDs indicate s the st atus of the curre nt sca n and the scan ner.

MS7600 S ERIES T ROUBLESHOOTING G UIDE SYMPTOMS POSSIBLE CAUSE(S) SOLUTION All Interfaces No LEDs, beep or motor spin.
31 T ROUBLE SHOOTIN G G UIDE (C ONTINUED ) SYMPTOMS POSSIBLE CAUSE(S) SOLUTION Scanning a particular symbology that i s not enabled. UPC/EAN, Code 39, interleaved 2 of 5, Code 93, Code 128 and Codabar are enabled by default. Verify that the type of bar code being read ha s been select ed.
32 T ROUBLE SHOOTIN G G UIDE (C ONTINUED ) SYMPTOMS POSSIBLE CAUSE(S) SOLUTION The bar co de may have been pri nted incorrect ly. Check if it is a che ck digit/ch aracter/or bord er problem. The scanner is not configured c orrectly for this type of bar code.
