Operating instructions for condenser tumble dryer T 9246 C T o av oid the risk of accidents or damage to the appliance it is essential to r ead these instructions bef ore it is inst alled and used for the f irst time .

~ It is essential to r ead these instructions . This tumble dryer conf orms to current saf ety requirements . Inappropriat e use can, ho wever , lead to per sonal injury and damage to property . T o av oid the risk of accidents and damage to the tumble dryer , please read these instru ctions carefull y befor e using it for the f irst time .
Technical safety ~ Befor e set ting up the tumble dryer , chec k it for an y e xt ernally visible damage. Do not install or use a damaged tumble dryer . ~ Befor e connecting the tumble dryer , ensure that the connection dat a on the data plat e (voltage and connect ed load) match the mains electricity supply .
Correct use ~ T o pre vent the risk of f ir e, the follo wing te xtiles must not be dried in this tumble dryer: – items whic h hav e not been w ashed. – items , suc h as workw ear , whic h ha ve not been thoroughl y cleaned and which ar e still soiled with grease , oil or other desposits (suc h as cosmetics , lotions etc).
~ The dryer must not be used without the fluf f filt er s in place or if the fluf f filt er s are damaged in an y w a y . ~ The f luf f filt ers must be cleaned regularl y . ~ The dryer must not be used without the condenser unit in place. ~ The f luf f filt ers must be thor oughl y dried af t er cleaning.
Control panel a Start/Stop button F or st arting the progr amme selected and cancelling a progr amme once it has started. The indicat or light f lashes while a progr amme is being selected and then is on constantl y when the progr amme has star ted. b Extras buttons V arious extr a options can be added to the drying progr ammes .

When the tumble dryer is s witched on for the f irst time , the w elcome screen will appear . The w elcome scr een will not appear again once a pr ogr amme lasting longer than 1 hour has been completed. The displa y for set ting the language will appear .
Care symbols Befor e drying check the drying symbol on the care label. If ther e are no symbols , dry at your own risk! q .........D r ya tn o r m a lt emper ature r .
Brief instructions The headings number ed ( A , B , C ...) show the oper ating sequence and can be used as a brief guide to using y our dryer . A Sort the laundry T o ensure an e ven drying result separ ate out the w ashed lau ndry and sort it according to: .
D Select a programme ^ Select the progr amme you w ant. The indicat or light for the pr ogr amme selected will light up and the progr amme name will appear in the display .
F Start the programme The indicat or light for the St art/Stop but t on will flash when a pr ogr amme is being selected. The flashing indicat es that a progr amme can be star ted. ^ P ress the Start/Stop but t on. The indicat or light for the St art/Stop but t on will now light up const antly .
– It is not possible to select the Short and Low t emper atur e options at the same time. – Not all the e xtr a options ar e suitable for use with e very progr amme. Low temperature F or drying delicates and f abrics with the r symbol on the car e label at a low er temper ature.
With dela y start you can c hoose when you w ant the progr amme to end. T he start of a progr amme can be dela yed from 30 minut es up to a maximum of 24 hours , allowing y ou to mak e use of night-time economy electricity r ates , for e x ample. To select delay start ^ Select the progr amme you w ant and then press the Dela y start but t on.

Once a programme has started - changing the programme Y ou cannot change t o another progr amme once a progr amme has started (this pr ev ents unintentional alter ations). If an at t empt is made to c hange a selection, Option not possible will appear in the display .
Emptying the condensed water container The condensed w ater will be collected in the condensed w at er container unless the appliance has been fit t ed with a dr ain hose (see "Installation"). Empty the condensed wat er container af ter ev ery dr ying progr amme.
Cleaning the fluff filters The f luf f which is cr eated b y the drying process is collect ed by the f luf f filt ers in the door and the door opening. Clean the filt ers af ter each drying progr amme*. Cleaning them whilst dry Tip: Y ou can also use a vacuum cleaner to r emov e the f luff .
Cleaning them with water If there is a gr eat deal of compacted fluf f on any of the f ilter s , they can be remo ved and cleaned under hot running wat er . ^ Open the door and pull the fluf f filt er out of the door as described pre viously . The two filt ers in the door opening can also be remo ved if y ou need t o clean them with w at er .
Cleaning the tumble dryer Disconnect the tumble dryer from the mains electricity supply . Miele br anded cleaning and conditioning produ cts are a v ailable to order fr om your Dealer , the Miele Spare P arts Department or via the internet on www .miele-shop.
Cleaning the condenser unit Deter gent r esidue , hair and f ine fluf f from the dryer can get thr ough the fluf f filt ers and bloc k the condenser unit. Dust fr om the room in whic h the dryer is installed can also get int o the condenser unit and cause a blockage .
^ P ull the condenser unit out of its housing by the handle . Checking the condenser unit ^ Hold the condenser unit up to the light as shown . ^ Check t o see if there is an y fluf f inside it. The arr o ws in the illustr ation abov e indicate wher e to look.
^ Then f lush the unit through fr om the front. ^ Check the condenser unit again f or any visible f luff and if necessary flush it through ag ain until it has all gone. ^ Remo ve an y soiling still visible inside the housing unit by hand using a damp cloth.
With the help of the f ollowing not es , minor f aults in the per formance of the appliance, some of whic h ma y result fr om incorrect oper ation, can be put right without contacting the Service Department.

Other problems Problem Possible cause Remedy The drying process goes on too long or even switches off. In some circumstances, Clean out airways still appears, even though the filters are clean. Please check all the possible causes and switch the dryer off and then back on again.
Problem Possible cause Remedy Water leaks from the dryer after the condenser unit has been cleaned. – The inner co v er of the condenser unit has not been lock ed properl y and/or the condenser unit has not been positioned correctl y . – Fluff has collect ed in the condenser unit housing.

No obvious cause . – Is the dryer switc hed on? – Is the plug correctl y inserted in the sock et and switc hed on? – Is the appliance door closed properl y? – Has the fuse or circuit break er tripped? The interior drum lighting does not come on.
Changing the lamp Disconnect the tumble dryer from the mains electricity supply . ^ Open the door . Y ou will find the int erior lamp cov er at the top of the drum aperture . ^ Insert a suitable tool, su ch as a wide bladed scre wdriv er , under the side edge of the lamp cov er as illustr at ed.
Repairs In the ev ent of any f aults whic h you cannot remedy y ourself , or if the machine is under guar antee , please contact – Y our Miele dealer , or – the Miele Service Department (see back co ver f or contact det ails).

Levelling the machine The mac hine must be perfectl y lev el to ensure saf e and proper oper ation. ^ The scr e w feet can be adjust ed to compensate f or any unev enness in the floor .
External condensed water outlet General notes When drying is in progr ess , condensed w at er is pumped into the condensed w at er container thr ough the dr ain hose at the back of the dryer . T he condensed w at er can also be dr ained off dir ectl y if the tumble dryer is installed near a sink, dr ain outlet etc.
External drainage via a sink or gully ^ See "F ront vie w" illustr ation. , If you w ant to dr ain the w at er off into a sink y ou will need to secur e the hose carefull y , e .g . by tying it to a tap t o make sur e it cannot slip during use.

Lock code A code can be used to loc k the electronics on the dryer t o pre vent it being used without your kno wledge . When the code has been activ ated, you hav e to ent er a code af ter switc hing the dryer on. Otherwise the dryer cannot be oper ated.
Buzzer The buzz er has t wo v olumes . Normal (F actory default) The buzz er sounds at the end of a progr amme. Loud The buzz er sounds at maximum volume at the end of a progr amme. Keypad tone An audible t one sounds each time a but t on is pressed. F actory default: Of f .
