The Miele " W aterpr oof system" p ro- tects from water damage pr ovided the following con ditions have been met : – the machine is co rrectly plumbed in and connect ed to the elec tricity su p- ply .
If the co rrec t amo unt of d etergent is dispe nsed, th e machine sh ould not need to be descale d. If, however , you do wish t o descale the machine only use proprietar y non- corrosive de- scaling agents an d strictl y observe the instructio ns. Cons ult the Miel e Cus- tomer Service Depar tment.

W ashing environmentally and econo mically Caring fo r the en vir onment m eans sav- ing water , energy and detergent wh en washing but without compromising o n resu lts. The key to a goo d wash result is finding the best combination of amount of detergent, te mperatur e, le ngth of pr o- gramme and th e machine’ s techn ology .
How to wash c orr ectly The headings numbered ( 1 , 2 , 3 ,...) show the operat ing sequense and can be used as a brief guide. Before washing 1 Prepare the wa sh load Empty all pockets. Foreign objects (e.g. nails, coin s, paper clips etc) can cause damage to textiles and components in the machine.
3 Load the drum. Unfold washing a nd load loosely in t he drum. T o achieve best results it is advis- able to mak e up mixed lo ads consist- ing of both large and s mall items. This impr oves the washing ef fec t and helps distribute t he load evenly to keep the machine stable and reduce the noise level duri ng spinning.
After washing 1 Press the “Door” button. 2 Remove the washing. Only r emove washing fr om the ma- chine once the drum has stopped turnin g, otherwise you may s eri- ously injure yourse lf. 3 Check the fo lds in the door seal for an y small articles e.
Memory-Function As soon as the basi c programme has been selecte d, the indicat or lights for the ADDITIONAL OPTIONS, TEMPERA- TURE and SPIN S PEED set the last time this programme w as used aut o- matically illuminat e. T o run the pr ogramme with the selec- tions already shown: Press th e ST ART button.

Adding dete rgen t All mode rn dete rgents produced f or automatic w ashing machines are suit- able, including liqu id, compact (con- centrated) and special applicat ion detergents. Use dispens ing aids, e.g. balls, if t hese are supplied with the detergent.

Cleaning and c are Cleaning the washing machine Clean the casing with a mild non-ab- rasive d eterg ent or soa p and water . Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Clean the facia panel wit h a damp cloth an d dry with a so ft cloth . The dr um can be c leaned usin g a suitable proprietar y stainless st eel cleaner .
Cleaning the fluff filter and pump Check the fluff filter initially aft er 3 - 4 washes to ascertain ho w often i t is likely to requir e cleaning. With nor mal cleanin g approx. 2 lit res of water run out. If the drain outlet is clogged, more water will be retained in the machine (up to 25 litres ) .
Once the flow of water ceases, remove the fluff filter completely and clean it. Remove an y foreign bodies (e.g. but- tons, coin s, etc.) and fluff. T ur n the impeller by hand to check that it is free to rotate. A ny foreign ob- jects c ausing a n obstr uction should be removed.
Cleaning the filter in th e water inlet The was hing machin e has two filters to protect the water inlet valves . The acces sible filter in the union in the open end of the inlet hose shoul d be cleaned a bout ever y six months , or after an in terruption to the exter nal water supply .

Opening the drum door in the event of a po wer failure Switch off the washing machine. Remove the flap opener from behind the deterge nt drawer faci a panel. Open the flap ( in the machine plint h). Place a dis h or bowl under the spout. Point th e drain hose i nto the con- tainer .
Pull the emergency door lat ch down- wards using a s poon handle (se e il- lustration). The machine door will then op en. Please no te that: on mach ines wi th left hand hingeing th e emergency doo r latch i s located be hind a sec ond ac- cess flap in the ce ntre of the plint h.

Install ation Installation surface A concrete floor is the most sui table in- stallation s urf ace for a washing ma- chine, being far less prone to v ibration during th e spin cycle tha n wooden floorb oar ds or a surface with " soft" properties.
Withdraw the two bars together with the suppor t plate. Plug the two hole s with the plastic caps supplied. The machin e should n ot be mov ed with- out the t ransit fitting in place . The transit f itting should be stored in a safe place fo r futur e use.
Levelling the mac hine The machine must be perfec tly level to ensure safe and proper operation. Incorrect installa tion may increase water an d electricity consumptio n. The screw feet can be adjust ed to level the machine. Unscrew the f oot or feet until the ma- chine stands lev el.
The skids provided with the buildin g under k it * are intended to prevent dam- age to floor coverings when ma- noeuvring t he washing mac hine into po- sition. W a sher-Dryer stack A Miele tumble dr yer can be stack ed with the washin g machine. A sta cking kit* is neces sary and can be pur- chased from the Miele Spare Parts De- part ment.

Plumbing Connection to wa ter supply Fitting The machine should be con nected to a mains wa ter supply in accordance wit h standard regulations. In G ermany the washing mach ine is not required to have a n on-return valve as it has been designed to comply with DVG W re gula- tions.
The Miele “W aterp r oof system” con- nected b etween th e stopcoc k and the machin e of fers th e safest p ro tectio n against wat er leaks. For the “W aterproof system” to funct ion correctly , it may only be fitted in the po- sitions show n (see illust rations).
Importa nt! The plas tic casing o f the wat er connec - tion contain s an electric com ponent. Do not dip into any liquid! The "W a terpro of system" must only be connected to its o wn stopcock. It must not be connected t o mixer taps or similar .
Connection to the drainage system The machine drains via a drain pump with a deliv ery h ead of 1 met re. The drai n hose is 1.5 m l ong. It must not be k inked as this restr icts drainage. The Swive l elbow at the end of th e hose can be tur ned in either direction, or can be detached if required with a sharp tw ist and pull.
Electrical conne ction This machin e is supplied r eady for con- nection to an a.c. single phase 230 - 240 V , 50 Hz su pply . Th e machine is supplied with a 2 m long main s cable with moulded plu g. The voltage, rated load and fuse rating are given o n the data pl ate.
Programmable functions The followin g programmable functions can be ac tivated b y the use r . A function sta ys programmed in mem- ory until it is c ancelled.
The machine must first be switched off and the door close d. T o sel ect, activate or deactivate a pro- gramme function: 1 Press the Cottons and Soa k pads at the same t ime and hold th em in. 2 at the same time press the I- On/0-Off button. – The machine is switc hed on.
